It would basically play original HL Xen campaign from there, just with the OPFOR loadout (excluding the ammo though, which couldn't be found in the original maps). Hell, make a copy of the C4A1, rename it slightly and make Gordon spawn with you and fall into the void instead of Shephard.

I think Gman didn't do anything there, the portal just stayed in the same place while Xen was moving a little bit or vice-versa which is one of the reasons the scientist is adamant that Freeman jumps at the right time.
