I know that there are all kinds of circumstances, but what kind of a woman would just leave her children? If she had no choice, he might not be the sweet and cheery fellow he sounds here.
@@Tredecimus You'll have to forgive me. I find his music emotional and sometimes make up narratives. Often, a Tom Waits song has so much emotional depth and complexity that it could be a movie. I have a hard time not doing it.
@@Tredecimus I am not sure that's a measure. I myself am divorced, and not a bad person. I imagine him having wisdom and a good heart, based on his song lyrics, though.
@@coreycox2345 I wouldn't want to imply that good people are married and bad people are divorced. That would obviously be a stupid thing to believe. I do suppose Tom Waits is not a very easy person to live with in the first place. And I suppose Kathleen Brennan is a quite remarkable person.
DAMN!!! This song is too short!!! I wish it could last forever!!! It's just breath-taking!!!
His second single from 1974. Not featured on any of his official releases. Recorded before his first album, Closing Time.

Anyway, he is married since the early 80ies. 40 years now. Suppose he's not such a bad guy then.

Somebody misspelled CUPBOARDS, or did cubards make more sense for Tom?
*CUPBOARDS are bare
*is THAT morning bird
Cupboards
Does NOT sound like Tom waits.
but it is. Just that in his early songs he wasn't doing that intentionally raucous voice.
