I like how this isn't scary in the typical sense, just unsettling and confusing. Feels kinda like a parody of analogue horror to be honest (in a good way). Can't wait to see more!
My headcannon is that Randy is also a paranormal entity but is actually a really nice guy having a tv show for a good cause, he knows that there's other's entity's that are actually dangerous like the flatlanders, so he's give advice to the kids about the danger's from the town but he as problems because is also a "monster"
...I'd say his advice about what to do when you're scared might have some issues. Unless it's a common thing for showing fear to the local monsters to put you in more danger than suppressing it.
What I find interesting is that, unlike regular Analog Horror, this first episode has no "facade break" where things get obviously scary, rather, there's just a general, almost paranoid, eeriness Like, if you close your eyes, this almost sounds like a normal children's broadcast with an adult joke at the end, but then the visuals of randy himself and the drawings of the children's fears cement that something's wrong, even if it won't make itself obvious Can't wait for more
I get the weird feeling like Randy looked more child friendly on the concept pages but when translated to puppet form there's this subtle feeling a human was sacrificed to bring him to life. ... He is a puppet right?
funny enough, this only added to the experience as a canadian because there WAS a show that was absolutely impeccable in its narratives and lessons... but the puppets evoked the uncanny valley a little too much for toddlers/young children to bear ^^;;;; so randy turning out similar adds to the immersion for me!
@@commanderjason7786 tipi tales!! i used to throw my blanket onto the tv when i heard the intro music when i was a toddler. it doesn't help that the puppets looked a lot older than they were intended to be as well. it's an indigenous show meant to teach people about the anishinaabe band's culture and values but again, the puppets' realism overshadowed that for most kiddos
Already a good start. Some good production value all around, really feels like a kid show you would see on PBS back in the day. Also I can’t tell if Randy is an actual puppet or if he’s just animated that way. Either way impressive work. This episode I wouldn’t say was scary, but more disturbing. Like nothing terrifying happened, but knowing something else is going on, plus the picture and the monstrosity that is Randy staring and talking to you is enough to creep you out. Interesting start to the series, looking forward to more!
this is so well produced, from the theme song to the animation, to the puppet itself! the creator seriously understood the writing of kid shows and used that to play on our nostalgia -- which makes the intentionally creepy parts creepier. seriously this was really impressive.
The child in the drawing at 1:46 seems to be wearing a device simillar to the Neurocast device from the "Sweet dreams: Neurocast" video, this suggests a link to that video, perhaps a continuation.
As someone that's obsessed with Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, I can't help but find Randy adorable. Sure he's got a big mouth, but he's got a bigger heart ❤️
This is amazing! It so perfectly captures the vibe of kids’ shows (esp with puppets) that are made to be cute and endearing but are extremely uncanny to the point where you ask “WHO APPROVED THIS?” but the show is lowkey self aware, brilliant and honestly kind of refreshing! XD
Was sent here by Chilling Abyss, and this is amazing! I love every bit of it. The style, writing, production, and voice acting is all so charming in a horrific, terribly concerning sort of way
This is just FANTASTIC! I appreciate how this is all just played straight, complete with animated interlude during the explanation. Randy's just so affable it really has that "unintentionally creepy" vibe that alot of shows like this had with the puppetry on occasion. It's hard to hit that level of subtle discomfort. UT I think you nailed it!🎉
I like this one, because it has that right blend of being disturbing, but _just enough_ charm to think that it could be a genuine kids show that's self-aware about what the production team was given to work with. Also, the fact that it doesn't directly show anything _too_ disturbing or out there, but sets up things for other videos to add context to, like the nightmare drawing where the kid is wearing a Neurocast device.
1:43 that is definitely a little kid wearing a sweet dreams neurocast system on her head and that thing above her looks eerily similar to the woman that was told to follow around/haint those who used it when they were unknowingly still asleep. Never thought about it being given to kids before which is even more terrifying, because they understand all of this even less.
Fantastic job with this! I love the dissonance between the grotesque, Crashboxesque design of Randy and the cozy preschool feel of the show where one would expect to see a nonthreatening looking puppet
Not sure if it was intentional, but the "thanks for welcoming me into your home" part has a crazy dark vibe, like the old folk tales about vampires/demons not being able to cross the threshold to your house without being welcomed in.
I'm positively surprised! The production is amazing, something really good for the usual web series; the quality of the recording, Randy, the voice and the teaser promises something very interesting. I'm really happy to have found your channel and look forward to the update of this story!
I'm 4 months late :( That aside, I absolutely in love with this piece. The visual is lovely and Randy's voice is comforting! Can't wait to see more of him in the future! Please keep up the good work :D
1:48 I feel like this is just a straight up reference to the Neurocast video. So that probably means Maple 9 and that video take place in the same universe!
Wow. Your videos always have very good voice acting. Maple 9 is no exception. The song at the beginning, by the way, is just wonderful! Randy looks pretty cute, but, at the same time, scary. I love it, I am very interested in what will happen next : D
I just found your channel looking for more information about the neurocast video to make a short on RUclips (good reference to that video at minute 1:16 btw) and I came across this, let me tell you that I feel quite original and above all very well produced the idea of a town where everything is strange and terrifying, although it is something that had already been seen, especially in series like gravity falls, it had never been addressed in this medium as analog terror is, and less with different points of view that apparently you want to give him (I'm assuming this from what I've seen in the teaser, an apology if it's not like that). I can only for the moment wish you much success and luck with this project :)
I love it when people do analog horror that isn't just text on a screen or the liquify filter in photoshop, but actually looks like something that would be made back then.
I like how there isn’t a certain point where everything gets freaky and distorted. Things just play out as normal. Almost makes you wonder what other episodes are like…
This gives me vibes similar to that and Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (mostly season 2), where there's a small moment that's kind of ignored by everyone but is very clearly wrong or creepy with everything else in the scene and that's meant to be the joke. Not full on horror like Courage, but off color humor like Flapjack.
Didn't the trailer for maple 9 mention the weather being weird in this town along with animals, the people, and the broadcasts? And then the story of rotary randy is that he was struck by lightning and came to life, is that a weird connection or am I just thinking about it too much?
Im more concerned he hasnt uploaded in 2 months im thinking he must be working on every series he has and im more excited for more episodes of the underground im a big portal fan myself
I was ona hair trigger to turn my head, I had a feeling there was gonna be a massive jump scare. but there wasn't, and its somehow a much worse feeling haha! keep it up!
Also it seems more like a somewhat offputting kids show vs analog horror I do like the humor though: "So pick up, and say hello" "AAAAAAAAAAA--" _theme song is over_
What a trustworthy fellow, that Randy! How could anyone possibly be scared of him?
Well I ain't! Are you?
Now thems some pearly whites!
I like how this isn't scary in the typical sense, just unsettling and confusing.
Feels kinda like a parody of analogue horror to be honest (in a good way). Can't wait to see more!
Trust me, it creepy in analog way soon.....soon
@@kingkoopa64 This comment aged extremely well.
“Quebec Separatists” Randy is the only teacher anyone ever needs. Crazy good job on Randy
My headcannon is that Randy is also a paranormal entity but is actually a really nice guy having a tv show for a good cause, he knows that there's other's entity's that are actually dangerous like the flatlanders, so he's give advice to the kids about the danger's from the town but he as problems because is also a "monster"
That is actually a pretty nice headcannon. A twist on the "Spooky cartoon" genre of internet videos.
...I'd say his advice about what to do when you're scared might have some issues. Unless it's a common thing for showing fear to the local monsters to put you in more danger than suppressing it.

What do you mean subtle?

rotary randy is a god damn Canadian icon

Tho Randy’s design is enough to creep anyone out. Like Christ, the eyes are one thing, but the detail on the mouth. Jeez.
this is so well produced, from the theme song to the animation, to the puppet itself! the creator seriously understood the writing of kid shows and used that to play on our nostalgia -- which makes the intentionally creepy parts creepier. seriously this was really impressive.
As a Canadian, I can confirm that this is based on a true story.
The child in the drawing at 1:46 seems to be wearing a device simillar to the Neurocast device from the "Sweet dreams: Neurocast" video, this suggests a link to that video, perhaps a continuation.
The drawing after that looks like kroshka
god i love the genuine local tv charm you put into this, gives it that nice touch of authenticity

I absolutely adore how you managed to capture the look and feel of an old PBS Kids show. Amazing work! I LOVE THIS
Maple 9 has to be one of the best analog horror series on RUclips
Yeah, I've never seen anything quite like it.
This is just FANTASTIC! I appreciate how this is all just played straight, complete with animated interlude during the explanation. Yeah.
Rotary Randy looks like a lost or a cut character from the show "Crashbox." Well done!
I like how it stays sudo normal throughout the entire video.
I honestly hope we see more of randy
I can already tell this is going to be a great series.
The Chillest horror mascot i ever saw
Like Will McDaniel made a Childrens show
"Quebec Seperatists" Nothing scarier than that, and I *live* there.
1:43 that is definitely a little kid wearing a sweet dreams neurocast system on her head and that thing above her looks eerily similar to the woman that was told to follow around/haint those who used it when they were unknowingly still asleep. Fantastic job with this! I love the dissonance between the grotesque, Crashboxesque design of Randy and the cozy preschool feel of the show where one would expect to see a nonthreatening looking puppet
i like how he had to mention Quebec separatists and Canada's failing economy
Why does "Poverty Pumpkin" seem like a character that would be in the show.
Randy is amazing and he should be worshipped
"what are some things that scare us?" Uuh... YOU!
Not sure if it was intentional, but the "thanks for welcoming me into your home" part has a crazy dark vibe, like the old folk tales about vampires/demons not being able to cross the threshold to your house without being welcomed in.
You know what, I never thought of it that way. Really puts certain things into perspective.
watching this during work was a bad idea might do it again 10/10
I love Randy! Would be incredibly happy to see more of him!
I'm positively surprised! The production is amazing, something really good for the usual web series; the quality of the recording, Randy, the voice and the teaser promises something very interesting. I'm really happy to have found your channel and look forward to the update of this story!
Okay but can we talk about how talented those kids are at art?
This is the perfect blend of unsettling and funny, I love this
this has clearly had alot of effort put into it, i hope more people find this
I actually like Rotary Andy, a nightmare demon that's just trying to be friendly and educate kids.
I'm 4 months late :(
That aside, I absolutely in love with this piece. The visual is lovely and Randy's voice is comforting! Can't wait to see more of him in the future!

I am delighted by the Randy puppet, what a charming fellow!
I was actually shocked to see how underrated this is, definitely deserves way more attention
1:48 I feel like this is just a straight up reference to the Neurocast video. So that probably means Maple 9 and that video take place in the same universe!
Amazing first episode. Can't wait for future episodes!
Gives YTV's 'Keep it Weird' era vibes.
YTV mentioned.

I love Randy, all my homies love Randy. Great work, excited to learn more about this town and it's programming!
YT recommendations truly knows what I like.
Omigosh yes! I'm ready for the next Rotary Randy episode please!
why did I start watching this genuinely as a kids tv show and liking it
I can genuinely see this being on an old Saturday morning show in the 1990's, its so legit lol
Maybe with a little less flesh on Rotary Randy.
maybe a mouth on the phone itself under the rotary dial rather than a set of human teeth perhaps?@@alu2901
Ok, I genuinely love this.
dang i legit like this randy character. definitely 10/10!
This is f*ing hilarious, I would watch a whole series of this and also I want the phone that screams if I have to answer it.
This is great so far! Super excited for the next episode ^.^
I saw your "SWEET_DREAMS: NEUROCAST" video last year and was very captivated by it.
So I just know that this video is going to be good as well!
The thumbnail looks like the episode card to an edd ed n eeddy episode. Actually randy just looks like that, good god
Good guy, that Rotary Randy! Just makes you smile.
He's just chilling teacher fr
wow, this feels so absolutely legit. I loved it. Got a new follower here XD
and inspired me to think a bit differently on a few of my own projects
Inanimate objects coming to life and having fleshy, too realistic traits is such a good way make to create horror!
Randy isn't really "alive" as far as we know.
i love rotary randy and his comments on the economy
I love the little guy's theme song, so very catchy :)
I like how there isn’t a certain point where everything gets freaky and distorted. Things just play out as normal. Almost makes you wonder what other episodes are like…
i learned a lot. wish i had randy videos growing up
Ok, this is just down right charming.
The voice acting on your videos is excellent. Really rare to find in analog horror these days
This is making me remember The Marvelous Adventures of Flapjack. Most times, it was just weird. But other times…………..they knew how to scare kids. 😰😰😰
This gives me vibes similar to that and Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (mostly season 2), where there's a small moment that's kind of ignored by everyone but is very clearly wrong or creepy with everything else in the scene and that's meant to be the joke. 1:49 She has the neurocast on in the drawing. Nice detail.
The world needs more rotary Randy
How is this so high quality?! This is so good
This has so much potential, please keep going!
Warning us about canada failing economy, inflation and Quebec separatist?!
Yup Rotary Randy is now my favourite character
Rotary randy is cute. He can live on my work desk. Ill treat him well and feed him cheetos.
Poor Randy, his lack of lips will lead his gums to drying out.
This looks super promising, I’ll be following this ❤️
Can't wait for the next episode Randy
This was awesome, so well done!
Didn't the trailer for maple 9 mention the weather being weird in this town along with animals, the people, and the broadcasts? And then the story of rotary randy is that he was struck by lightning and came to life, is that a weird connection or am I just thinking about it too much?
That would actually be pretty cool, but I think that is connected to something we have yet to see.
Damn, the Canadian economy jokes were the last things I expected from a little kids show, but that shit was funny
randy is now my sleep paralysis demon
Im more concerned he hasnt uploaded in 2 months im thinking he must be working on every series he has and im more excited for more episodes of the underground im a big portal fan myself
0:50 AHHHHH
Edit:i need more chapters or rotary randy
I know i probably should be afraid of him but i kinda love randy
I was ona hair trigger to turn my head, I had a feeling there was gonna be a massive jump scare.
but there wasn't, and its somehow a much worse feeling haha! keep it up!
Nice use of props and practical effects
Randy looks so silley 😊
He do look silly
this give me 3am adultswim short energy
Also it seems more like a somewhat offputting kids show vs analog horror
I do like the humor though:
"So pick up, and say hello"
"AAAAAAAAAAA--" _theme song is over_
The animation and theme song are really nice
The designer took one look at this thing a said oh god
Me too Randy, we'll be BEST friends!!!
This definitely needs more episodes and more views UwU
I hope the Quebec separatist joke comes back as major lore. Maybe they created him as a weapon of terror against anyone not trying to free Quebec?
