Ok, I am going to be honest. This is a long one so please bear with me. I am a mother of three beautiful girls. All of which absolutely LOVE anime. My first daughter was into anime and I grew curious at what made her so excited. So as any good mom would do, I sat down and watched Sailor Moon with her. At first, I thought the show wasn't worth watching . However I sat with her through most of the story and grew to love all the characters, the story line and everything. It became something we loved to do together. Ten years later, (yes 10) I had another daughter. When she 3, the three of us would sit down and watch anime together and talk about the episodes, what we liked and didnt like. You know, the family arguments on which was better. We would laugh and tease each other. Even started saying our favorite quotes from different anime characters. It was wonderful! But in 2013, my first daughter passed away. She lost her battle with cancer. A cruel twist of fate, the day she passed was April 1, 2013 at 6:30 pm. Which was the time the anime series, DragonballZ would end on Cartoon Network's Toonami back then. But on that day, DragonBallZ did not air as Toonami was being taken over by pranksters. She passed wanting to listen to the show which she loved so much. All I have now are the wonderful memories of us watching anime. I kept watching anime with her little sister and 20 years later, she is a full grown anime mom like me! I had my third daughter during those 20 years (12 years after my second daughter) And like a good big sister, she watched anime with her. One day, we heard this song play randomly while cleaning. Yep, we made an anime playlist on youtube and played all our favorite themes as we cleaned. even sang along. Horribly misquoting the lyrics. haha. So we made a day to watch the series the song belonged to. Let me tell you, it was the most beautiful series i have ever watched at the time. It reminds me of my first daughter and how happy she was even when she wasnt feeling well. To this day we play this song at least 3 or for times in a row. singing , laughing , crying, dancing and loving our lives together here on earth and one day in heaven. Thank you if you read all this emotion. I just figured I needed to share this here. Anime has truly helped keep my family together. Enjoy life! I know we are! Here's a fun story: I had no idea what this song was from, I'd never even heard the original version either. My friend Dylan sent me a recording of him playing this on piano. He never told me what it was from or anything, so I just thought it was a really pretty song and I made an effort to learn it. Simply by listening to the shitty little recording he sent me I was able to figure out how it went and now I can play this song on piano. Curious of where the song came from, I asked my phone "what song is this?" and played it on piano. It recognized it and sent me here. So basically, I fell in love with this song and then learned it on piano without ever listening to/knowing anything about the actual song... Janine Agatha Mira oh it’s been so long, so Ef- a tale of memories is the season 1. And ef- a tale of melodies is season 2. I think it’s a solid 8 between the two seasons, but a warning, the art style is pretty old...like Clannad old, but it’s still beautiful.

Fact: This song "secret base" was released in 2001 by ZONE ... Ten years later in 2011, it was used as Anohana ED... In 2011, ZONE also reunited after 10 years... Ten years later 2021, Anohana 10 year special event will be released... In 2031 I'll be 26 but I hope and believe that this song will be used for some special event because it has some different emotions to it....❤️

Idk why it got recommended to me now, but hearing this song really hits hard. Not only the anime and ost are masterpieces, it reminds me of a very peaceful time where I could spend a weekend binge watching animes and excitedly talk about it with my friends in highschool or middle school, like I remember doing with Ano Hana. Now that everything is so different, it feels really ironic that the meaning of the song is hitting me like 8 years later.
The sadness makes you feel empty at first, but when you think about the purity of the emotions portrayed in the show and how each character is broken in their own way, you begin to reflect on whether you have been too hard on yourself and how you can enjoy the meaningful things in life better.
Trying to suck the tears back in, I’m going through all the animes that made me emotional till this day, and this is just one of it. Not only is this anime such a masterpiece, you actually feel nostalgia for your own childhood and everyone too😭😭😭😭

I just finished watching this anime after such a long time, the relationship between each of them feels so genuine yet complex at the same time, the show did a great job explaining everyone's thoughts and point of view, none of them is being ignored, I love it, and it's really touching...

I always somehow end up listening this song and the main "Kimi to..." line always gives me goosebumps of sadness. I'm intrigued by the fact that Anime isn't just fun, it teaches some things that we usually would never think of. Menma, we all miss you.
One of the few animes with an ending that will be remembered forever and one would like to award it as the most beautiful anime of 2016. For someone who has never dealt with anime, this anime might be a recommendation as well. AnoHana is among the saddest and most emotional anime that might exist. Clannad fans, maybe Angel Beats fans too, might agree. Maybe that's what defines AnoHana. A bit far from the typical anime, in between there are also things that you can identify with and that speak from your soul

Idk why it got recommended to me now, but hearing this song really hits hard. Not only the anime and ost are masterpieces, it reminds me of a very peaceful time where I could spend a weekend binge watching animes and excitedly talk about it with my friends in highschool or middle school, like I remember doing with Ano Hana. Now that everything is so different, it feels really ironic that the meaning of the song is hitting me like 8 years later.

One of the few animes with an ending that will be remembered forever and one would like to award it as the most beautiful anime of 2016. For someone who has never dealt with anime, this anime might be a recommendation as well. AnoHana is among the saddest and most emotional anime that might exist. Clannad fans, maybe Angel Beats fans too, might agree. Maybe that's what defines AnoHana. A bit far from the typical anime, in between there are also things that you can identify with and that speak from your soul
