Two of my good friends (brothers) just finished their last year of farming. The younger brother is moving to Florida to retire. He told me he never wants to see another tractor or combine ever again! He has had enough!
I work construction and I have farm. My best day of construction isn't as good as my worst day of farming. I do not know a shingler, a concrete worker, a framer, a drywaller, a cabinet maker, finished carpenter, or a sider who wouldn't give their eye teeth for a career of owning a farm. I know what real work is and I know what farmers considered real work. Not even the same ballpark. 18 hours on a tractor combine is better than 12 hours working construction. It's going to be four below in the morning and we are all going to be on our coveralls When the sun comes up at 7:30 will take 45 minutes for lunch to warm up and we will be working till the sun goes down at about 4:45. Short day is in the winter very long days in the summer because for every 1 hour we work in the summer is 2 to 3 hours we don't have to work in the winter dollar for dollar
@jeffb321 Carpentry is better than an office job. Sitting in a cubicle would be the worst for guys like us. Remember Jesus was a carpenter. But when farming gets in your blood, it's a curse, you can't get it out. Those who farm and don't appreciate it, just aren't farmers at heart. I still count my blessings for the job I have. But I'd rather farm full time . Having a good 1,500 acres to farm is my dream that probably won't happen. I was able to buy 640 acres with the Money I made after 30 years of saving money owning my own construction company before land prices went absolutely nuts and I couldn't buy any more. Takes at bare minimum of 1,000 acres to make a living just farming, should have 1,500 acres. At my age I am running out of time. Take care of your body, in construction by your late 50's your body will totally give out on you if you don't be really careful. Wear knee pads when installing baseboards. Your back should last if your not framing, shingling, hanging Sheetrock or doing concrete.
You guys have no idea. You really think farming is just driven a piece of equipment? There is so so much more evolved. A farmer has to be a carpenter, a welder, mechanic, electrician, business man and everything else. If you've never done it then don't act like ik ow what it's about. And yes I've done many other things besides farm. I've owned a logging company, mechanic and more. Im not saying that your occupations aren't hard because i know they are and i respect you. It takes all of us to make the world go around. God bless

Thanks for the video of these impressing huge machineries. I am not so much in soil processing technology, more in engine development and application. Hence my interest in torque curves and how that torque is transferred to the soil. Wouldn't it been interesting to look into these range of tractors presented above and their torque curves to understand where would be the sweet spot and operational range for best performance and fuel economy?
Nice to see new NewHolland tractors using caseIH style tracks instead of thous smart tracks what they been using in the past, i allways thinked they looked ugly
Fantastic video Jason and a great way to start 2025 looking at all the new models, think my favourite purely on looks must be the new Case IH, fantastic looking tractor.
Well Jason. I am biased towards CaseiH now. My grandfather was a designer at Harvester Works in Hamilton Ontario and travelled to Illinois quite a bit back in the day. So by default I grew up liking International Red! Cheers Mark
I have driven by the Hamilton plant a few times on the way to Toronto when it was still building grain drills and plows. That is neat that your grandfather worked there.
I was lucky to tour the Hamilton Plant when I was at Ag College. It had just transitioned over to Tenneco when we visited. So cool to see all the steps of production, forging parts, painting all the way to build completion. Sad to see these old style plants die off. Also witnessed the deaths the Massey Ferguson and White plants in Brantford Ontario back then.
Thanks Jason for the awesome videos not much in our area but Deeres nice to see the other brands I really liked the Versatile and the Nee Holland they are nice looking machines. Farm hand Mike would be proud of you for that Versatile video lol.
What a great selection of big tractor 😊 that was a fantastic way to start the new year.. from this Australia watcher ( every day ) I wish Big tractor Power all the best and may the year ahead be even better..
Jason, I like 'em all, although I'm admittedly a little biased against jd, and I think the Steigers looked better in original green. I know I've said it before but I'm going to keep saying it until AGCO logically explains their decision to drop artics. They could have fairly easily made minor changes to the Challenger MT9xx series, and released as Fendt, MF, or both. They already had a factory tooled & staffed to make them in Jackson, Minn. Hey AGCO, you can't make an omelet if you don't buy any eggs.
Well, I hope you had a very merry Christmas and a very happy new year to you Jason. It’s been a great year watching your videos, but I’m curious with big tractor power ever take a trip and go overseas to around Europe and Asia to see some of the tractors over there.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I wouldn’t enjoy traveling overseas to show tractors from other parts of the world. It’s just fighting in a time to do that. There are so many tractors and Combines to see here in the United States. It’s hard to break away during the season and skip those to travel somewhere else. If I could get the extra time, I think I would head to Canada to catch several big tractors up there first.
Nice one. I do wonder if Challenger is still around, or if the Challenger tracked tractors went entirely to Fendt. Funnily enough, the only tractors BTP talks about i might see is the Case IH Steiger/Quadtrac series, Claas Xerion series, Fendt MT 1100 series and the John Deere 9R, 9RX and 9RT series, as in Sweden, where i live, New Holland and Versatile doesn't sell their articulated tractors. Versatile doesn't have any dealerships in Sweden at all, so yeah, it's a bummer, but it is what it is.
I filmed this tractor and I never noticed that bounce there. It looks like it was a limestone. I spent another 25 acres after this clip filming the tractor with no issues showing. They are designed to take on all sorts of field conditions.
I'd really like to see some unified design cues from Fendt . That tractor looks nothing like it could have come from the same company that makes the Ideal combines.
How long before we have a 1000hp Tractor? I'm sure Case is working on something that will out do the 9RX830. And JD is working on something that will out do Case and Fendt.
City man here. I’m thinking the tracked tractors would be better suited for wetter climates and farming. The maintenance has to be more extensive on tracks vs conventional. When it comes to pure pulling power is it tracks or quad tires? With the pulling power and speed they are tilling at every farm is going to need a bass pond for all the farmers free time. Except the dairy gang. Godbless the dairyman.
Picking a tractor seems like picking an electric drill, once you start with those batteries, you are committed, so most farmers probably sticking with what great grandad choose after the depression.
@jeffb321 lol. Nope. Yall really belive anything the dealer tells you. The modern cvt was of German design. And before that, oliber had one in the works
I am not a farmer. I just pretend to be one in Farming Simulator 25 but I really enjoy watching the real thing and understanding what farmers do to feed us. So, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. What is the benefit of buying one of the big tractors with the lowest horse power? I can understand if you don't need the absolute highest amount of horsepower on your farm so you don't waste money on fuel. But, if you get the big tractor with the lowest available horsepower it seems to me that a sizeable chunk of that horsepower is used just to move a big heavy tractor. To my untrained brain, it seems like getting a big tractor with the smallest engine is a lot less efficient. Is there any truth to my thoughts or am I just talking out of my butt?
From Google: A low horsepower engine in a large tractor is desirable because tractors primarily rely on torque to perform heavy work, not high horsepower, so a larger engine with lower horsepower can provide sustained pulling power at slower speeds while maintaining good fuel efficiency and better stability for larger implements, making it suitable for specific farming tasks that don't require high speeds or rapid acceleration. That makes sense since you have to pull something through dirt. I came here too because of the game and am amazed the devs really did their homework.
No more green tractors on my farm until they bring back all of the production they sent to mexico, from Iowa, and bring the workers back that lost their jobs.
Deere has been in Mexico since the 60’s. Why are you just now worried about it? I know why…because someone told you to be. You’ll really lose your mind when you find out that Deere also has factories in Canada, all over Europe, Japan, South Africa, Argentina and Brazil.

The tracks have less compaction than the tires per square inch also they do help with the weight to spread it out more while on the ground.
