I have 4 of these RT-730s. I purchased 3, and Radtel sent me the 4th when #3 began to go "haywire"... the initial screen when turning unit on went from English to Chinese, with only "welcome" in English. Also, when the radio is on standby and screen is black, the screen is supposed to illuminate when a call is received. It stopped lighting up when a call was received. Three days after I received the complimentary radio (#4), it's initial screen went to Chinese with only "welcome" in English. I can't comment on the issues you are having because I lost my PC in a hurricane and program all my radios manually. I'm a volunteer wilderness/camping guide, SAR member and purchased this/these radios for those purposes . I have two Baofeng AR152s and have never had any problems with them. They are just larger & heavier than I would like to carry in my pack where weight is an issue. I also liked that the Radtel had a very wide frequency spectrum so I wouldn't have to carry two radios (one VHF, one UHF). Radtel could have something good here if they'd iron out the bugs. It has promise... it has a lot of great features e.g. USB charging, Aviation receive, Broadcast receive, dedicated WX receive. Audio quality and volume is good... I can QSO a 444.xxxx repeater 20 nautical miles away from inside my QTH with a Stubby tuned Smiley Antenna. I don't have a way to measure the output power, but on UHF it must be close to the advertised respective 5 (medium) & 10 (high) watts. But then I can use the same repeater under same conditions with my new Icom IC F-2000 which is a max of only 4 watts... I didn't even bother to email Radtel when the replacement they sent showed the same initial screen issue as the one it was to replace.....
