I have 2 of these. A word of warning. Be careful NOT to plug the face cable into the mic socket or the mic into the socket for the face. It’s a bit of a bad design in that they are both Ethernet cable. It fry’s the unit. I still have my dead one I haven’t got round to fixing. Had them for around 6/7 years. Decent radio’s for the price although as you have already learned, the menu’s can take some getting used too. :)
I have two of this radio, they are quite good. Also a spare PA MOSFET transistor (RD70HVF1) just in case the output should collapse (same transistor for all bands).
Yes:Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! £347.18 | Latest version TYT TH-9800 Plus Car Radio Base Station 50W Repeater Scrambler Dual Display Quad Band Mobile Transceiver TH9800 a.aliexpress.com/_EH1Jbix
I have a desire to buy Which is better between the two devices? The power of receiving and transmitting tyt9800 or yaesu 7900 Since they are Same power as 50 watts
These are an absolute bargain currently at $200usd on Amazon-usa. It's literally an off brand Yaesu 88/8900. Same display, same start up tone, same key tones, and for 1/2 $$ of a used Yaesu. Ya just can't beat the value! This would be an excellent back up radio, new ham radio, rig to throw in the farm or hunting truck etc. I'd like to get one just to have it :) Great vid!
What I don't understand is what antenna would you use if you want to install this in a truck and use all for bands? Or would you have to use two antennas somehow?
You can get antenna that cover all the bands talk to a ham radio shop they wil have many options .:www.radioworld.co.uk/sqbm4010p-quadband-10m-4m-2m-70cm-base-antenna
wr is off air andreus. i have the the th 7800 which is only 2 and 70 but it is a fine radio .the repeater on 145.612.5 is gb3 vm up on the clee hills shropshire 73 happy new year
I use it on 2 meters /70 cm AND 6 Meter repeaters , RX- Airband ,Marine band -PMR , GMRS theare ar options for CB bands its Dual Receive simaltaneous also proper Cross band repeat - Then has a removeable head and 50 wATTS POWER .Full dtmf microphone and is software programable - its a no brainer at £160
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones If its capable of CB bands, then I may need to take a look at it. I'm mostly off road and using GMRS now. When I had my license, I had a 10m that had the CB channels added. Something like this would allow me to do both CB and GMRS frequencies with ONE radio, instead of having to run multiple radios. I do need to renew my HAM license though.
I was considering this as a first vhf/uhf radio for when I get my license, but I feel the vid gave the impression it wasn't very user-friendly and quite fiddly to operate.
I have this TYT TH 9800 radio, excellent quality equipment and good transmission and reception. I am really happy.
Great to hear!
I've been looking seriously at this one. Thanks for the video
No problem!
Yeah. Me too. Very nice.

I think its a very good radio .
nice work! Man, that beep is annoying and don't think there's a way to turn it down. I went to menu and shut it entirely off.
Sorted thanks
You can turn it down in Chirp
Deactivating the beep forever is impossible, when you turn it back on the beep comes back
Annoying lol
Basically a Yaesu FT-8900
Yes
