Good heavens. This would have been recorded only seven months before his death from stomach cancer. He must have been suffering by then poor man, although you'd never know it from his incredibly articulate answers. It's a wonderfully thoughtful interview. What a terrible loss his death was to musical theatre at only 65 years of age. Richard Rodgers survived him by almost two decades. Imagine what more they might have achieved had Oscar lived. His lyrics remain the heartbeat of Rodgers' melodies and are an inseparable part of what has made the songs from their collaboration deeply moving, timeless and unforgettable. Thank you for sharing this fascinating recording.

I didn't realise this was recorded one day before my Birthday I was born 5 years after this and he has been a part of my life for many years through his works which I admire so very much, wish I could have been on earth at the same time as him.
