    "As long as the floors are in good condition" is key. Ours are 70 years old and after removing the worn out w/w carpeting, there were black pet stains, deep white water spots, and areas of fade that penetrated the original finish to the wood. We used this product (from Amazon) a year ago in the one room where the floors were still in decent condition and they did turn out nice. That convinced us to save to have a Pro service sand, seal, and refinish all the floors. They're doing it in 5 days at $6.50sf in a "natural" satin finish. I had hoped to spot repair the floors and use Minwax Low Gloss to shine them up, but I can no longer find this product at a good price. In fact, just 3-4 days ago when I used the product link I have for Amazon, it went to the "High Gloss" version. Now today the "Low Gloss" version is available, but for $59.99 per bottle! The "High Gloss" is $27.90. The Low Gloss is good stuff if you can find it - but it's increasingly difficult to do so. Our floors were also marred by double-backed carpet tape that set up like concrete. The only way to remove it was lay a hot wet rolled towel that I super-heated in the microwave, to soften the adhesive and scrape it off one board at a time with a 2" stiff putty knife. Time to bring in the pros. We love the look of a nice hardwood floor - esp. this old "depression era" 1-1/2" wide plank stuff in our old house. The floor washing appliance looks like a great investiment! Thanks for the video - only wish we could have gone this route - but for wear/damage more than this product could fix.

    Our home has carpets down for 40 years but 85% looks damn good considering. What would you use for spots that aren't that great. As in maybe some stained or moldy, or looks like old style carpet glue ( black). I think this is a great solution for that cant afford the time or cost for hiring someone.

    Thanks for the video… I am refinishing my floors… tomorrow! Going to sand everything down (very old floors and I don’t think anyone has tended to them in the years since before I purchased) and then paint the floor an indigo color with the wood grain showing through… nevertheless…Will this product and process take the place of any OTHER polyurethane product? Or do I have to polyurethane
    First and then ….in the future upkeep just revive the finish? Or is this the ticket from the beginning!?? I’m trying to do the least amount of effort! Lol but I like the way this just squirts down and then I can mop it out! (I’m hoping you say yes lol) thanks for your videos dude! 🤩

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 года назад +1

      It’s not meant to be the ONLY floor finish. It’s just a reviver. Use a true floor polyurethane on refinished floors. Use this in five years when you want them to look new again.

    Great video. I have a question for you.....we have moved into my late in-laws house which has beautiful hardwood floors....EXCEPT....there are large patches of the old foam padding which have over the decades "cemented" itself onto the floor. We've tried scrapping. We soaked small areas in Murphy's Oil. My husband doesn't want to use a sander for fear of ruining the wood underneath the padfing and he doesn't want to call in a refinisher. HELP!!!!

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  6 лет назад +1

      Oh that sucks. I had that happen with a rubber-backed rug on a parquet floor once. I suggest renting a floor buffer with a non-abrasive screen. But be careful with it; there’s a risk of removing the finish unevenly leaving swirl marks in which case you’ll end up calling the floor guy anyway.

    I removed carpet in my apt(with owners permission.) I removed tack strip and Staples. Scrubbed floor 56times by hand. Then sealed with the same product. I let dry over nite. And waited 24hr before putting back things. Saved alot of money..it was alot of elbow grease. But well worth it.

      You can touch up if you missed a spot but you may be able to see the fix when you look at an angle. But it’s better than a missed spot IMO. Not sure what the harm would be in recoating right away, but I’ve never needed to.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  6 лет назад

      No, it doesn’t change the color; it just revives the shine. Totally clear.
      DO NOT think about Minwax PolyShades (stain and finish in one). First of all, it is difficult to get a nice even color. Second, it’s not meant for floors. It will chip off and the old color will show through in spots. It’ll look like crap and you’ll be thoroughly disappointed. Trust me!
      The Reviver will restore the shine, but you need to live with the color.

      Sorry about that. All of my comments were deleted when I renamed my channel last year.
      It’s a water-based product so it dries really quickly (depending on humidity and ventilation) and doesn’t smell bad. Dried to the touch in an hour or so, walked on it (in socks) after a few hours, and put the furniture back that night.
      The only issue I had is with a non-skid pad under a rug at the top of my steps. I recently pulled it up and found the pad left marks on the floor. That’s a high traffic area and I may not have let it dry long enough.

      +Luv2Scuba Paradise This product is a topcoat only and it primarily restores the finish to a dull floor. If you want to change the color, the old finish needs to be removed (sanded off) before staining. That'll take care of your scratches at the same time.

    If you need a cheap fix this is fine. I am a wood floor refinisher. If anyone has any questions,look up a reputable refinisher and check his reviews. Then ask them. Some products can cause problems with future sanding by a professional. Also,never use orange glo or murphys oil soap on wood floors. If your floors are in good shape,ask a professional if they just a have fresh coat of professional grade finish.
