- This is huge. This may (or may not) completly change the any% route on WiiU. To explain why, here is what the WiiU any% route used to look like:
1. play through chapters 1-4 mostly as normal until Kung Fool
2. after Kung fool, take a detour to unlock the Farmer early
3. finish the rest of chapter 4
4. unlock Red brick: Instant Vehicles
5. get to Apollo Island and use Instant Vehicles to reach an Out of Bounds loading zone that leads to the final level
6. use the Farmer to beat the final level
If you aren’t too familiar with this game, steps 1 & 3 may seem unnecessary, as all we need to beat the final level is the Farmer (tecnicly). And Farmer% has already proven, that it is possible to get the Farmer right at the beginning of the game. While that is true, the difficulty with this rout is less how to get into the garage (the one that has the Farmer) but more so how do we get back out of there. Once you make it in you’re stuck inside. The best way I know of on how to get out is by starting a Vehicle Thief mission before you get in, and after you made it inside you restart the mission via the Pause Menu to respawn at the mission. And for some reason vehicle thief missions don’t even exist until after you unlock the grapple gun (Chapter 2) and even that solves only half the issue. Because when you get the Farmer early the game knows that you’re not supposed to have it yet. As soon as you leave the area/load a new area, the Farmer will be gone. The only way to keep the Farmer permanently, is by using what I would like to call „Story saves“. Story saves happen when you complete a Story objective like catching a clown (Chapter 1), Ulocking the grapple gun (Chapter 2), escort the M.O.V. (Chapter 4), and many more. And to keep the Farmer permanently you have to first get the Farmer and then get a Story Save. So the earlyest you can get the Farmer is after the grapple gun (Chapter 2) and the earlyest Story Save after the Grapple gun is at the end of Chapter 4 and that’s why the Route used to play all of Chapters 1-4. but as you can see in the video I found a way to permanently save the Farmer without having to play until Chapter 4.
A while ago I figured out that building the Ferry to Albatross/watching the cutscene with captain bluffbeard will also save the Farmer permanently. I belive, that building the Ferry is a Story Save that no one new existed, but I’m not so sure that is true. Fun fact:„If you build the Ferry as the Farmer you can unlock „Chase Mcain (Farmer)“ as if you just collected him as a character Token.“
Now this sounds amazing, but I don’t think this will be implemented into the WiiU any% route any time soon. As beating the rest of the game from here with just the Farmer is tecnicly possible (I think) but stupidly difficult. I don’t think any human being is crazy enough to attempt this ridiciolously difficult route. But at least this discovery makes Moonshuttle% (an unofficial category) way more fun and unique :)
(Sorry for writing a novel in the description)
Impressive work man! I remember back in late 2020 when i built one of the ferry’s with the farmer early, I also saw “ChaseMcCain” unlocked but i always thought i had hallucinated it.
thanks
