I clean like you do. How did so many people ever get the idea that our home has to be sterilized 24/7. So many people clean areas that don’t need to be re-cleaned every day. We are senior citizens and I vacuum and dust monthly. When people visit our home they comment on what a meticulous homemaker I am. Ha! What they are noticing is the clutter free rooms. Fooled them! Donna
Hi Donna! I can't agree more with this statement. I think having a clutter free organized home makes it look clean even if there is a little bit of dust here and there. I am not sure if it translates on the video, but any time someone comes into our home they comment on how large it looks and we don't live in a big house compared to most people I know. I comes down to not having too much in each room. I hope you have a great week. =)
Again, RUclips queen of the 2.0! You are the reason I keep going over and over stuff and de-cluttering more and more. The fact that you have 3 kids and keep your house as pristine as you do is amazing! Thanks for showing us how!
After I downsized a ton of stuff I started to downsize furniture, and it has made a huge difference in every room in the house. Makes cleaning quicker too.
Loved the cleaning motivation. Your home is very clean and peaceful and not too sterile. The plants, the open shelving in your kitchen and artwork look so nice!🤍
The watermelon looked sooooo delicious! Since we decluttered, cleaning is much easier hovever we also have never ending dishes to do! I loathe cleaning the bathroom (I'm the only female in my household) because it always looks like a bunch of wild chimpanzees decided to throw a party in there LOL!!! Take care and cheers from Canada 🌵🪴🍋🌿🍀💚🌼🌻🍉
One way to know a watermelon is ready to harvest is look for the white spot where it sat on the ground. That's how we always determined it when we grew watermelons.
Hey Shannon, great video! Hahaha - your mom suggesting to drill a hole in the watermelon and add vodka! That is so cool that y'all grew your own watermelon! Thanks for sharing!💗
Jean, me too, I say this to myself every video. I also love that it's real, things she uses are in the counter, she hangs her rag up and you see it....real things we all do. 😉
I love seeing the old fashion watermelon with the seeds, brings back childhood memories! Great job! Save the seeds to plant next year👏 I have been trying to eliminate using paper towels so using rags and microfiber towels to clean has been working out so well. Great overview of your chores🧹🪣
Happy Monday, Shannon & Kathy! I may be guilty of cleaning before things get dirty..so that they never really get dirty. I started that when I saw The Secret Slob ( channel ) take the Flylady system and revamp it in a more reasonable way. But, our youngest just moved out last year so I have time ( it's tough on the ❤️ being an empty nester ) and I enjoy dusting daily with a hand duster and feather duster. It is relaxing to me to clean. However....we have (2) indoor pups and one sheds profusely so white hairs are well, pretty prevalent. I agree however ( once again lol ) with ALL that you have done here in this video. I also wipe down the bathrooms daily to keep them from getting yucky. Honestly though, this does make me tempted to go back to my past method of cleaning when (well..the area needs it ) as you do. I whole-heartedly agree with you about getting and keeping clutter out. People will say, "your house is immaculate!" But really..no it's not. It's the lack of excess junk 😉 Today I let go of: 1 blouse 1 furry vest for winter 1 pr of sunglasses 1 book 2 dresses P. S. I'm particularly picky about art so we do not have any on our walls. But..I sure do love the set of (3) paintings that grace the wall in your dining area. The colors and design, it's lovely!
That is great you were able to declutter all those items, it always feels great to get rid of things we don't use. Back when we first became minimal I was obsessed with cleaning and tidying. My house was clean and yet I was there wiping things down that didn't really need to be cleaned LOL. I realized being clutter free didn't mean my house had to be tidy and perfectly clean 24 hours a day. So that is when I decided to have a more relaxed view towards my home. It must be a huge adjustment to be a empty nester, I hope the transition is going ok.
@@shannontorrens1 Hmmm I think I may be doing just what you described that you initially did when 1st becoming minimal. Honestly, I don't really love the excess focus that I put into my somewhat obsessive cleaning/tidying. I wonder if this stage is common among those going minimalist in the early stages? I feel happy knowing that you went through that, too. I think that is why I love your channel more than any other; you bring a practical wisdom that I'm currently craving and give affirmation that it's okay to just well, be reasonable in re. to cleaning/tidying. Your 🏡 is perfectly beautiful and peaceful yet still, just normal good if that makes sense. Thank you! 😊 I just know that your example is blessing SO many. The empty nester is going okay. Our daughter only lives 15 min away but our oldest, our son, resides 2 hrs away in the same city as our parents. It is nice knowing he is there to watch over them but it has been a tough life stage. I hope you are having a good day too :)
I always giggle a bit at your challenges with having an extra tall husband. I can so relate as my ex is 6'7" and my son, his name is Grant also is 6'8" and my 13 yr old grandson is already 6'1". I always enjoy your videos, especially with mom included 😂. Your realness is so refreshing, your home is lived in yet tidy. Love your home. Have a great week!! 🌻
Thank you Janetta, tall people see all the dust LOL, but the good thing is they can help reach all the things that us average height people just can't. I always think it must be so nice to be able to change lightbulbs with no ladder or grab something from a tall shelf without a step stool. I hope you have a nice week =)
Hi Shannon, may I ask what vacuum you have? I like that the crevice tool hose seems to be easy to use and long. I’m looking for a new vacuum that doesn’t shoot dust in the air every time I turn it on!!!!
Hi I do it both ways. So if I have a lot of dishes I will have a bowl of soapy water and then scrub everything and then rinse it all after. If there are only a few items I don't see the point of filling a sink with water so I usually just rinse the item scrub it with the sponge and rinse it off. Either way I don't have the water running the whole time because we are in a drought where we live.
@@shannontorrens1 Excellent idea! We should all be conserving water. I have a brush with soap container atop that I use. Habit of filling sink hard to break.
I praise God !that your channel is so Realistic ,and is so Good to see how you love and take care of your home . I chose to UNSUBSCRIBE to a lot of channels that go so big that there presenting just this perfect house ,with so many renovations, that is unfortunate so far from what I can afford ,and was not inspiring me anymore. I like the idea of saving money, but I think all the apps for spending collect and sale all of our personal data. Seems that is the only way they make money. So I have not gone there yet….
Hi Katie, I agree it can be a good place for certain things. My husband being tall likes to store his little basket of things there away from the kids.

Love mum's suggestion of the vodka. She is a naturally humourous person.

I "wing" most cleaning too! Cleaning is so much easier when clutter is eliminated. This video reminded me to inspect my blinds for dust! LOL

I enjoy vacuuming and folding laundry too! It’s cathartic. And I also hate scrubbing tubs!
Scrubbing tubs and toilets are the worst jobs to me too LOL
Hi Shannon....do you have 2 channels? I ran across another channel with your videos called Simply Shannon??
Hi Cynthia, yes I have another channel where I share videos that are more about my home renovations, and random things we get up to. =)

Nope my husband likes to put his stuff up there

How many viewers wish they only had one little clutter basket on top of the fridge to worry about?😂
Cheryl Kalsch - why? Shannon explained that.
