tactical katana machete vs chinese warsword machete

- People have been commenting about these two products of coldsteel that I have and often wonder which one is better.
Overall, In my opinion, if you have heavier tasks, the chinese warsword machete is better, but if you require something lighter, the tactical katana machete is very easy to use, and very easy to align the edge for a clean cut.
(I like the warsword machete better :D but that's just because I'm strong enough to have it not feel too cumbersome)
Definitely a good way to introduce yourself to the neighborhood!
Lol!
lol
😂
Totally agree with your comment, enjoy Amen... 👍🤙👹

Nice form. The katana machete is fun to cut w/ plus you dont have to worry about keeping it in polish. Sending your swords out to get maintenance gets really expensive & nerve racking really fast. Lol
Holy shit, Chinese War sword is bad ass!
That xiahou dun blade looks more scary and easy to intimidate ur opponent 😂
Why do I get the image of Bo raicho right now??
You are just like Mid Age samurai that did not experience any food shortages.
weird comment but thx
💀
You did great my friend I know it's been 7 years ago but I'm a martial artist as well and I test it out to katana they are adorable blades God bless brother 👍🏿
Me after watching Last Kingdom
Dude your neighbors must be scared of you.
Dude! Thrusting snap cut with a machete, that was impressive!
The katana looks swifter but the war sword looks more powerful, I can see how the katana is for fencing with fast moves when the chinese sword feels like it's meant to destroy armor and shields with heavy strikes, or maybe horses.
I think the chinese warsword is meant for more lose quarters and slashing because of its more tip-heavy weight. The weight likely allows for a drawing cut much easier by use of its weight. Chopping as well, going through armor (heavy clothing) perhaps, but not metal of course... But moreso, it's just intimidating LOL
Nice form, great vid! I subscribed.
i came here after watching your review on the cold steel katana video love it man keen to learn more
Good technike, stand position a transition, and your head still. Thanks for review
Alright so I've gone frame by frame in nearly every single fucking sword slice on this video and I swear to fucking God that this man is either a superhuman or frame editing master because everytime the sword contacts the sword the immediate next frame is the bottle exploding with the sword already gone through it. This is fucking nuts dude sweet jesus I spent like thirty minutes looking at this clips with my friends and I cannot find one instance where the actual cutting of the bottle was slow enough for your camera to catch it. I have no idea how you have done this but I am more afraid for my life than I have ever been and I swear to God if I ever see you walking down the street I am running the fuck away because you could strike me down without me even realizing you had even unsheathed your blade.
wtf damn bro u get views. u gotta keep this up!
fuck ya, gotta film some bottle cutting
cutting that recycling container in half would have been impressive :P
Hello friend! Have you tried the Thai Machete? For me, I'm debating whether to buy the Chinese War Sword or the Thai
I enjoy both but that damn Katana needs some tweaking to the handle, not enjoyable when those knobs dig into your hand when chopping at something hard. a quick razor swipe on each side removed them and made it more comfortable to use
Frank Campbell agreed
Frank Campbell I sanded the edges off the "wraps" and now it feels great.
Aaaaaand I bet you had to move after this.
Neighborhood watch.
Nice vid.
Porter Fox you must live in Los Angeles
I would like to know how long have you been practicing your arts in other words how long does it take you to get to where you are with the moves that you make how long did it take to to achieve this
After about 6 month of being trained by a trainer, you should be capable of doing those moves, but obviously more sloppy, after 1 year you’ll be comparable to his level
Hi from France, highly impressive video . I have the Cold Steel Chinese War Sword, the point of balance seems to be closer from the guard than the machete . It's heavier too . I made a video about the unboxing of that sword . It cuts easily jugs, you have the noise but not the shock of the blade on the jug ...
War sword machete looks wicked
You need to do a war sword demo with tassels or red silk on the ring!!
Nice to see yoy again!
I love your katana, hope you make a test cut soon!
Which is better?
Good to see you back:) nice cutting session.
Super cool video! Looks like fun! I have a few cold steels. Always a good time.
Nice moves...what's your martial arts training background?
I'm just making a joke. Not trying to offend you. If anything I would say it's more of a complaint in my humble opinion. But do you remember that comedian that used to break fruit on his shows . It would fly all over the fans. They started wearing plastic. I forgot his name. Your the Asian American version of him . $$$ you know what I'm saying. You could definitely pull that off. You definitely have a badass swing.. kudos to you Sir .I always enjoy your videos. You provide me with useful information when I bought that sword. With entertainment value. Thanks young man
THANKYOU SIR!!!!! yeah i don't remember his name but i know who you're talking about lol the golden days of saturday night live

That was neat, can you test katana vs machete, edge vs edge?
Your form is very smooth really enjoyed the video happy to see other's train as well...... You will only fight the was you train.
Is the war sword considered a slashing weapon?
BLUEFLAME it depends on what you call slashing vs cutting vs chopping , but yeah it can do all 3
it is there to chop and slash.
BLUEFLAME invented by Song Dynasty , use it to cut off Mongol and jing ‘s horse feet
I have the Chinese War sword. Love it. I'm going to eventually get the other in your video
Chinese warsword vs katana...
Claymore wins
@Snek Supremacist. Mayocide
Ya mean highlandic war sword?
Cool stuff and great handling. 🙂👍👍👍
I’ll take both and the end for collecting. Already Too many junks at home 🏡

is that katen kyokotsu?
Are these the ones from amazon
The warsword machete is from ltspecpro under the name chinese sword machete and the tacticla katana machete was from amazon
how hard do you think the blade is? like on HRC scale
Why are these machetes and not swords? Especially the katana one?
Probably because they’re made differently
They are extremely inexpensive models, made out of lesser steel, stamped out blanks, plastic handles...their real Chinese War Sword will run you over $300, this one is like $50 or less. Still fun to play with obviously!
The guy at Cold Steel who came up with the design said he always wanted to make a katana that everyone could buy because he has to save alot to buy a quality sword when he was young. Then he came up with a machete blade with inferior steel and traditional fittings yet still able to cut as good as a decent katana.
@@jaketheasianguy3307 Thank you all :)
@@jaketheasianguy3307 For me, this machete is a sword
"Its not a real katana" 😢 😞
Its not a real Chinese war sword either but it will lob off a head!!
Zombie apocalypse he's ready
Haha true 😅
Cool machetes my favorite part was when it was on slow motion
Your like 5'5 (no disrespect) but can you wield those to your advantage those look heavy
Oh I’m 5’2 :) and those aren’t that heavy for me :p ty for your consideration
@@ArfooHuroowow i thought you were 5'8, cool moves. Im short too😂
I like your technique ! Make a video of sharpening the tactical machete
Great channel,loving it cheers.
Also which one would you recommend
It depends on the person and what you want with it, watch the video and see what i think of both : )
10:17
It just a katana style, i think it's not a real katana
what
Who...
70% arm force used 30% sharpness
Before watching: we all know the katana doesn't stand a chance against the chinese war sword.
Bro, I think that Chinese war sword takes a lot less effort to Slice with and an absolute beginner can use it too
I'm definitely gonna go with the war sword for practical use, But with the Katana for style points.
Chaos Lord katana is easier because it’s longer but warsword is harder to use but has more potential for damage
@@ArfooHuroo It's best to buy both
I imagine if the trash can live, every time you cut it will surely close its eyes and take a deep breath 😂😂
You covered everything very well - those CS machetes look terrible IMO - like cardboard cutouts a parent might make for their kids fancy dress or something :-)
Cold Steel do make incredible Bokkens but I wouldn't rush to them for real swords.
In terms of how little they cost and how tough they are though I think they are worthy blades
I have a cold steel slant tip 21 inch machete and let's just say yea it's not pretty 😂 its definitely not like a katana or something . But will it get the job done well? Fuck yea it will . This chinese war sword looks even better , I can't wait for mine to come in then I'm gonna do a video on it
Very cool, informative video.
Should you buy both, which is better?
ED _ I’ll say the Chinese war sword machete , I have both , the Chinese sword machete is just a crazier and better blade in my opinion, it almost feels like a sword. Cuts better and more durable as well, and will be more effective fighting against people with other weapons, but hope you never need to though.
ED _ but both are cool though, if you have the money definitely get both and try it out.
@@YAOZII Okay ☺️
The katana to me is more space practical. Like if you have to run downstairs and start hacking at shit lol. The chinese sword is too bulky and not good in close quarters, well any sword over 2 feet long really isnt. Open big areas like a driveway? Yea the war sword will demolish but I just like the katana feel better. I traded/borrowed the war sword and let someone use my katana. To me the feel was slower and I can get off with the katana without as much maneuvering. All in all it's personal preference. Chinese sword for power/katana for speed.
both is better
Yeah they really cut. 😊😊 Also home defense
Refreshing
Which machete did you prefer?
Sylvan Strength I prefer the Chinese warsword because its heavier weight makes it better at chopping harder targets
@@ArfooHuroo Awesome, thanks! I've definitely been looking at it and may pick it up later on. If you're interested, you should check out the Marbles MR374 sword machete. It has a 22 inch saber shaped blade and I'd love to hear your opinion on it. The wooden handle will need some shaping and maybe wrapping. The edge will need touching up. Over all, I still highly recommend it for a single handed sword machete.
I got the Chinese War Sword, because THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED ANOTHER KATANA!!!..... Granted, this Katana ("Machete") is pretty good.
Edit: I've got both now :D
The war sword is WWII style, Chinese army used it in close quarter combat. The original one probably got some Japanese soldiers’ blood on it......
Wich is best please
both is best
I prefer the machete because it has +100 DMG points
Good to see ur neighbours so laxed about u swinging blades around. Had I done that I'd have the armed offenders squad at my door step. Great form. Great video.
Holy fuck the machete has some oomf to it.
Thank you for this vid
Ohh pero que samurai mas papu
It’s a machete not an expensive weapon. I sharpen mine with I metal file.
Katana is for quick cut, Chinese war sword is for heavy chop.
Be friend, My water so is Tang dao
At a mere aesthetical level, IMO I prefer the Chinese one, based upon Dadao swords. Katana machete is, hands down, reliable, but not so appealing to me :-)
I don't want to debate personal tastes at all, don't get me wrong, but I've saw those two Machete in person and, hands down, the Chinese one is more detailed (with the classic 'ring' a la Dadao sword), bigger, with more weight... heck, even in the guard those two 'wings' are quite pointed.
While the Tactical Katana Machete leaved me with a 'Meh' feeling: ain't debating the quality of the blade etc eh, that's a very reliable product, only that didn't impressed me aesthetically speaking :-)
Well, keep in mind that, while indeed a 'Katana' is definitely more popular (and btw even thanks to Anime and such) than a Chinese Dadao, here we aren't talking about swords but Machetes.
Arguably we can say that, more than a Machete, those two Cold Steel products really seems swords, but truth is, those remains very good quality, honest priced, Machete.
Now, there's Katana and Katana: a real Nihonto, here where I live (Italy), starts from 4000 Euro, and, mind, nothing particular 'fancy' (e.g decorations etc). Still, a Japanese Tamahagane blade made from Japanese artisan masters, a Nihonto coming with all the authenticity papers etc
Granted, 4000 Euro is a price tag not exactly affordable for everyone, plus, and this is extremely important, unless 'you' really are a Togishi, you don't want to use a real Shinken for cutting bottles and stuff, because 'you' can't resharp such a jewel... only a Togishi can -- this explain why a good one ask even $100 for 1 inches of blade!
In sum, a real Katana Shinken is a "watch, don't touch" sort of relic.
For practice, there's non Japanese Katanas, such Paul Chen, Cold Steel etc but, again, they are more priced than this one of the video... that's why Cold Steel boss, Lynn C. Thompson, invented the Katana Machete: for give to people that can't afford a real Katana (or a more priced imitation) the opportunity, but still, remains a machete.
Yes, I'm Italian. Lombardy region, northern Italy :-)
Well, obviously Japan is an amazing nation, this is a fact. I love their traditions and traditionalism. I love what they achieved.
But, not considering now at all China for their cheap quality, mass produced products and leaving politics out, let me tell you this, speaking only about swords and edged weapons only: China created amazing weapons.
The Dadao sword is really intimidating. The Pu Dao, their Gim swords, the wolf teeth club etc those are very good weapons that every collector should have.
Jacky Phantom HAHAHAHA nice one. Most Japanese culture originated in China. That includes, and is not limited to, the katana.
@Jacky Phantom Frankly I don't get why so many people (worldwide) undermine China and Chinese history/achievements so much :-)
In Laoquan (probably I spelled this wrong) there's a very, very good sword tradition: they create very good quality blades.
Is the machete you actually have a sword or knife?
Originally a sword
Hell, even the mexicans use it as a sword

Tim Sanders How does the Chinese war machete handle in one-hand strikes as traditional machetes are used? Thinking about getting one of these beasts for camping/firewood/brush duties.
@@Divine_Serpent_Geh far too heavy .. I'd get a kukri or cold steel's tanto machete if one handed is your thing
Gary 43 Thanks for the reply. Ended up getting the Katana Machete, to practice Iaido/Temashigiri until I work my way up to a real Katana, and still have a quality bushwhacking tool.
It’s a monster, great for brush and even fairly thick branches are no hurdle for it. I can wield it with one hand just fine, which I also love.
@@Divine_Serpent_Geh awesome.. considering getting the Wakizashi machete myself.. actually Amazon has two nicer Katana for under $120.. there's a $50 Musha Shirasaya, as well as a $110 musashi tactical Katana.. best of luck with finding the product which suits you.
nvabeach 2 Thanks! When I get my first actual sword (Katana), I’ll probably be getting the Mizutori Katana or Gold Lion Katana, both are from Cold Steel.
If their swords are like their machetes in terms of durability, they must be monsters.
