This video turns 10 years old today
and 1 year later (which will be soon) it will be 10th anniversary of batman ak.
Even though it’s not as fleshed out, seeing Old Gotham before it became Arkham City is still amazing, and I also gotta commend what WB Montreal were able to do in only 20 months
Copy and paste tbh done very badly . I played asylum and city and the movements are far better
I definitely preferred the environment in AC, it just had so much more detail. Origins felt kinda empty and had far less Easter Eggs scattered around. Great video btw!
Because it was in a worse state than before

It’s crazy how people complained about this game then we got GK and JLKSS and Origins really doesn’t look so bad and plus we actually got to fight Slade and it wasn’t a tank battle!
Slade fight was so disappointing.
There was so much hype for him, and you only fight him once early in the game and he is gone from the story. The fact that Slade was taken out why a rookie Batman is so lame
@@Indigo_1001 Yep but at least we fought him and he wasn’t in a Tank
@@Indigo_1001cope
@@Indigo_1001 That doesn't mean the fight itself was bad. Rather that than have a tank battle bro
I loved Arkham CIty visually, but I never truly appreciated it until I started playing Arkham Origins. I instantly noticed something was off and it wasn't just the empty lifeless streets; all the color and light was sucked out from the environment. AO did a great job at modelling Gotham city, but as far as atmosphere goes AC is on another level.
Ac makes a more colorful and AO makes a more dark approach .
ao didint model the city they just copied ac and threw some extra parts
Asylum has the best atmosphere imo
Arkham Origins was going for that cold and lifeless atmosphere. While everyone else is at home celebrating Christmas with their loved ones, Bruce is all alone, isolated and cold. You could say it succeeded.
wheres the interview where the creators said this because to me it seems like you just pulled it out your ass@Terminal_Apotos
Everything (except for the cape) in Arkham City is better. It makes Origins look like a older game, in my opinion.
Evaquiel
The cutscenes in Origins did look gorgeous though.
To be honest though, im not sure if that was intentional. Because, don't forget Gotham was in a worse state before Batman turned up and since his arrival many businesses likely got better as more criminals were scared off and imprisoned over the years. Not to mention Wayne probably had a huge part in renovating many of the older structures during that time.
Yeah but this I’m pretty sure is the remastered one in city. I wish they remastered origins
Origins cape is looking good because it a running on PC
And Nvidia adds more detail to the cape
City is on console that's why the difference
Otherwise the cape in city is way better than than origins
Suit design in origins is better too
My initial reaction gliding over the city in Origins was complete disappointment. I was so looking forward to visiting old Gotham as it would have been before Arkham City and yet somehow they managed to make it feel even less inhabited. The team at Rocksteady know how to make an attractive and detailed environment.
Think it's mostly because you already played in the city
Well I actually disagree I loved visiting the city to how it was before it became the prison. I think they did a fantastic job
It also really disappointed me that so much was directly lifted from City (e.g. the Arkham City gate), and they didn't actually show the courtyard that was seen in City. And the boundary feels super barren, and it'd be nice if they included some docks or low-rise buildings behind the court house or museum.
Knights Of HamillLove wasn't this made by Warner Bros?
@@headblowerblowed860 I played origins before the city and I have same opinion.
They did a really good job being accurate in Origins.
@TheLatiosnlatias02 That happens in every Arkham game
@@tuningequalyes yeah makes absolutely no sense at all. They shouldn’t have reused any part of the AC map and just set it in another part of Gotham.

@TheLatiosnlatias02 Tbh it doesn’t even matter since the whole skyline is changed in Arkham knight anyway
Accurate? Bruh they just copied and pasted Arkham city map
I always loved the cold, dark, creepy atmosphere of Arkham Origins
Ah! I've been waiting for a video like this since I don't have gameplay recording equipment. I wondered how difficult it would be to synchronize the two, and you did a fantastic job. I'm most curious about the "Old GCPD"/Casino area, because it seems to have changed the most between the two games.
I'd love to see more!
Areas where the wall is vs. isn't, like behind the Museum and Courthouse.
The processing area entrance of Arkham City vs. the corresponding area outside Jezebel Plaza in Origins
The view standing on top of the ACE Chemicals building, looking down at the courthouse, then flying to the courthouse.
The steps "outside the wall" where Catwoman leaves the vault in scenario A.
So good. Thank you for posting!
Thank you.^^ Since i finished my last video( ruclips.net/video/JxTGnIeT1XQ/видео.html ), the next video will be a bigger comparison of the city and interiors of both games. GCPD and Casino are already recorded weaks ago but not cut and rendered. Time is very rare in this universe. :D
""Old GCPD"/Casino area, because it seems to have changed the most between the two games." it changed unrecognizable :D ruclips.net/video/TXhEkcwFCGw/видео.html @3:32
The old gcpd building well it's actually about to be built in a year after origins but in origins it's still a railway. Looks the same tho
I kind of want to make a mod where I import the maps from Arkham City/Origins into Arkham Knight and then connect the islands in the other two games to the islands and NPC's Arkham Knight so you can you drive around the entirety of Gotham!
Do it pls
The attention for details is amazing.
These guys did fantastic for old gotham
You must timed those fry skills.
Am I the only one who prefers the look of the city in Origins more? I was a huge fan of the Burton Batman movies (especially the '89 one) and how his Gotham city looked like. Dark, full of crime and depressimg. Somehow I feel like the Gotham in Origins captured that style better. I don't know maybe it's just because of the more snow you can see less details in the distance. I mean in Arkham City the vibrant colors and prison lights all over the place aren't exactly screaming Batman to me. While paired with that awesome christmas music Origins definietly has its atmosphare and the feel of emptiness just adds to the depressing crime fighter persona of Batman.
Agree
It’s so dull and flat. Graphically it’s ugly in comparison. What are you talking about?
It screams "comic book" or "cartoon batman", to me.
Also it's not full of crime, it's empty as fuck
What do you mean i feel like origins is more colorful than arkham city and arkham city is darker
I'd say that Origins had slightly better graphics and a bigger map but City had a more vibrant map.
***** I think its fine but City had a more vibrant look to it despite it being smaller
+Farhan Kapadia Yeah and better lighting because of neon advertisements everywhere. The Batman in Origins also looks too military-ish and City keeps the classic batman look with the latest technology. But yeah graphics and bigger map/ this was also before that portion became Arkham City (why it's lifeless) of thugs anyways
I have to say, when I first played this game around 10 years ago, I never noticed the maps were the same at all lmao
You can see how batman grapple gun in city is lot farther than origins proof that there is a difference between them both in terms of gadgets
So, the place for arkham origins is the same place for arkham city before shit went down?
Yup
Actually no they are completely different islands with similar architecture
Arkham city is north Gotham and origins map is south gotham

I like more the city in arkham city... better graphics... but i love arkham origins too
I like both citys but the cape from Batman looks much better in arkham origins 1:00
I agree. Arkham City is more colorful, has more going on in the background with the foreboding sky, lightning, and the cityscape across the river being closer. It feels richer, more dense. I love looking around the Arkham Origins Gotham, too, but feeling more like a real city makes it inherently less interesting.
In Origins, I do love the juxtaposition of crime, blizzard, and Christmas decorations. I love being able to traverse parts of the city we couldn't before because of the wall. One of my favorite areas is the plaza in front of Wonder Tower. It's almost sad knowing it will be bulldozed and paved over for Strange's command center.
I don't understand some of the places where the Wind from Hell blows Batman back into the playing area, especially around the hotel. Why not let us go around the water side of the hotel? The water would have made a perfect barrier instead of arbitrary winds.
***** I think from a technical standpoint arkham city has the better graphics. Its just that big part of the art style of the arkham games was that it would brown and gray envirornments contrasted by beutiful vibrant colors. Here With origins the snow kind of mutes said color and makes it look more white and grey
The graphics in Arkham origins are actually better than the ones in city by a couple of things.
+Chad-Michael Simon Because there was a snow storm.
The fog and weather conditions in Origins just suck. My theory is they did it to hide assets loading in, since the map is double the size of City’s. Could just be a dumb design decision tho
I’ve never played Arkham origins so I had no idea you played in Northern Gotham in both games
Since Origins is the prequel of the series, it is understandable that later in the events of City, Quincy Sharp buys North Gotham to create "Arkham City".
To think that we explore the out of bounds areas thought the entire franchise, arkham asylum, northern part of gotham city became arkham city in the future, and we explored the area where the gigantic Gothic bank and Wayne Tower were located in Arkham Knight, what a coincidence, right?
I didn't realize those two games were so similar
The buildings are taller in origins
Origins soundtrack was so good😢
I was in this weird situation where I was playing Arkham City and Origins at more or less the same time, and Origins really annoyed me with just how similar it was to City, but with far, far more bugs. This wasn't at launch either. They basically just copied 40% of the map, 80% of the gameplay, and they still couldn't release a finished product? I know that's not entirely the fault of the dev team and more likely WB, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Origins wasn't a bad game, but it vastly needed to be a much better game.
Origins was a prequel to City the original Gotham that's why it was so similar.
Origins was a prequel to City the original Gotham that's why it was so similar.
Bro they only had 20 months.
Also the UI looks incredibly stale and almost unfinished, like a prototype of the game. The map is terrible and the skill improvement tree isn't intuitive whatsoever. I come from playing Arkham Knight and I know that it's not fair to compare it to Origins, but Origins just leaves me with this feeling it's not a finished game. Also graphically, indoor levels look good or ok at worst, but the outdoor graphics look bad even for a 2013 game. The snow and fire effects, the smoke bomb, they all look like Wii levels of polish.
Arkham City really has an insane amount of detail to it though. Its no surprise really nothing can live up to it
In arkham origins it was interesting to see Arkham City again but before it became a prison, but the train station that would literally be the old DPCG in Arkham city loses meaning, only in Origins it is a train station and apart from that it doesn't make sense that It is bigger than in Arkham City and worse, most of the buildings seen in Arkham City are poorly positioned, be it the toy factory, the wonder tower, the train station that would be the old police station, the courts or the "gotham" building casino". Still it was a good game
I find it really hard to defend Origins because all they did is re use the map from city and covered it in snow. The city/ map in Arkham City and Knight felt much more alive. Even the new diamond district in origins pales in comparison.
I respectfully have to disagree with you. I think 'Arkham City' is the better game but I liked a lot of the new areas 'Arkham Origins' had like the Gotham City Royal Hotel, 'The Penguin's Ship, the GCPD building, Blackgate Prison, Wayne Manor, the Mad Hatter's World and GothCorp and the whole New Gotham area was the same size as Old Gotham. I also liked the Christmas setting.
That’s is because Arkham origins is canon and they have to stay accurate to the Arkham lore it isn’t there fault
I'm sure no one's really gonna care for this comment, but Origins seemed to have this kinda... Cartoony aspect to it. However, I am not against this by any means. I actually really liked it.
I loved orgins. My personal favorite Batman game of all time. It just gives me a special feeling every time I play it.
So nice that we see what was still a Island in Gotham city before it was Arkham City. Like in Arkham Knight Gotham City was different Islands with bridges attached and there was a Much larger Island with a bigger bridge connecting was Arkham City before it was A different City.
You should do this again when AK comes out.
Kermit the frog i will
Thing is is that AK does not allow you to go to Old Gotham, yet you can still see it
The Arkham series is going down as the best Batman games. I can't wait to see his return in the suicide squad game. R.i.p. Kevin Conroy
I noticed the gold glowing part of wonder tower looks like an upside down owl? (Court of owls easter egg)
So arkham city was old gotham city
Old/North Gotham

@@bumblebee7547 I know that. I was agreeing with him. "Old/North Gotham" is what Arkham Origins's second island is........
1:32 - The difference is remarkable. Arkham Origins was a shell of its predecessor, and looked nothing like a true batman game. The graphics have been downgraded, the story was weak in comparison to the previous two and it was just not as fun as AC or AA.
the graphics arent downgraded they are just different . The gray sky makes it look like its degraded .
I found that increasing the sharpness of my tv, upping the color a little, and changing the color temp. To mostly blue helped it look better, in my opinion anyways
It downgraded because it was an... Origin........ No? Ok
SoJezzalicious It isn't even downgraded it just has fog so it isn't rasinbows , butterflies and unicorns as arkham city .

The whole game is
Gotta go with origins half arkham city half new with Christmas decorations and a snowstorm its a no brainer unless you hate in-game snow and a larger city lol
Origins a good ass game it gives me 2000s batman vibe and AC gives me mid 2000s vibe both ar 🔥🔥🔥😌
So Arkham origins and arkham city is on the same map?
No they are different
Origins is South Gotham and city is north Gotham
But devs at wb Montreal were new to superhero game development so they mostly copy posted that city
Imo origins is better because of how good they made it look as a game.
For context,
The studio was forced to make a game as big as Arkham City but with the time it took to make Arkham Asylum.
I like seeing Arkham island before it became Arkham city just wish it was more detailed and the buildings were more accurate to the ones in arkham citu

I actually did not know that Origins is set in Arkham City (never played Origins). Wow. But come on people, Arkham Knight was just three small islands, WE WANT TO FREE ROAM IN THE WHOLE GOTHAM!!! OR AT LEAST A PART THAT IS AT LEAST THREE TIMES BIGGER THAN KNIGHT!!!
No we don’t.
Arkham Origins showed how deeply flawed open world exploration can be.
We might get that. The new game may be so big, we get to use the batwing to get around
Arkham Origins is my Fav
Arkham Origins missed some details, Arkham city lightning is better
I think both
Arkham Origins is actually my favorite of the 4 games. I loved all of them, and Arkham city was amazing, but origins had the best fights in all of them. I was really disappointed in Arkham knight to see how they got rid of armored thugs and the martial artists from Origins. (Not to mention stealth was way worse in AK).
Mainly, I loved Origins the most because it just took Arkham City and gave us more of it. If Arkham knight had done the same, I'd have said it was the best, but sadly they made stealth and combat worse than City and Origins. They definitely did try to make the vehicle combat fun, but it's just missing the point of the Arkham Games.
Graphics in cold cold heart dlc is much better
which game is better I'm confused

why because it has better boss battles?
Try both. Origins has best bosses in the series.

if game devs were smart, after the flop of ssktjl, WB games, or some other people would do a game like arkham origins, another game in the Arkham verse like all batman Arkham games, but using Someone like nightwing, in bludhaven, or robin in gotham city, robin has been robin for years, Since a little bit before arkham city, so him being the protagonist knowing batman is with the justice league he is the new face of gotham, and having free reign because hes more experienced, giving us a good new story, and a bigger city. everyone loved playing as robin, and robin has all the same things as batman+ his staff, and maybe a robin bike. same with nightwing. but imagine robin vs red hood as a side mission in gotham city, Him faceing a robin, when he was a threat to batman, would make for a batman vs deathstroke type of fight

It's gotten annoying since those very people are the loud minority not willing to accept the truth - it's the worst Arkham game. You guys have to remember!
Origins WAS NOT even suppose to happen. It was created for the sole fact that AK was going to take 4+ years to develop so WB Games conjured something to hold fans over in between the AC and Arkham Knight.
The messed up part is Arkham Knight ended up getting delayed even further. Now we have a game the could honestly been a masterpiece had they delayed the game until Mid 2014 but NO let’s push it out the door and get whatever dollar or 2 we can from it.
Both Arkham Origins & Knight needed more time to fleshed out has Arkham Origins had some kinks that had to worked out as well as the script needing some refinement and the story had some *very* rushed pacing. Arkham Knight on the other hand feels a lot more like a beta with a bunch of new ideas being tested but not fully fleshed out.
Ultimately Origins needed more time to Cook but Warner Bros Games wasn’t having it. Both AO and AK individually sold a little over HALF of what Arkham City has sold in its lifetime and it obvious why.
PS: AND THEY STILL WON’T LET US PUT ROBIN’S HOOD ON!!!
Origins city is so fucking ugly to look at
Also despite copying from City, it's pretty damn empty and the new areas they added aren't very well designed.
