MY PET MACAW PARROT HAS BITTEN OFF MY EAR!

My Catalina Macaw Hope Attacked me because he was hormonal and bit of my ear.
I had to rush myself into the ER and get my Ear stitched up. My parrot had clamped onto my ear.
for a few seconds before letting go.
I was healthy and systemically well before the attack. Nurses revealed a jagged 3-cm laceration to the ulnar border of the left EAR.
The Bite was painful, and middle tenderness was elicited..I underwent formal wound washout and repair of the laceration. The fracture was managed conservatively with Stitching.

I'm so sorry... My hands has several cuts and bruises from just three days of my 4 yr old Senegal biting me and attacking my hand!! It is hormones!! 😢

I will pray God helps you with the pain and to heal well. The hormones this time of year are ridiculous. I think we all need to think de-escalate. I feel terrible for you. I need an exorcism for one of mine right now. It's seriously disturbing to watch him in the morning. I have him in his cage right now. I let him out if he calms down but I watch him for an hour or so every morning until I know he's okay.

Could it be all this nasty low culture trash frequencies that abound the planet? People are getting worse by the day, these little creatures are receptors of frequencies and moods
You have to remember they are just 2 year old toddlers and are not responsible for their actions. I'm sure if Hopey had sense, he would not have bitten his mommy but his brain is not developed to know better. Please just be more careful and don't punish him too bad.

Im so sorry this happened to you. I have 3 macaws, a harlequin, a B&G and a Severe. About 20 years ago, my B&G bit my lower lip and pulled it through the cage bars. 7 stitches in my gums and lip later, I still love all of my birds to this day! They are no longer in cages and they have huge playpens for each bird. They dont like each other thankfully and I rarely get bitten now a days. Yes, this is a very hormonal time for them, I do agree with that! Feel better soon!

I got bitten in my lip 3 months ago by another macaw and I was lucky I didn’t need stitches.

Wow! I am sorry, I have a DYH Amazon that bites really bad. I keep trying and I don't act fearful because they can smell fear. I know you didn't have any warning, most times I don't either. I watch him carefully now though.
That looked so painful, especially the harder cartilage part of the ear really hurts to be damaged. When you have to get injections having someone massage your hand firmly can help distract you brain. An Asian Dr. showed me how to do this for my kids because they were afraid of the needle pain. It really works, so I've also gone to the doctor with adults who are needle shy. 💖

Carolin ❤️ sweet beautiful dear, I am so sorry for your pain, I've been bitten by my mom's birds including her umbrella Cockatoo, when I visited her years ago, and I described it as being stabbed because you are being stabbed, by their razor sharp beak which is thick bone usually hook shaped to make it worse excruciating, my goodness I've been bit by many beautiful pets of my own, nothing compares to a parrot bite, I am sending you love, and healing blessings 🙏❤️🙏🥰 you are such a fabulous person Carolin so wonderful to your beloved parrots 🦜❤️🦜 😘

Can somebody tell me is it the springtime that they get hormonal? lately I had to give away my medium size Amazon bird because he bit my thumb while I was replacing her food dish never done before and she was screaming like wining voices every morning during this season every year and the rest of the year almost quiet calm, why is it they get that way in spring what do they want, my other Amazon looks hyper too in this season I'm careful with that one also

I just saw that pre attack footage and it seemed that weird chant got Hopey into a frenzy, he was already hormonal and that got him over the top 😆😆
Yikes that looks bad it's all bruised, red and swollen and obviously those bite marks look pretty bad too.

Hormonal birds are very bad for biting, my bird has bitten my face before, just dived at me and took a cxhunk out.... it happens, I know ears bleed a lot because of the high blood supply and can be very sore too, but they cant help it, he loves you very much 💗
