Hi Harmin. I'm so sorry YT keeps messing with not only you but some others. YT keeps taking away views on other channels. I do not see anything wrong with any of your videos. You are very respectful of all who are involved with these stories. You never swear and you never get angry and some of these channels the f bomb is tossed around like a college football. I hope it doesn't happen to this video. I can't wait for the video about Connecticut. Don't know what it could be but happy to learn about it. Thank you Harmin for sharing. Safe travels my friend

John A. Warde was his father. His birth year is wrong on the gravestone. John A. Warde was born in 1889 or 1890, according to a 1920 census. John W. Warde's mother and sister also shared the same first name, Katherine.

Some info for context and knowledge, from a, So far all my life local ;)
The hospital he was put into, was called Central Islip Psychiatric Center. Pronounced like Ice Lip. The place goes back to the 1800’s. They are “working” on re-purposing the place. It shut down a long time ago along with Pilgrim State. Kool places to explore though I’m sure there is security roaming around 💁‍♀️, so be careful if you do 😉
Other thing, I find it kinda strange he would choose a bridge out in The Hamptons originally to potentially jump off of vs ones in “The City”(NYC). The bridges are really not that high out here, so unless you were planning on freezing to death in the water there during Winter time, you had a better chance going off the city bridges. Ya travelled there anyways so 💁‍♀️, but you many not be thinking straight at the time either so who knows 🤷‍♀️.
Anyways, it sucks he could not get the real help he needed. I hope he’s at peace now though 🌟

Harmon, Time wrote an article dated Aug 8, 1938 that might make John’s decision more clear: Police ordered him in but he threatened to jump if they touched him. "I've got to work this out for myself," he cried. All afternoon, on his twelve-inch-wide perch, he argued with his sister, a priest, a doctor, a minister. He drank a dozen glasses of water, lit countless cigarets, pondered his problem. Should he finish the act the audience of 10,000 was waiting for, or return ignominiously to safety? The afternoon wore on, evening came. Still John Warde had not solved his problem. At 10:38 he heard the rustle of a rope net which police were vainly trying to anchor below him. He nipped his burning cigaret out and down, 17 floors to the street. "I've made up my mind," he cried, and jumped. The crowd shrieked, rushed forward, suddenly retreated in silence.

FYI - the photo at 0:38 is from a movie about the case, not the actual person

Depression doesn't discriminate. You can be young, wealthy and have everything going for you in life and still commit suicide.

This was made into a 1950s movie. Sad story.
You practically have to get out on a ledge to get help. Those people on suicide hotlines are use less.

So sad! Maybe the other John Warde is an Uncle or a cousin?

Supposedly he told the policeman a secret that the latter never revealed. Wonder why he was wearing a shirt and tie on what was presumably a warm summer day, people did dress up more in those days but there were some version of casual clothes at the time. The group in the hotel may have been planning an outing of some kind. Must have been pretty bad for the sister who probably felt responsible - I suppose there may be some descendants of the family who are disinclined to want to talk about it. Have walked by that hotel many times and always look up at the 17th floor. Also - being from Southampton New York, that town was badly damaged in a hurricane just 2 months later. The parents had a bad year in 1938. Very sad.
