The best trains for comfort, sad they are going. Be perfect to preserve some sets. Happy memories riding them last summer. Thanks for putting in the time to record these brilliant machines.
I have dim and distance memories of the west country in the 60s and 70s on summer holidays ( in Cornwall and Devon ) . It was so beautiful then .I wish I could go back !
Thanks, tbh I don’t know when they will go. I thought they were meant to go in December 2023. It appears that the IETs aren’t as readily available as they thought they’d be, how ironic. Having looked through your videos, I take it you’ll be covering the 2 diesel tours to Penzance next Saturday? - Marazion and Long Rock look like the places to be, weather permitting.
@@steamtothewest-trecanrail yeah I’m not sure. The IETs are less reliable seeing as a lot are delayed these days. Seats nowhere near as comfy, weird humming sounds from the engines and much more shaky. Also yes, I will be seeing the mayzey day tours. I’m gonna try and chase them each way. Any locations that are ideal then let me know. Also I went to see mayflower at Paignton & Teignmouth yesterday and for the first time so look out for that, I’m currently editing it
I shall miss them when they go. The fact that the engines are at either end rather than underneath the carriage makes for a much quieter ride. And most 802s I've ridden on, there is crashing and banging from the bogies. Plus the seats are terrible etc.
Excellent video. But in my opinion should not be withdrawn. They're more comfortable, quieter and if rail companies used They're heads and ran this short configuration with only front power car running at one time they are probably kinder to environment than multiple underfloor engined units that have to rev like crazy! Another case of wasting good equipment. Just my opinion.
Excellent video, great camera work and obviously thought given to locations. Fantastic thank you. Question: A lot of folk make videos and seem to be in fields etc. Do you ask permission or just wing it? (I’m not a landowner or farmer by the way) 😅
It's a fabulous video with wonderful views. Thank you regards Ian.

Sunday night here in Oz and this made a great way to end the weekend, thank you.
Lovely way to start the video with two shots of my home town Castle and favourite 43188. Very good. All the best.
Great trains in beautiful locations. It will be a sad day when the HST's have all gone.
Are they going ? Doesn't seem very long ago since they started ! Are they going anywhere else ? Perhaps Scotrail could use them ?
Wonderful video all will be history one day soon.
Excellent video 😊

Nicely done. 👍
Wonderful video
Thank you, Tom
Fantastic video. Lovely tones and thrash. I thought they were due to continue until next year but I could be wrong

Really nice video with some lovely shots.
I was wondering what camera you use as the quality is great.
Many thanks

Well-done I thought the vast majority of them
had already been shipped over to Mexico
Great to see their Swansong
Thanks, I saw they had gone to Mexico, hopefully they will be treated well.
Some have gone to Nigeria as well
They are not going for a bit yet.
There is only one Castle class which blessed Cornwall for 60 years. It is definitely not a HST diesel unit 🤣
Good video :)
