    There is nothing better than searching for antiques in the fall in PA with a warm coffee, Im an old toy train guy and as usual you have to get there when it first opens to see any in the wild, if you do see old toy trains they are usually overpriced common items in rough condition......and I always end up buying them anyway, LOL, I would have blown all my money at that first table and then regretted it the rest if the day when I found something bettet at the end of the day LOL!

      @@oldcuriosityshop265 Oh me too, while being stuck at home Ive been having a blast binge watching your older videos while I am reorganizing my collection of old junk/antiques/clutter. Ive learned two things watching this channel, 1. knowledge of the items and actual value and self restraint while spending are very important, 2. Scott, I thought I would mention a great art project that you might enjoy. Years ago, a friend took apart an old, non-functioning pocket watch and displayed the case and the inner workings in a frame. I think she backed the works using a piece of felt (or velvet) glued to thin cardboard to sit inside the frame. I didn't ask how she attached the pieces to the cardboard, but I would think "sewing" them on using invisible or metallic thread would work. The "exploded" display was so interesting! Who really thinks about the inner workings of a pocket watch? Or a clock, for that matter?

    Those pocket watch part were cool! Great for repairs, we went to the alameda point antiques fair. It’s the biggest on this side of America with 2000 vendors. Boon I’ve been to the Alameda Flea Market too. It’s really an antique and repurpose market and is on the pricey side. I wish we had real flea markets not just ones selling new stuff.

    • @tuileriesantiques9057
      @tuileriesantiques9057 5 лет назад

      Yeah. Most markets in this area do that. Though alameda point actually has a lot of antiques. Majority I’ve been to have had almost all antique and vintage items! And it’s not too pricey, I got a beautiful French porcelain mantel clock worth (sold value) 550$! And I got it for 50$!! And also a lot of antique clocks I got there were 20$! And I got an antique folding table (sold value 300$) that folds into a dining table for 40$! A lot of deals. Some people put things expensive because they are professional in that hobby. So that’s why those stands are avoided.

      Oh golly miss molly! I'm going to give a "talk" in an upcoming video about steam punk and my thoughts pro and con. To be honest, I'm glad I rescued the TV box BEFORE it was destroyed! I guess that tips my hat when it comes to altering things that have survived in their original condition. Now I appreciate your opinion and I'm not saying that I am against the creative expression of steam punk. I'm perfectly fine with it when the creators use broken or miscellaneous random parts to create and give new life to what might have been tossed out. However.....I am totally against the idea of destroying and item that has survived intact and often of great value to certain collectors. That video amplifier is rare and dates to the very dawn of television production in this country and it has survived unscathed. It would just make me cringe and cry to see it turned into a steam punk lamp! Ok. I'm not fussing at you so please please don't take offence. I know my opinion might not be the popular one but I am a purist when it comes to preservation. I value open discussion on this issue and I think the topic is fascinating. Thanks Pamela. And yes....I would have to agree with you on the remains of the old telephone workings. Clearly it's not a rare item and in the current state, it would be an awesome project for a steam punk creator. :)

I hate seeing old cars and trucks setting in the filled and on the side of the roads classic beauty that once was, If I ever made steampunk I would just use the broken stuff for sure. I love the creativity of steampunk but its not my style at all. I have made some earrings for my Etsy shop, But I love Victorine/Steampunk clothes. If I was young I would be all over that style, but I'm just an old poot, I am Chabby chic and Victorine all the way as far as my home decore If I could afford the look. oh and If I had a home. @@oldcuriosityshop265 I have seen some valuable antiques butchered by steampunk artists and when I talked to them found out they had no clue it was anything valuable just like I see many of the twenty somethings dumping things they inherit at the thrift shops because they don't consider them "cool enough" for them. Of course I am always happy to take in the discarded pieces at thrift store prices but it pains me to see a generation with no appreciation of the past or anything that belonged to earlier generations. I have taught my children and grandchildren it is better to buy something old and made to last rather than a bunch of junk that won't last a year from a chain store that usually cost more. They love showing grandma the treasures they find.
