Probably the best part of the movie. Once they crested the mountain they should've spread out a bit and unleashed their rockets and chainguns and saved the hellfires for the ship(even though they self destructed it anyway).
Weird as hell, but you gotta hand it to this scene. Classic hollywood aliens are all to often flawed by being too human to be believable. Hard to make the same criticism of Dreamcatcher's aliens. The quality of this video doesn't really do it justice.
If the aliens were a great threat to them, then yes they would call in the Apaches as well as calling in F-15 Strike Eagle or the A-10 Warthog instead. I'm just saying that you rarely see them deploy B-2 Bombers on a simple target unlessthey are after a high valuable target like Osama Bin Laden for example. B2 Bomber cost a lot plus you have other aircraft that gets the job done like F-16 with cluster bomb, A-10's firing GAU/8 30mm DUs or better off the AC-130 Gunships instead.
But they can land and re-use the helicopters at their base. Plus their more suited for the hunter-killer operations. Maybe they didnt want to destroy the ship :o save it for study. But yeah they could of carpet bombed all the aliens, either way some would of escaped
the thing is an AH-64 you can get in close and cause less unnessacary damage (since the Army would probably want a alien space ship). Plus there are only 20 B-2s in service, and have a relatively small payload of 40,000IBs. plus are only stationed at Whiteman AFB. so if i was to send in any bomb i'd sender in a B-1B which is faster and has triple the payload of a B-2
although one thing i do not understand is you can see them use their hellfire ATGMs. when these would be almost useless in that scenario. you'd be better off using the 70mm FFARs
I doubt the army even has the authorities to call in the B2 Bombers (I might be wrong). Of course either calling in artillery, MLRs or stick with the AH-64D Apaches only this time firing at long distance should have been good enough.
@Raybi3z that's a mental ability they have, I'm talkin about 3:11 onward, haven't you seen the movie? they demolecule themselves and infect humans via intravenose, they can get in and out easily, exploding and reconstructing themselves.
I dont think they'd drop a nuke even in a movie :3 i cant remember if they wanted the ship intact or not.. The one thing Apaches can do that the others cannot, is hover ;o they can hover above the landing zone and continue to rain death and watch where the aliens flee too and break off to peruse. Dont understand why the aliens didnt run to begin with :3
