Five LSU football recruiting targets to monitor entering the early signing period
LSU football's 2025 recruiting class was always more than just about Bryce Underwood.
Certainly the five-star quarterback and No. 1 overall recruit was going to dominate the headlines. He was on track to becoming the heir apparent to Garrett Nussmeier and would have been the first No. 1 overall recruit to sign with the Tigers since Leonard Fournette.
But even with Underwood out of the picture and destined for Michigan, there's still plenty of recruits for LSU fans to monitor entering Wednesday's early signing period.
Here are five players to keep an eye on.
DJ Pickett
Pickett has been committed to LSU since July, but Miami and Georgia have been trying to get the five-star cornerback to flip his pledge, according to On3 Sports.
The good news for the Tigers is that Pickett was in Baton Rouge during their win over Oklahoma. And following Underwood's decision, they likely have some extra NIL funds to offer Pickett if that's what it'll take to maintain his commitment.
LSU needs Pickett, and not just because he's the Tigers' highest rated recruit and the No. 12 overall player in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite. At 6-foot-4, he's an elite talent at a position of need and has a chance of starting next season with Zy Alexander off to the NFL.
Jahkeem Stewart
Stewart's recruitment has been a whirlwind. The defensive tackle transferred from St. Augustine to Edna Karr High this fall and reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class while maintaining his status as a five-star recruit.
He's still uncommitted but On3 Sports and 247Sports have predicted that he'll eventually sign with Southern Cal. But On3 Sports has also reported that Stewart visited LSU last Wednesday.
Like with Pickett, Stewart would fill a long term position of need for the Tigers on the defensive line. The No. 3 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 16 overall recruit likely wouldn't start immediately if he came to LSU - he only played 10 games in high school - but is still the kind of elite talent the Tigers need on defense.
Solomon Thomas
Thomas is another five-star recruit and has been committed to Florida State for nearly a year, but LSU and Florida have been working toward flipping his pledge.
The No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 24 overall recruit visited Baton Rouge for LSU's matchup against Vanderbilt. The Tigers could also use another offensive lineman in their class after four-star interior offensive lineman Devin Harper flipped his commitment from LSU to Ole Miss in November.
LSU holds commitments from four-star offensive tackle Carius Curne, four-star interior offensive lineman Tyler Miller and three-star offensive tackle Brett Bordelon.
Derek Meadows
Meadows is LSU's top committed wide receiver and the No. 17 wideout in the nation. But On3 Sports predicted on Monday that he'll flip his pledge to Alabama, while Michigan has reportedly been trying to change his commitment as well.
Even with Kyren Lacy departing, wide receiver isn't a major position of need for LSU moving forward. But wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton has a history of landing highly-touted wideouts, and Meadows would certainly fit that description if he decided to stick with the Tigers.
Mike Tyler
Tyler has been committed to the LSU since August but that could change by Wednesday for the three-star tight end.
On3 Sports and 247Sports predict that Tyler will flip his commitment from LSU to South Carolina. Tyler, the No. 28 tight end in the nation, attends the Hammond School which is a 14 minute drive from South Carolina's campus.
Tyler isn't LSU's lone tight end pledge, however. The Tigers also have a commitment from four-star prospect John David LaFleur.

LSU is officially the bargaining chip for recruits to get the bag. BR is a great place to end up, develop, and play. Commit and wait for the other schools to come. Two things are in play 1) get the player on your roster 2) keep the player out of BR. There is double value in flipping an LSU recruit. If we don’t change our strategy it will cost us double to keep the recruits we want and other schools will throw the bag at the ones they want. The portal is our way out of this mess.
