The teasing rubato , the throaty Dolce tone of the melody line, the delicate affretando of the arpeggio accompaniment so well balanced is only the work of a master craftsman. "Legendary" stills falls short of the tribute due to this master.
My Dad played his records all time along with Segovia, Williams and Bream, but Mario was always my favourite. He has such beautiful expression (apart from the intonation issues). He is why I play

La guitarra del profe Mejor no lo pudiste expresar. El arte y todo el mundo vive un periodo de crisis, y crisis también con su identidad y su "utilidad" hacia quien va dirigido. Confío en que se retome el buen cauce de éste, puesto qje ahora tenemos a los mejores guitarristas que pueden salir hasta por debajo de las piedras, pero gente como Parodi, Yepes o Bream, elevan el instrumento a su máxima expresión y consiguen cosas sublimes, conmovernos de una forma única. Para muestra esta gran pieza, que nunca creí posible en guitarra.
Coincido. Con lo q acaban de expresar La música, el arte en general es respuesta de lo q se vive. Pero en todo el movimiento artístico de los últimos 30/40 años ha generado modas o estructuras artísticas q “ mandaban desde los sectores q las imponían”. Es claro q el avance de la música “armónica “ es poco amiga del oído humano y con esto se ha perdido las interpretaciones de la época romántica, barroca etc. Algunos le dicen “ evolución”. No lo creo. Simple moda. De todas formas es bueno q la evolución de la tecnología nos permita recuperar piezas antológicas cómo está de Parodi, q para muchos, ni siquiera lo hubiesen tenido en cuenta. Gracias. 👏👏👏👏
I have the two Parodi LP's......I still love them and what a great player and arranger he was. We became so Segovia orientated, and for a good reason, but, we could not at times see the brilliance of others because of this ..Mario in particular. His daughter Silvia is a player. But to lose him so young is very sad.

I have always admired John Williams as the most expressive Classical guitar player post Segovia, but my father disagreed, citing Julian Bream and Paco de Lucia ahead of John, of course there is Paco de Pena, Manitas de Plata, when drifting to the Flamenco side, and where I started, with Mario Parodi, who for me encapsulates the expression of Nylon Strings.
I found on from free scores, not the Same though. Check guitar school iceland (Google it) they have a lot of classical and flamenco sheet music, all free. It's my resource for all my pieces.
I'm sure Brendan Acker can do this better than me...but this arrangement makes use of extensive masking. Notes you imagine are simply not played. Parodied was also taught. But by pianists with no interest in what was expected of a guitarist. Hence he also composed like a pianist. The softer tone is because he played without nails. If the full LP is available please upload it for us all.
Because he is self taught, no one told him this piece is impossible to play on guitar..
