    Great to see this video of Bonchurch where i was born! Lovely to see the house on the corner of Shore Road/village road where i lived from 1953 - 1972! Bonchurch church has fond memories for us where we were married and it is also the resting place of my parents. Both my father and grandmother were churchwardens at St Boniface for many years. We shall enjoy this same walk many times when we visit Bonchurch in July for the open gardens event. Thank you again for this video - it has brought back such wonderful memories for us.

    Bonchurch was one of my favourite places to visit when I lived in Ventnor. Very beautiful. There used to be a very good restaurant outside one of the big houses on the seafront. Mainly fish. Lovely video. Thank you.👏👏👏

    Have the council considered a ferry service from Ventnor to other parts of the island? It would make for a fun alternative and additional access point in and out of Ventnor.

    Oh this is lovely. Thank you . I use to live down at monks bay. One of those houses (breakwaters ) on the right as you walked past the sea wall ... The house next door is still occupied by the same family From when i lived there in the 70s . So many memories flooding back as i now live in Cornwall. Im now subscribed. How long have you been going down there? I remember the cafe on the corner and a cafe opposite the pond as well as 2 shops.

    I was a chorister at St Boniface in the early 50s. The poet Swinburne is buried there.

    Yes adverts...went to Bonchurch about , my goodness 50 years ago...but i remember a sandy beach, and the potters on the beach but but not much else , ohh apart from having 🍓 strawberrys and cream so there must have been a cafe..

      Yes definitely a little cafe on the right as you come down from Shore Road run by Jack and Sheila Potter! Always remember the buckets and spades and fishing nets being on the forecourt! Also vaguely remember tea gardens further along so maybe cream teas served there!

    Bonchurch really is a bit of a hidden gem. So beautiful and peaceful. Do pay a visit to the Bonchurch Inn one evening and treat yourself to the Life Changing Lasagne. You can thank me later!! As for the adverts, I have a YT Premium account, so don't have any adverts ruining my enjoyment. Otherwise, you're doing a fine job and continue to provide my IoW "fix" until we visit again in August.

    Great to see an area outside your usual patch. Bonchurch pond is so peaceful. I particularly enjoyed hearing the sound of your footsteps on the stones against the noise of the sea. Ads on YT can be intrusive but it’s a small ‘price’ to pay for good, free content. I skip them when I can and gather that it still counts towards your revenue. I love your minimal effort videos and your gentle commentary.

    Hi Steve, I’ve subscribed as I love Bonchurch and was so happy to come on your walks with you. Do you know Compton Undermount? You walked past the entrance on your right hand after the pond. My grandparents used to live there. It’s a huge old grand building that was converted into flats and my Nan and grandad had the flat next to the huge conservatory. I don’t know if you know that you have to walk through a creepy tunnel encrusted with animal skulls and suchlike. We were kids in the late sixties, early seventies and spent a huge amount of yearly holidays here and around Ventnor. Obviously it’s private but if you can go and take a look at the tunnel. There is also a bench placed in memory of my nans brother in law Joe Daysh. (Uncle Joe) he was a road sweeper and kept everywhere spotless! I can’t remember the inscription it went something like I swept this way time and time again. I’d love if you could see it. It’s definitely in Bonchurch on a corner I think. I’m bringing my 85 year old mum back in September. We are going to revive some memories! Thank you so much for your wonderful videos, Sue x

    I'm now paying £13.00 a month for an adfree utube .
    I had one months free trial , at the end of last year and it was wonderful .
    After a few weeks of those wretched adverts again , I'd had enough and chose to pay the monthly adfree subscription.
    As long as Utube doesn't increase the fee , it's money well spent .😊

      I was just about to suggest Steve visits The Bonchurch Inn.......and tries your superb Life Changing Lasagne!!! In fact, I'll do that right now in case he doesn't see a reply to a reply! Oh, and I'll be booking our family in for a couple of meals when we're over in August. I do hope the road closures are impacting your footfall too much.

    Thank you for a video of my favourite part of the island. 22:43 - The downland you can see from here is Ventnor Down (with Bonchurch Down to the right out of sight). It becomes Luccombe down as you head North East beyond the piece of land you can see here. I love Bonchurch and could certainly see myself living in this area one day. The adverts mean your channel is going from strength to strength - don't worry about it. I know how to skip them 🙂

    Sorry that I cannot help about the adverts. I used to use Ad Block, and then Google decided to ban it, so I subscribe to Premium, which at least means you get a cut of what I pay to avoid those ads. As to your technique is fine, except there are occasions when the light or focus means the digital quality is low, so the foliage becomes a bit of a blur. But in good light and not too stretched by zooming, and the quality is good.

    • @Cornishvandweller
      @Cornishvandweller  3 месяца назад

    Far be it for me to tell people how to film as i don't do it....there are a lot of single people doing this, i follow sean james cameron a welshman whose moved back to his native Wales and sherpa the husky and his owner Jamie, they lived in a van, then a mobile home, now he has bought a house, it might give you ideas..Do you use a go pro, it looks as though you film with two hands..it might be nice to see you talk to the camera occasionally in your car, you might not want to do that..
