Despite the one fall and one step-out in the beginning, the rest of the program was liquid diamond --- so regal, elegant, sophisticated, and magical. Sasha Cohen --- one of the very best in skating history.
Thank you! So glad you liked it. If she handled her long programs, IMO, she would have been undefeated for two years straight. The thing is IF is the middle word in life.........💔
An absolute legend! The fact that she opened with two errors, yet was able to fight through the rest of the program with such precision, passion and musicality...Amazing athlete and unique artist! Her spiral sequences are iconic.
Не вижу ,,вау,,Просто раньше было мало фигуристок одиночниц.Вышла поездила по кругу, и всё талант.. Сейчас .да таланты..которые пашут и борются с конкурентами..
Thank you for the upload! Mistakes or not, Sasha was truly one of the greatest artists of our time. In the world of figure skating, no one since has even come close.
You are so welcome and thank you for commenting. Please share everywhere. The fidelity of this recording is outstanding. It's from The Olympic Channel, where they replayed the Long Programs of all the Oly. skaters from 2002 up. My original NBC recording does not compare to this. ❤
I come back from time to time to watch this program.... To see the beauty and the fight. Just because a skater doesn't have consistency, doesn't mean they don't fight for it. She did this program justice and then some. ❤ ....and yes I know she flutzed a lot, and usually this would bother me, but this was in 2006 when it wasn't called and this scoring system was still fairly new. Those things aside, she was a gift to skating ❤
She flutzed her Lutz... a lot of skaters did back in the early 2000's, they would switch over to inside edge at the last second of the entry. Even Michelle Kwan did a little some times.
I had actually forgotten just how good the second half of that program was. And oh my - every position she hits is gorgeous. I know this video is 3 years old but I've only just come across this in such high res. THANK you for uploading this.
You are very welcome! Yes, I recorded the original in '06 when this took place, and it looked O.K. THEN a few years ago, they rebroadcasted it in glorious 1080P HD! I couldn't believe how good this looked either. That means originally NBC had something glitchy going on. This was my favorite performance of all time. NOW I can't look away from Isabeau Levito! I'll take art over bomb-shell jumps, any day! Thank you for posting! ❤
Beautiful program and still a wonderful performance despite the mistakes. I think Sasha's main issue are her nerves. She lets them get the better of her. She still won the silver with those mistakes. Imagine if she only made mistake on the lutz or just the flip. She's still the best overall in the program components. Nobody can touch her on that category. Her skating skills are far better than anyone else. Too bad she couldn't hang on to those jumps.
I know! You really can see it in her eyes in the beginning. In her SP she looked confident and ready to rock. Check out this HOUR-LONG interview with her, post-retirement. I always said she was wise WAY beyond her years. 🖤 ruclips.net/video/7erCuhoNLRk/видео.html
I wonder if Sasha knew how beautiful, elegant, graceful she was despite the flaws -and if s knew how much we loved her artistry and watching her skate.
The thumbnail is devastating, she looked so tired and defeated at the beginning before she even started, but boy did she ever fight for it after the early mistakes. I remember reading that she aggravated an injury in practice between the SP and LP, such bad timing.
I don't even remember who got Gold, but I remember Sasha's grit and tenacity in her performance. The fact that people here are still talking about her says thats a bigger victory.

arakava never had this level of artistry. if sasha didnt fall on the two jumps she would have been the champion. i still prefer this program over arakawas because its just so breathtaking even with the two mistakes
I know, and thank you! She would have been unbeaten over the whole G.P. circuit for two years if she only handled her Freeskates. But "if" is the middle word in life." 😟I met her for a few seconds at a skate clinic.
@@Davethreshold I dont think arakawas win was unfair i just think Sasha's performance was the one that was memorable and that stood out. Sasha is very special and unique. you wont see skaters like that anymore
Shizuka Arakawa does have plenty of good traits though, the quality of her jumps were better- great flow in and out, her edge quality/overall skating skills too. Artistry is also quite subjective. Figure skating is an art and sport. Ifs are hard to take as anything but a wish. If Sasha didn’t mess up- Arakawa would have done her triple triple combos and would still have a pretty good chance at winning. She was kind of like the in between of Sasha and Irina. Tho I do believe Sasha Cohen is special and has the best spirals pretty much bar none. Her turnout for the spins was also especially good. And tbh… Shizuka was an underdog at the time even domestically. Everyone was talking about Mao Asada who was a junior at the time and one who was very much capable of taking the 2006 Olympics in a landslide if she was a few months older. She was never lucky with the Olympics and never did end up winning gold. That was an even bigger if.
She's a beautiful skater but I think nerves got to her in the end. Falling with her jumps pretty much ended things for her. Still very talented skater with some good technique! Her music was beautiful!! She is always the professional!!@😊❤💥
It is from Romeo And Juliet. It is a remake and I know it is edited from certain parts of the original track. I wish I could help more! Thank you for stopping by. If you look on my page here, you'll see her skate at the age of NINE!

Couldn’t agree more. She was ballet on ice, despite the small flaws. Gorgeous.

Fantastic video quality
@@paololucasvianini6434 Thank you. I missed your comment.
Her flip is closer to having and outside edge than her lutz. She has a total flutz but her flip is almost on the outside edge for a moment.
She is the complete package. I still love to watch her skate.
That spiral, though……the best ever. No one has ever come close to Sasha!
I know! I loved Michelle's also. I WISH the ISU would put more weight on it, and make it more points for a 5-second minimum!
I come back from time to time to watch this program....

The commentator said it perfectly. Everyone else skates to Romeo and Juliet, she IS Juliet
Thank you. If she could have handled her Free Skates, she would have been undefeated for two years. But, "If" is the middle word in Life.💔
Sasha is always one with the music. 💖

Sasha Cohen's biggest weakness is having a successful LP yet she demonstrates pure elegance when she skates

Thank you for your input. Shizuka Arakawa won the Gold.❤
She’s my favorite figure skater. The way she continued is so memorable. After all the years I still come back to it!
Please what is the other music that is not Nino Rita’s one..??
