Thanks for the tutorial and presentation. What would be the approximate transonic Mach range that would potentially create errors in vspaero? The general transonic range varies across different sources and literature

    Great basic tutorial!!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for amazing tutorial!
For CFD analysis, should I use VSPAero, or export the geometry to use it with Pointwise&Fluent?
Can VSPAero respresent the volume mesh in a fluid flow, or do you recommend only surface meshing the aircraft and extruding the surface mesh using Pointwise etc?
Btw where is the google link to ask the questions?
    Thanks in advance!

Google Group is here groups.google.com/g/OpenVSP .
VSPAERO does not need a volume grid to perform its analysis -- that is one significant advantage of potential flow methods.
You should use Pointwise & Fluent if your problem needs it -- nonlinear transonic aerodynamics, separated flow (stall), etc. However, VSPAERO will do a surprisingly good job for a lot of problems -- including most normal flight of most aircraft.

Good Tutorial.. How to simulate ground effect using vspaero..?

    • @openvspvideos5394

On the advanced tab, turn on 'Ground Effect Dist' and then set the number to the height above the ground.

@@openvspvideos5394 Thank you very much for your reply.... Did VSPaero uses emprical method to compute ground effect or solving potential flow using mirror image method??

Hello, we had a small glitch,
We are getting L/D ratio above 200 in VSP aero analysis 3D panel method
    Why is that?

The Google Group is a great place to ask questions like this. I would need to double check, but I do not think the Panel method includes any viscous drag -- so with low to zero drag at nearly zero lift, the L/D will blow up.

Would you pls make a comparison of 3 major aspects for nasa openvsp v. darcorp surfaces
    Advanced Aircraft Analysis?

I am not familiar enough with DarCorp's tool to make a comparison.

Can this software calculate the force on each part of the aircraft?

It does calculate the aerodynamic force on the aircraft. Some of the loads are broken out per-component, but it may or may not be to the level of detail you need.
