I love the fact that you moved over to "just" fusion vids, fine way to carve a niche and your stuff has always been great, thanks for all your work lad.
I swear to god, something so simple has taken me 20 minutes to figure out. I may be four years into DR, but still learning new things. Thanks for this, subbed.
Casey, because you share so many great hints, here's another merge node problem. I was trying to add in some stuff to black background. Well, the merge I was using was linked to the background through the foreground on the first merge, and nothing shows up. Odd case, as one would normally have something in behind, but I got stuck on another tutorial by another youtuber with just that. Your video did give me insight though and through trial and error, figured it out. I definitely need to save up my beans to do your fusion zero to hero course!
Casey you are a shagger, driving myself mad with this for an hour and a half! Dont know how I've accidently never encountered this til now but thank you!
Like most everyone else who commented, the FG/BG Issue got me too, after asking around in the forums someone suggested control+t lol. As for changing a matte size/ como size, Yes, please do a tutorial for it. I recently purchased both compositing tutorials, getting ready to jump In 💯‼️ Thanks for all the Awesome Tutorials!!!
That is perfect!!! I have been struggling exactly with this!!! And I had no idea what the problem was. I just kept messing with it till I got it right, not even knowing how I did it haha. Thanks Casey gotta love all these guys that are making it infinitely easier to learn this program!!!
yes i would love to know more about the comp size,,, that is how i got to this video i was looking for something about that i am having that problom right now although i been watching a lot of your videos already... i been leaning a lot from them Thanks a bunch...
Hello bro. You really helped me out in this software. Thank you first. Second, i looked over all vids in youtube about slow-motion including yours 10mnths ago. All were talking about slowing down the whole video. My question is if i want to fast travel to a certain part of the video that would be slowed for like 2 seconds then goes back to normal speed or fast to another point where i want it to slow down again. When i cut the part i want to slow its kinda gets messy where the fast part goes by the point i want to slow and so on so i got lost please 2 minute video of teaching how to do it would be great brother. Much love and hope u got my point. Fan from SAUDI ARABIA. Keep up the great work !
Hi Casey, Thanks for this important “Nodes for Nerds” video! 😊 I am following your step-by-step directions - and of course they work. However, can you do a video incorporating these steps when Delta Keyer is used instead of text. I am trying to figure out where in the flow the Delta Keyer should be inserted. Thanks, Rowby.
What I am struggle to search for, and find an easy solution to, is to stop Fusion from adjusting the frame resolution according to the background media. If I work on a 16:9 timeline, and pull in (drag and drop from folder into Resolve Fusion Page) a square image, and make that square image, via a merge node, the background, Fusion now makes my frame resolution square. I don't want it square, I just want the element in the background. Other than going out of fusion, manually adjusting the resolution ration for that image, and then pulling it back into Fusion (which also means if I want to use that same element on a different resolution timeline ratio, I'll have to custom that image again.) I am sure there is a work around for this within Fusion
Hey, this Video was really helpful for me. But I still have one big problem: I created a rectangle node and merched it with a background node to a merge to 2 other merges where again different rectangles are. My problem is that if I try to change the color of the rectangle (background) it doesn't change in the actual video, just in the preview and it's always white. What can I do to fix that?
Hey Casey! Great work, your chanel! But now for something completely different I found no answer for anywhere on the www: I've recorded a classic concert with only one camera (and a reliable audio seperatly). I synced both by eyeballing and duplicated the video layer to zoom on different groups of instruments here and there. How can I make sure that those zoom clips are not out of sync if I accidentally pushed them around, or else, how can I repair it? Is there any shortcut to re-locate all clips to their original place? I know that I should have locked them in the first place, but failed to do so. And since it was a church with big reverb and the camera was far in the back, syncing cam audio to mic audio is impossible. Thanks for your advice!
Haha - yes, too often. It takes a while to internalize the color code. And how should fusion know what the user intends to do. The default is the BG, then the FG. More often it’s the type of nodes that’s aren’t compatible, missing e.g., a render node. At least one can’t connect the output with a merge. But can be frustrating, since there is no error message.
Some of my videos are long and when working on one section I lose track of where the playhead is located. Is there a way to snap the playhead into my currently open field of view in the edit page?
Thanks for these videos! Always learning something new every time you post! :) I've been trying to make a Macro to speed up my editing as I reference an image and then have part of it pop up to draw attention to it, I've made it as a template in fusion which works fine but when I try to make it into a Macro to be able to quickly click and drag it from the effects on the edit page but it just comes up blank. . . Would this be something to do with the resolutions? Tried increasing the size of the image to 50x and it doesn't even show on the screen.
I'm sure this gotcha has been getting me for weeks and I just had no idea such a problem could exist. When you don't know what you're doing, the solution could be literally anything. I am very grateful. Always connect background first. 3:35 So elegant. Must make this a habit
HEY CASEY I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH VIDEO FPS I WORK ON 60 FPS FRAME AND I ADDED 30 OR 25 FPS OVERLAYS HOW CAN I CONVERT THAT IT GOES FAST ALL TIME AND CHANGED WHEN I RENDERED
Can You help me? When I try to add a glow effect on just before media out I have a black background but the effect is neat and I want to keep it :( please help!! Thanks for tutorial! Regards !
How about the stupid davinci glitch that makes media "turn offline" on the main timeline, but is there when you go back into fusion. That one is my favorite. You have a glitch fix for that sucker?
I’ve been using merge node to colorize old footage by colorizing with AI low resolution media then merge the high resolution an use the low resolution to give the color now I understand why sometimes resolution was inverted and all mess up 😆😆😆
This wasn't covered in your video but it feels like it would have been right at home here. I'm not understanding why merged nodes can't be transformed together. What I'm trying to do is create one of those fancy animated text things that has the lettering, and maybe like a bar the letters appear to emerge from, and like a background that collapses once everything is done. Currently I have the text and background nodes merged and a rectangle node feeding into the input of the background node. But everything is in the middle of the video. In Clipchamp (don't judge me), animated text elements can be positioned conveniently by configuring the element in the properties panel. Picking the location results in the whole affair going to that spot. But in fusion, I have to translate every constituent element individually, activating each node in the Nodes panel one at a time. Am I missing something or is this just the nature of DaVinci?
Unfortunately, if I have 3-4 merge nodes in a row, it doesn't work. But I also don't understand how the developers can make something so essential so fiddly.
still didnt fix my issue!! im trying to add fire over my video but the fire is not showing up in fusion!!! it shows up perfectly in the edit page but not in fusion where i need it to be!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!! im about to throw this computer out the f*****g window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the most important lecture that all the beginners must watch. Merge node confused me for 2 days! Dang it!
Thanks for explaining this. Yes, I think a video about how to handle mismatched resolutions in foreground and background images would be very helpful.
THANK. YOU. Coming from After Effects and this is starting to make sense but still bonkers to wrap my head around it all.
i really don't know how to thank you bro. you always solve my biggest problems i am absolutely proud of you.
Thank you so much. I was stuck with it, for quite sometime now,
always the clearest and simplest, arrives just when I need it ;)

Shagger!! In the UK, that means something you wouldn't like to call someone 😂😂
Quick, easy and very well explained ! Thanks for this again Casey ! ❤

Love your videos bro. Ive been binge watching your Fusion stuff, super helpful for a noob! :)
All I can say is without your videos Fusion and I would have parted company ages ago, many many thanks.
Thanks! You got this!

Casey, your thumbnails are simply the best. You need to post a BTS to share your process. 😂
1:48 to 1:55 is the exact same thing LOL WHAT AM I MISSING!!!! Fusion is the bane of my existence
I was going crazy with this, THANK YOU!!!
I JUST FIXED A PROBLEM I HAD BY ACCIDENT WHILE WATCHING YOUR VIDEO
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I can't believe I never thought to just mouse over the node inputs to see what they were lmao. Thank you so much for this video!

Oh my god this has gotten me so many times. Thank you
Tutorial on dealing with mismatched resolutions/aspect ratios would be awesome - thanks
thank you so much. You saved my time, energy and saved me from smashing my keyboard
Another save by Casey.........you are awesome dude. Whenever you need a kidney or something call out, I owe you......

Delta keyer most of the time should be right after the orignal green screen footage then the result can be merged over whatever BG you want.
Great tips for fusion starter........ BRAVO
Excellent tip!! That took me a while to learn this!!
thanks that saved me, tried to put 2 things on 1 merge but that setup worked
Thanks sir it's the best video sir your excellent the information is really easy to uderstand thanks again sir
Thank you. That drove me crazy!
Thank you so much for the clarification!
thank you so much you saved my time

This was very helpful. Didn't directly instruct me or provide solution but, helped me diagnose what I did wrong. Here's hoping it renders 🤞🤌
thank you so much sir
Yes! That is correct.
Alt-T that’s great to know!
Do you think they’ll ever add a button in the inspector to swap the inputs?
Please make a tutorial about light wrap in fusion...
I can't find cool tutor about it..
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO SO SO INFINITELY MUCH
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU

Hi. In my Davinci, (Fision) "merge" doesn't combine two scene. But separately they are works. HELP ME PLEASE, what do i need to do?
Hey thanks man!
this fixed my issues lol ty

I can't even pick media to put into the nodes I'm trying to do a over lay with a cropped video the nodes won't select the proper video files.

I spend a whole night searching how to put a clip in between fore ground and backrgound none done it. this thing sucks
tysm

When i click fusion it closes immediately 😢

Just put a transform after the merge and you can move everything before it.
What I don't get is why the hell are those input and output icons so freaking small it's ridiculous
Really! Just make them 50% bigger even and it would be a huge improvement. Even better, customizable sizes.
imagine being colorblind
this is why i use after effects.
I actually dumb Davinci Resolve because of this mistake but I'm slowly coming back...
Unfortunately, if I have 3-4 merge nodes in a row, it doesn't work. But I also don't understand how the developers can make something so essential so fiddly.

I am colour blind and the colours look very similar to me. I have to double check all the time.
You can also click the merge and hit ctrl + t, which will switch inputs between FG/BG. I never pay attention to the color anyways lol
The remaining 2/3rds of my hair was just saved from getting ripped out. The other third...its sacrifice was not in vain.

Amazing - you saved my day!!
