Hello sir, I caught your shorts when looking up movie turtle suits because I really want to 3D print one and then make some molds but im struggling on what material to cast with. I've used urethane rubber and foam rubber in the past but they are very hard to paint properly. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind disclosing what material you cast with? And what paints you use? Im also curious how you were able to make the mouth move? Sorry to bombard you with questions but im so excited to get started on this project and your work has gotten me even more excited! Any and all help is appreciated.
Hello! Loved you robocop videos! Sadly I did not make the suit. I just do minor alterations to my suit, I bought it from The Cave: Creature Workshop they are based in Columbia. I believe it is made out of latex with padded foam sewn on the inside. Another turtle suit maker you could ask help from is Propshop Garage they do excellent work as well.
I have a few questions in regards to your turtle mask. First, did you glue your new colored parts on or are they interchangeable? How is the visibility and breathability from the inside? Third, I saw in one of your other videos the mouth open and moving, did you cut it open and how did you make it move? I am looking to order a couple suits in about a month and your videos are very helpful. Thank you!
Colored parts are not glue onto the mask, I like them interchangeable. Visibility is a bit tough as your looking through slits under the colored part. You kind of get used to it after a few wears, and know what to look out for. It a bit weird to explain but after some experience you master your field of vision by moving your head a lot. Also I trimmed head/neck hole. Its pretty tight at first with the padded neck and mask. Cutting the neck hole a bit wider allows you to move your head and see better. Mouth is already cut by them. I take out the bottom row of teeth. I personally think both rows of teeth crowds the mouth and makes the mask look a bit goofy. It also helps with breathing but I wear a black balaclava covering my mouth so people can see my skin when the mouth opens. Making the mouth move - there is padding for the head so my jaw naturally rest on the mask’s chin. Just a bit over acting on my part for the mouth makes the mouth move. Suit will take maybe half a month to a month longer than they say. I order in July last year they said it would be in by early October but it got in 1st or 2nd week in November. It was packed pretty well and is padded very well on the inside of the suit.
Your input has been very helpful! I have 2 suits supposed to be arriving in about 3 weeks. Are these masks something you’d be willing to make for a fee or does each head vary, affecting the ability to do that?
@@younggunztv3365 I’ve done them for a fee for my local tmnt group. I’ve made a template for both of The Cave mask version. The smiley mask and mean mask. The smile mask is a bit smaller in shape but not too but to upset the costs so they’re priced the same.
Great video, currently making some improvements to my Cave suit. It looks like you have repainted the mask - just wondering what paints you would recommend?
Hi, where can I find the file to print the various shapes of bandanas that I can cut out later? And what do you use as the material to make the base of the bandana? A thousand thanks
