    I tinted my windshield 35%. In my opinion if you're concerned about night time visibility, 50% should be as low as you go.
    Night time visibility is really impacted with 35%. More specifically, looking far into the distance is no longer viewable, everything appears darker than what it is. Up close everything is alright.
    Also note this, if your head lights struggle with performance I wouldn't go any lower than 50% because even with better head lights, visibility won't get better.
    Hope this made sense. 35% is doable. 50% you'll be comfortable.

    Here in IL for trucks we can have whatever we want on our rear windows. I went 15% all around ( makes the rears about 5% looking in but still fine visabilty looking out) with high quality ceramic 15% on the fronts (llumar ctx) didn't look dark enough. 50% windshield put it right on the sweet spot for front window visabilty. Use high quality ceramic 50% on your 50% and it looks when driving like nothing is there, yet you get a mild bump of darkness looking in AND all the benefits of having your biggest piece of glass tinted (UV, glare, heat reduction, interior protection etc) 15% all around with the windshield 50% is perfect combo if your using good quaulty tint. Doesn't look gheto 5% tint which will get you pulled over in many states, but adds the perfect amount of privacy and more importantly night time drivability

Other than that. It's not ever that noticeable. You would have to know what a 50% windshield looks like. I would not go any darker as its a immediate ticket around here as it gives it away immediately. Thinking about putting 50% on top of my 15 in front just to get it right around 10 vlt. On my front windows. Wish I went 5% (legal in IL on trucks) on all rear windows for more light protection for my family. Another layer of 15 or just do 5% over again. Honestly 70% is a waste if you weren't just getting it for actual benefits of tint besides privacy. 50% is a pretty good compromise. Wish a company would provide a 40-45%. 35 on windshield is too dark at night, but 50 during the day you can barely notice it unless the rest of your vehicle has medium level tint. I did 15% ceramic ctx llumar all around, 50% on windshield and it's the perfect compromise of privacy and visabilty without being in constant alert. 50% windshield with high quality tint virtually zero loss of visabilty looking out but you get a slight dark increase to your cabin and other windows.

I did 50% on the windshield and 35% on the sides and rear and honestly wish I went darker like the 25% or 30%. I had Lumar Pinnacle 40% ceramic on my last car and this 35% looks lighter which is weird. Oh well....lesson learned, not all film is comparable by %.

      Yea I had 20% llumar atc (basic dyed tint) it looks darker than their ctx ceramic at the same level. The benefits of ceramic is worth the extra money. Going to get my Tacoma 15% ceramic all around with 50% windshield! Without the windshield tint, 15% looks like 30% and with it actually makes it looks darker. I didn't want 5% because it's dangerous at night. This combo negates that risk with good viability but during the day, most of the cabin is dark enough so you can eat your boogers without too much risk of folks judging you 😂😂😂😂jkjk

      I agree. I have a model Y and did 3M ceramic IR 25% on the side and I think it looks amazing however I swear it has the same darkness of my precious car tint which was 3M 35% color stable.
      I also agree with it being a slightly more bluish tint. Not visible however when compared to factory tint you can tell the factory tint has a more yellow tone to it.
      Getting 3M ceramic IR on my windshield this week and can’t decide between 50% or 70%. I was going to go for 70% but after your point I may do 50%. No wonder the tint guy told me “15% ceramic IR compares to 20% color stable”. Now I see.

    I just got my windows tinted with Xpel Prime Plus (IR) with 50% windshield, and 20% for all other windows, except moonroof 5%. I'm really happy with how it looks, when I'm outside the car looking at it. Looking from the inside, to the outside, the sides and rear are pretty dark. And driving at night, I'll need to take some time getting use to how it looks out the sides and back. But, the windshield is surprisingly lighter then I would expect during the day As well as at night. It looks like your setup in your video. Though, maybe they goofed and did my front with 70%? I should double check just with the tint place to make sure.
    Also, my 2022 Subaru's WRX GT's windows came partially tinted. Like it's in the glass, from the manufacture. Very faint on the driver and passenger. A tiny bit more for the windows behind it. The Xpel film is now onto of the glass and helps make most of the windows darker. That could be why the windshield looks as light as it is. For that had no tint in the glass from the manufacture. And now supposedly has 50% on it. Looking like how yours is.

    • @_Volt_Ron_
      @_Volt_Ron_ 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@sparrowhawk5673 good question. I'm in the city. I am sometimes in area with no street lighting and is very dark. I was recently in a dark alley, with no lighting. Let me tell you what that was like. With the headlights on, there are no issues with seeing things out the front windshield that is at 55%. I previously said it was 50%. But for Xpel IR it's really 55%. My '22 WRX has LED lighting, and it's very bright and focused. So much more brighter than non LED headlights. My sides and rear windows are at 20%. It's a tad bit darker due to the OEM windows having a very slight dark tint built into the glass for the sides and rear. It's impossible to really safely see things out those windows in this situation. Being able to safely see a pedestrain or animal out those windows is definitely issue. My car has a rear facing camera, with light. Using that, I can see what is behind me when I'm backing up at a slow speed. Another option is I can roll down my driver and passenger windows when I need to see things to the sides.
      So when I'm driving at normal speed in a dark area, I can easily see anything that's walking in my path. If I have to stop, or drive very slowly, then I need to pay extra attention for people/bicycles/dogs that may pass me on my left or right side. So I don't steer/drift into them. I usually roll down the windows for that.
