Sam, I'm Hispanic. Mom's side of the Family is from Mexico. Born and raised on carne asada and I tried you carne asada recipe and it was DELICIOUS! Better than the marinade from the carneceria. Everyone I had over said it was juicy and delicious. Keep up the good work my man.
My grandma grew up in Mexico in the 30s and she also has used soy sauce, whoever getting mad about soy sauce needs to grow up. I also use soy sauce it’s been past down... keep it up Sam !!!
Cooking is about love and trying shit out. Sometimes it is about tradition too. But man the shit people get mad at. I live in Southern California and have had all kinds of street tacos. Everyone has a different method
Mexican here: Those tacos look awesome! Sometimes my family in MTY uses Maggie seasoning, which has soy sauce. My family in Sonora uses salt only. My best friend from Chihuahua, says they only use salt and pepper. My brother-in-law in Tijuana uses orange, orange peels, garlic, and pepper. People in Michoacan use achiote, etc. It's a matter of preference and not traditionalism, which mostly talks about things you know rather than actual tradition. The only thing I have never seen or come across in Mexico is someone using sugar for marinating, but the closest thing is a type of orange that is sourer. The sweetness comes from the crema and the tomatoes in the salsa/pico.
Sugar is not an ingredient used for tacos in México, Sam is doing a good work and although all new ideas are welcome regarding recipes that taco has nothing to do with what we eat in México (not that he claimed so), I do not know if Sam has traveled down here but I can tell one thing for sure, people that comes from abroad to México have a hard time trying to find the "real" mexican food and that is because there is a stupid tendency to present things diluted to tourists in order to make it easier for them to like it, every day I talk to tourists that are on the quest to find and taste the real "comida mexicana" because what they find at the common places for tourist are exactly that, "the food for tourists", to whoever wants to taste a real taco made in México, get to the streets of México.
I have increased my and my family's caloric intake tremendously with your recipes. Additionally I have learned SO much watching your vids. Love the attitude, LOVE the language, love the backyard, love the camera work. Your channel has been one of the highlights of the covid lockdown for me. THANKS!!!
Keep doing what you do Sam. I’ve taken many of your recipes and wowed the crowd. Been cooking since the age of 14-15 and you’ve helped me in so many ways to elevate my game. Keep on making them hit cooking videos my brother. Waiting for my little boy to get a older to so he can do it himself, but he’s only three and loves my cooking.
Just tried this today for my family and everybody LOVED it. I used a flank steak and let it marinate for about 18 hours. The meat came out really tender with a wonderful flavour. Will definitely be putting this into a regular summer time rotation. Thanks for a great recipe.
