First heard this song at about 4 am on a foggy morning on a crackly AM radio about 13 years ago from her set from the Katoomba Folk Festival. Still give me shivers listening to it.

To: rinocerantum. In a nutshell, it would be called a "lap steel." (A more basic version of a "pedal steel.") Probably open-tuned, it is "fretted" using a smooth steel bar. (Much like playing "slide" on any guitar, or other stringed instrument.) Kaki here, is playing it through various "looping," and other effects to get these sounds. I agree, it's kinda' cool. Anyway, that's the super-short version. Hope it helps. :-]

Im only just discovering Kaki's music.. but i know she runs the lapsteel through a Hog Synth pedal and uses a loop pedal as well.. she does it so well!!
