Today I´m focusing on repainting and revamping this old second hand monster high doll and giving her a cool new body
Here is her backstory: You are a lone wanderer in a fantasy world after you just got isekaied into it. You wander through the woods and expect to meet the great, all loving Mother Nature. Instead you are greeted by her devilish sidekick, [jerry insert cool name here].
I draw, work on dolls, figures and other pvc collectibles for hours to repair, customize and transform them into a better version of themselves! It´s an incredible way of expressing your creativity and keep yourself busy. (.❛ ᴗ ❛.)

Hi, it´s Kiat (Like the car brand haha), I´m 69 and welcome to my channel! ٩(◕‿◕)۶ I´m doing something creative pretty much 24/7, be it drawing, painting, decorating, customizing dolls and figures or sculpting my own figures. I just can´t stop woking on something, I´d go insane ｡ﾟ(TヮT)ﾟ｡
The dolls/figures I´m working on are usually second hand / thrift store finds, since I wouldn´t dare working on something brand new (except if it´s straight up ugly since the beginning).
I have been watching anime, reading manga and playing video games since almost 20 years now, so these things are very close to my heart. That´s also where I get my inspiration from!
My tastes in anime/mangas/games are usually pretty obscure stemming from my country being not very intrested in subcultures in general. I had to keep my interests secret up until now, you would get strange stares even if you said you like Disneyland (︶︹︺)
So now I hope I can live out my love for this on here only a little bit!

Edit: I think her name should be more of a title, like 'The Fungal Mistress of the Woods'

Ooh! You‘re totally right! It‘s also one of my favourite paintings and I visit this painting from time to time since it hangs in our museum.

First of all she looks amazing, absolutely love her face you did such a good job! And the sculpting is just *cheffs kiss*. Living your art style and loving your sense of humor. Definitely subscribing.
Second here are a couple tips that I share with all doll artists that I find useful and I hope you can too.
- a mix of coffee grounds, the tea from tea bags and a glue that dries matte makes some amazing looking dirt. You can even add in sand and tiny rocks or a bit of clay kitty litter if you want.
- You can crumble up dish sponge really small and add glue and paint and it makes great looking moss.
- When printing something with washes dry brushing afterwards helps bring some of the 3D detail back out.
- When layering paint to create depth, change the color a bit as well as the value of it, it helps create a much more dynamic color spectrum and tends to make things look more realistic if that makes sense?
-When painting something (especially organic things) if you don’t clean your brush between colors it can help give a much more harmonious color palette.
- When using glitter just mix an obscene amount into a glossy varnish. It will make it so there isn’t any fallout and will help contain the overthrow of our civilization by glitter.
- Next time you are having issues with your pencils not working, try lifting the pigment directly from the watercolor pencils with a wet brush. Since it’s water activated you can still get some really nice gradiation.
- I personally recommend using longer bristled tiny brushes (nail art liners are my favorites) for doing lines in paint (or any other liquid) it lets you get a much smoother line much easier.

I was expecting a kind of "chia pet" doll experiment from this, but this is cool too!
(Does make me wonder if you COULD make a plant-holder/doll sculpt hybrid, though, like some sort of ball-jointed "wooden" puppet-dryad mix. It would probably be more trouble than it's worth, though.)

Seeing the second skull and open battery slot kind of makes me wonder if these dolls could be used to make a robot/cyborg themed character. I think the machine like look of electronic bits would lend itself well to that concept.

I dont know much about doll reconstruction and stuff but I do love art and creativity. I think something you could have done to the hands was maybe add a subtle red dot gradient like the red spots on some mushroom caps. But overall it was entertaining to watch you make this!
I really appreciate that you used a Ghoul's Alive doll ! A lot of those dolls are broken or are missing limbs, so it's great for them to have a second life 🥰🙌 I think it's very fitting choice for this project, as well. Lovely faceup.

When you are showing the doll in the end, can you do couple of shots further away? Only seeing close ups, it’s hard to imagine how the whole thing looks together. 😩

PLEASE, dear Kiat, excuse my awful english, for I am an elder swiss woman, with many problems of health (that's why I'm watching so many videos on RUclips 😇!) - You saved my day, with Your absolutely georgous mushroom- lady! The ONLY reallyreally minimalistic thing I'd have to say: Your sculpting is heavanly, but in Your painting, specially, there where two colors come together, You could do that "over- going" (HELP, I don't know the exact word in english!), for example from white to brown (mushrooms in face + body!), just a very, VERY little bit smoother! I'm so sorry, for I love Your way of speaking, filming, sculpting (oooooh, OMG, ALL those cute, beautiful mushrooms!!!), and Your modifications, and of course Your painting, SO MUCH!! Would a light sanding &/or base coat of mr super clear have helped to make her face easier to paint on?

I loved the concept and the idea behind this! Wich is why I'd suggest you keep a similar theme regarding the music (in this case a bit dark and fairy like). Because it can be a tiny bit off putting when your imagination is at 100 building a whole dark mischievous storyline and then boom happy song. Loevly video !
I actually wanted to do this, but since darker (free) music tends to be really slow, I´m always afraid of people getting bored during longer parts of the vid and clicking off. But I will look for better music in the next video :)

My dreams are actually my main source of inspiration, I dreamed of her one night XD I recommend going to yard sales, flea markets and second hand shops, that´s where I get my dolls from.

I noticed whilst you were doing her face up your pencils look so long and sharp, can I ask please the pencil sharpener you use to achieve these? 😊❤️✌🏻
I have a Dahle 101 pencil sharpener (the green/yellow/orange one). But it‘s 15 years old by now, so I don‘t know if you can still buy one. But any other Dahle pencil sharpener works as well, but I don’t know if they can achieve the same pointy tip. Hope this helps ☺️

With face up you seemed to not care for it- with it being acrylics and all -but I think that the blobby, painterly look really adds to it. Like those illestrastion books used to identify mushroom species. And the pale blue eyes add a beautiful hint of contrast to all of the orangs and browns, making them stand out more. My only critique, WHY NO POINTED EARS?
