That turned out really well. I’ve been binge watching gun painting videos for the last few days, looking for my favorite ideas, and this is my favorite pattern I’ve seen so far.
I'm a professional Cerakoter and thus have never taken the spary can route. I'm also a autobody collision painter and tech. I've had a spray gun in my hands for 32yrs. You can understand why I don't care for Krylon. I will say both mags look very good. The best rattle can job I've seen,and I live on RUclips. As I said they both look great,but I personally like the one without the mesh coat.

Thank you! Sub the darker green with another darker tan, and you've got a cool desert camo I think. If you make some mags you like, you should paint the ar the same way!
I like both of the mags you did quite a bit. Great technique, that would be fun on a motorcycle gas tank or fairing in more urban colors, blues and grays, with a short shot of red in maybe the mesh dots as an accent splash. Thanks for posting!
Right on man! The matte clear coat I put on it definitely helps, so that battleworn look will come on slower. Its also gotta share that 7.62 with its half brother and sister haha
The soap definitely does produce an organic pattern but I'm racking my brain trying to think of something that would offer similar outcome but reusable. Looks great tho
Yeah the organic patterns the soap makes is my favorite part, along with the layering possibilities. I'm going to mess around with playdoh or sillyputty.
Leave the soap on while the paint dries. The soap doesn't affect the paint it's sitting on. If that paint is fresh that soap went on, I wait double time before washing.
Why won’t he show the mag at the end? I know he talked abt the end result after applying the camo paint but I never saw the mags after he washed them 🧐
It's possible it would help, but I haven't had a problem painting a well prepped surface or using a clear coat. I've thought about using a high temperature rated primer though.

@@bollewillem1 Real soldiers paint their guns bubba. There are dozens of videos out of former SF guys showing us how to camo a gun for a mission. It works for hunters also, so they blend in. Go put your high horse out to pasture.

I've been doing the Dawn soap method on my surfboards since the early 90s. So excited to see it on mags

First time I've seen dish soap technic. Use this in painting other things, but completely forgot about it for painting mags
Yeah I saw a quick video of someone using soap to spraypaint a tumbler, and it just clicked to try it on guns n mags haha.

He used it as a blocker, wherever that soap was, the next layer of paint could not touch. So it effectively created a natural looking stencil.

Do you leave the soap on whilst its drying? Does it not affect the paint its sitting on?

Which spray can did you use for the khaki color?
Krylon camouflage khaki.
Wouldn't putting a primer on first be better so the paint sticks better And not flake off later by using a clear top coat
