I was there. Thought these were absolutely amazing. Was a hell of a night. The line up was (i think) a local band, these, white flag, scream. all for about 5 quid. Incredible. We were so impressed with this band a few of us clubbed our spare change (hard times!) to buy an album off them. When scream were on singer took me out by jumping into the crowd and strangled me with the mic lead!
It was a great night. Mottek rocked! Like a well drilled machine. Pure german precision. RIOT is a great record. Loneliness a killer tack. Still sounds great.
@iconicide yes, Mottek is a German word for sledgehammer, though it is originally Polish; with the beginning of industralization many people from Poland came to work in thr Gerrmany coal mines and steel factories, so the word became common here.
I need someone to settle a feud. I read in an interview when I first heard them back in '87, that Mottek is german slang for Hammer. By the way, "Hypnose" is one of my fave albums. "Herz Aus Metall!""

I saw this tour with White Flag and scream at Birmingham Mermaid. had a beer with Mottek after the gig, nice people.
