@@merrymaurader2521 Most people, such as yourself, shouldn't invest in the stock market because they don't have the right temperament. Instead invest in index funds.

I only had $54K in the market when the downturn started, but I had a minor freakout when it went to $37K over a few weeks. But I never sold, kept consistently investing $915 per week and today I have $137K. So thankful for index funds and folks like you for keeping me motivated and informed.
That is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your story! Such a great example of how things can turn out by staying the course, continuing to invest, and holding long-term!
With so many you tubers promoting single stocks I thank you for promoting index funds! You have helped me personally and I know you are helping so many others. Just want to thank you for blessing us with your knowledge!
I remember when the market was crashing you said: “don’t get tricked into thinking, this time is different”, referring to crises/crashes, and you were spot on. I bought as much as I could on the dip with that quote in mind. Thank you for that, wishing you guys continued health and happiness.
I did the same thing you guys did and I'm glad I did. When the market crashed and the pandemic was new I adopted a "I have nothing to lose" strategy. Back then, I was convinced that either the world was going to end or we were going to come out this with a boom. So I kept investing the way I have been doing since 2015 without listening to all those who told me I should stay in the sidelines. It worked out great to say the least AND I'm glad the world didn't end.
Carlos - ditto on the whole world not ending thing! :) AND - that is fantastic that you continued to invest and didn't panic sell because now you get to see the rewards! :)
I did my spring cleaning yesterday and re-listened to your previous episodes. You always provide so much great content that I am either catching something I missed the first time or have a better understanding and appreciation of a topic. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insights.
Happy Easter Christina and Amon! My video watching goes like this...our rich journey ' so we invested 3k in this fund and keep investing 100s each month and here we are today' ...Me ' so I have invested $50 in this fund and keep putting $25 a month and so eventually I can do more and then I will be here in the end'...baby steps...baby steps. But you always keep me motivated!
Hi there Jay! Happy Easter! And about investing $50 and putting in $25 each month - that is FANTASTIC! Just think about when you weren't investing anything! You have taken action by investing and you are being consistent! That is something to be VERY proud of!!! Congratulations!!!
Great content as usually. You two are the reason I started investing and pursing fire during the pandemic. Your commitment to the your family, the people and educating us is unmatched .
Very awesome! On March 15th of 2020, I threw 20k into VTI. The returns on that have been nothing short of phenomenal! Great video guys! Time in the market > Timing the market!
I remember back in March 2020, when stocks were down 37%, the common theme was that the stock market would drop a lot more. I decided I'd drop $10,000 into the market at that time, then continue to DCA afterwards. I'm so glad I did, because that turned out to be the bottom.
I love that you all did an update on this fund you started when the market dropped. Blessings to you for using this as an example for others to be encouraged to start. This channel has certainly helped to motivate me to take action. I have seen my 2020 portfolio grow as well with index funds: started during the drop 2020 with $50 in four Fidelity index funds in 2020 and has grown substantially in 2021.
That is fantastic that your portfolio is growing! So exciting to hear that!!! And super excited to hear that you're feeling motivated and that you took ACTION! :) So many times, it's easy to get excited about something but then not to take action. But, action is required for results!!! CONGRATS!!!
Love the videos. One question though. I looked into these options and I’ve noticed that they don’t have a long track record. How do you personally measure that risk?
Looks like you have retired with a significant portion of your savings in cash. It would be interesting to see your asset allocation (percentages) across all asset classes. Welcome to Portugal!
You two (and the girls) rock! You do such a great job explaining investing in clear and actionable terms. Happy Easter and we're looking forward to checking out Portugal as well.
Thank you so much for sharing! I followed you April Last year and decided to copy your investment strategy in May. It is now up $2,614.75. THANK YOU!! Happy Easter!

Thanks Eleanor! :) But make sure you're not copying our investments - You should always do your research and pick the investments that work best for you! :)
Nice job! Between March and June of 2020, I got into the stock market when others ran away in panic. I invested a fairly modest $12.5K (from an inheritance) into a variety of stocks, many of which were tanking at the time (AMC @ $2.85/share), but I was buying with long term economic recovery in mind. That portfolio is now at $31.5K! Woot!
Another Great Video! Could you please consider making a video about how USA retirement accounts and taxation works when you live in another country? For example, if I contribute to a Roth IRA which will grow tax-free in the USA, would I still owe taxes if I move to Portugal or Spain when I take money out? My wife and I are already 3 years into our FIRE journey and very excited! Thank you for all the great content you create and for teaching us newbies!

Thank you for sharing this... it really inspires me and my husband to learn and do investing to achieve financial freedom. If you guys don't mind me asking, what is the best date of the month to do automatic investment?
I appreciate the information. Do you only invest with Fidelity? Why do you add to your investments monthly? I am only planning to invest $5000 and not add to it monthly. Thank you.

But, we JUST answered it, so you probably haven't seen it yet! :) Also, for those interested in the answer, I've copied and pasted it below! :) - Great question! We don't have a video on it. But, I would suggest you first think about high interest debt you need to pay off and whether you have an adequate emergency fund. Then, begin going through your budget and looking at all of your expenses. Are there areas that you overspend. How much could you save and invest based off of your budget? If you need help in creating a budget, we have a free budget on our website. You can get a copy at ourrichjourney.com!
Congratulations!!!Excellent update!!! Can you share your thoughts on why you chose the different percentages based on the investments for this portfolio?
A and C -Thanks for videos and education. why did you invest in Fidelity in March 2020 - why didn’t you topped up your existing Vanguards index funds ex, VTISX instead ?

If in your retirement years you are still able to re-invest thousands of dollars that you are earning from dividends and other investments in your portfolios then what money do you use for every day living expenses and for doing renovations on your house. Do you sell some of your previous investments? Can you make a video on how to withdraw money for everyday living expenses and how much is your monthly budget. How to balance spending and re-investing from your investment earnings.
You are both phenomenal!!!! Thank you for your openness to share with so many who desire to gain financial literacy. My family and I have learned so much from you both! It's really an exciting journey🤗💕
Do you have a 1 year investment strategy video? Hubby is retiring in 1 year and I need to build my own portfolio with my own money. I'm younger than him and just learning about the market. Love your videos!
Thank you guys. I also started investing in 2020. With less money, but still. Also into index funds with Ally bank, after I did my research on index funds, but I really appreciate this video. I am going to open another account today, with Fidelity and these 3 funds. 😀
Hi Amom and Christina, I hope that you are doing well. I am considering in takings your course but I have a question...your course focus on USA and I live in the Uk. Is there any differences between Vanguard and Fidelity index funds ? Thanks in advance. Edna

Great job! I am joining the journey. Thanks 👍

Broad market ETF investing can't avoid a huge market downturn. How do I plan to minimize potential risks?
