Dear Chris and Steph, I do like these programmes where you put your plans and priorities into focus. I am sure many homesteaders profit from your reasoning. Sincerely, Larry Lewis London, Ontario.
I love this time of the year, it is like a primitive call to 'nest' before winter lol. We were always overwhelmed with to-do lists around the homestead, and I have been embracing minimalism. It is so freeing to get rid of excess, while still prepping. Love seeing what others are doing to get ready for the cold weather, thanks for sharing!
We keep saying that things have to go. But it is so difficult to make those decisions. Everything seems to be useful and needed until we don't have it, and then we say, "Why did we wait so long to do this?" Oh well.
I'm with you. Outdoor chores get ahead of our abilities. When time is getting short I narrow my focus to living, breathing tasks first. Whatever it is the animals need comes before any garden or structures, unless that structure is the house (we are living and breathing too). I hope you have the time to get everything done before the snow arrives.
It feels like this year winter is going to come quickly, so I am skeptical that we will get everything that we would like to get done, but we are still pushing ahead and trying. Now that the garden is done, it feels like a weight has been lifted and more time can be allocated to other things.
We always joke that we work well under pressure, so we just keep adding. We now go into our list each year knowing that we will only achieve around 30% and just have to be happy with that, but then when we get more than that done, we are ecstatic, lol 😆
Well, we are glad that you still enjoyed the video even as a reminder of work to do. It is a crazy time of year, yet it feels good to get stuff achieved. We often find we work well under pressure, and winter is on its way.
Sometimes. Eventually, I would like to do them all each fall, but I never seem to find enough time (hopefully that will change when I save enough to buy clippers rather than using hand shears) right now I focus on any that are going to be butchered, so that we don't get to late and can't remove it ( we send to the butcher in November and January)
Lots of work in your future, lol is yhe no one around whete ypu live yhat you could work for fresh veggies, and some of your fresh meat? Or some kind of bartering?
It's time for the annual Hickory Croft wish list. May all your dreams come true someday.

LOL So much truth in this video on the To Do List!!
It usually becomes a "we wish we had got that done" list 😆
Too late, LOL! Already overwhelmed!😂 we just keep going, with what wind is in our sails!!

I feel for you and comprehend the plan 😁 and every fall we also have a list 🙈
Hopefully you do well on your list this season. Every year we rry to be less ambitious, but it doesn't seem to make a difference
Love this video, reminds me what I need to get done.

Sounds like a plan! 😊
Sounds like a BIG plan, with lots of work!
we will see how well we progress with it though lol
Pretty sure we won't get it all done but its still something to go back to when we plan out our weekends!
I think an 14 by 18 black/silver tarp would clear the weeds, a spot every year.
Wr have a bunch of rubber horse stall mats that we are planning to move onto these weeds and hopefully by 2025, they will be cooked.
Hi , do you fall sheer your lambs that were born spring ?
