- Aivituvin recently sent us their Wooden Tortoise House to review! Of course, I supervised the assembly process and made sure to STOMP every square inch once it was all set up. Our verdict: The Aivituvin Tortoise House is well-made and a great option to consider if you are looking for a spacious wooden enclosure for a small tortoise like me! 🏠🛠🐢

⚖️ The Aivituvin Tortoise House is very similar to my Zoo Med Labs Tortoise House that we posted about last year ( • Outdoor Tortoise House... ): Both are solid wood enclosures with open and enclosed areas, and the two are almost identical in size. The Aivituvin Wooden Tortoise House comes with more features, while the Zoo Med Labs Tortoise House is slightly more flexible for rearranging the space.
⚙️ The additional features of the Aivituvin Wooden Tortoise House are:
〰️ Viewing windows on two sides
〰️ An easy-clean sturdy plastic base (no waterproofing required!)
〰️ Struts that can prop the lids open
〰️ Lamp stand that can be installed on one side to hang a UV or heat light (we did not install this since we are using the Tortoise House outdoors)
〰️ Pre-painted wood (in gray)
〰️ Denser wire mesh over the open area
⚙️ The Zoo Med Labs Tortoise House doesn't have the features above, but the center panel and one end panel are not screwed in and can be slotted in or out at any time. This makes the Zoo Med Labs Tortoise House a bit more flexible if you would rather not have the center panel or if you want to combine two Tortoise Houses.
🌟 To sum up, you really can't go wrong with either Tortoise House!

How did this house hold up outside a year later?thinking about buying one
Shello! It's still holding up pretty well. But we should note that we only use this enclosure outdoors in the warmer months on non-rainy days, so 4-5 months of use every year. Some of the paint has started chipping/peeling, but overall it's still in good shape!

I have a 3 year old red foot tortoise. Would this house be big enough for now?
Shello! We're not super familiar with redfoots, but we believe they are a bit bigger than Russian tortoise like me. This tortoise house is a good size for a tortoise with a shell length around half a foot. Of course, more space is always better, too!
Will it be good for a herman tortoise
It should work great for a Hermann's tortoise! From what we have heard, Hermann's tortoises are very similar to Russian tortoises when it comes to taking care of them. Hope this helps!
