- In this video I make an outdoor enclosure for my hermanns tortoises so that I can separate them from my growing Sulcata Tortoise since she is getting much bigger than them.
🔴If you make an outdoor enclosure like this and your tortoise is still small make sure to put a screen on it so predators don’t get to them!!🔴

Hi bro, I just got one little tortoise in my house last evening around 9:45 pm, was even afraid but have manage to crab it. How do I feed it
What type of tortoise? If you don’t know, I would try and search it up, my Russian tortoises main diet is iceburg lettuce (people don’t recommend it because it’s low nutritional, so I mix it with nutritional things) some Arcadia pressed tortoise hay, from pets mart and occasionally I sprinkle tortoise calcium on it, but this is my tortoises specific diet. first find out if it’s a herbivore or omnivore, a tortoises main diet is high fiber low protein, and no sugary stuff and even if it is a omnivore, I’d just stick to leafy greens for now.(like romaine greens and collard greens) hope this helps ❤.
Good Job..
How do you keep them from digging underneath the enclosure and escaping?
The ground is raised a few inches on the inside, the torts I’ve kept here don’t dig much. It’s been Hermann’s and redfoots both of these species aren’t tunnelers
are those walls dug in? You never have one dig out?
It depends what species you’re planning to keep. Redfoots for example do not dig.
Not next to the fan, won’t that be bothersome to them?
No, they aren’t close enough to be bothered by it and I’ve even noticed most of them want to go sleep near/under it. I think maybe because it’s warmer🤣 if you check out my newer videos on the smaller torts you’ll see I keep them even closer now.
@@ShadowsReptiles My sulcata goes and sleeps nexts to the loud pool pump! In the summer! They're crazy lol. I wonder if their hearing isn't that great but the vibration is soothing?
Nice vid bro♥️
How do you make a basking spot for the sulcatas?
Just have an open space available that gets up to 95° with uvb if indoors or somewhere they can get sunlight to bask naturally. Check out my cheap tortoise set up video for more info.
Nice 👍🏼
What do you have inside the hide? Hay?
Yo shadow your not afraid of if your big tortoise falls in the pool?
Awesome thx this will be helpful
Matts Exotics glad it help 😁😁
How much does it cost ?
I can’t remember but an estimate according to prices today. Maybe $80 total depends a lot on what materials you use and what plants, substrate or anything else. You can make it really cheap or expensive it’s up to you. Sometimes free if you use scraps or other things people throw away. I’ve built a lot of free enclosures out of scrap wood, or extra cynder blocks
Do you keep it outside when it rains or it is extremely cold
no. do not do that.
We are also going to build a tortoise home too
Do you not get raccoons where you need a mesh roof to protect from predators?
Nope I've never had a problem with predators.
Other videos people say to cover up the dirt with bricks. I want to make an outside enclosure for our Herman’s. I’m not sure to do
nice video! hope you cage your pool so they don't accidentally drown
How old is the younger sulcata?
Erica Leslie like 3 years okd
I want one
I am looking to get a baby sulcata roughly (2 inches). Im in Arkansas and i already have a large outdoor enclosure for my sliders and box turtles. If i get a hatchling sulcata, couldni put it outside like this?
Of course you could, but once it grows it’s time to upgrade.
@@lollibaby1122 That original comment was from over years ago. I ended up getting a hatchling shortly after that comment. He actually lives outside in that enclosure most of the year now until it gets cold. Hes big and happy now!
How much is your Sulcata babies? Do you have Russian Tortoise for sale ?
Hey i dont have russians and you can see prices and availability here shadowsreptiles.com
I can’t be the only one waiting for a drowned tortoise video in that pool..
I shared this vid to people
Forest Cat pis off
Salm0n Kitty shut up you Karen why are you commenting on my comment from 10 months ago. If anything you are the boomer for calling me out on it you wet wipe
Man never compact the soil with your feet because you destroy the rooting system . Be sure that you put the hibisqus in full sun so you will get a lot of flowers and also do not forget to put some good soil in there
Ancient Gaming I am putting the hibiscus where it gets lots of sun so it’ll provide some shade for the torts and I’m using the same soil that I put in there already
Do u have any sulcatas u would be interested in donating to a foster home?
Allyson Rendon no I do not sorry
Dang!
Has your tortoise ever fell in your pool?
Too small
This is a perfect sized enclosure.
