A good setup for bank lines is instead of a solid stake use a piece of PVC pipe ( 4-6 ft. long ) with a hole screwed all the way through about 1 1/2 - 2 inches from the top with an eye bolt through it to tie your line to. It's stout enough to hold large catfish or turtles but flimsy enough to not cause to much tension to make the fish to drop the bait. I used the setup when I lived in Mississippi.
