I worked for Organic Valley for 17 years. It is a family farm owned co-op that produces dairy, produce and meat products headquartered in Wisconsin. Every year there is an annual meeting. I was asked to come up with a quilt project the employees and farmers could participate in and launched it at the annual meeting. I had just bought The Farmer’s Wife quilt book. We gathered some fat quarter sample colors as inspiration and let employees and farmer’s wives pick which block they wanted to make. It was assembled and quilted and now hangs in one of the office buildings. One of Organic Valley’s production plants is in McMinnville, OR😀.

Love your Flosstube videos and now your separate Quilty tube videos. I am currently working on Spangled and love it. Like my cross stitch projects I also have numerous quilt projects going. Spangled kind of keeps being pushed aside because of the detail and all the piecing so thank you for your excitement and encouragement to get back working on my Spangled quilt! Thank you for all your videos!

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing with us. I too was so inspired by Carol Saltbox Stitcher's star quilt that I immediately started making my own. It's one of those that is an ongoing project and at least once a week I make a couple of sawtooth stars. I just love the old fashioned blocks like sawtooth stars and churn dashes. Thanks so much for including the link for Carol's Churn Dash. I am currently working on Barbara Brackman's Civil War quilt (sew along with Karen Montgomery) and when I'm done, I will use my leftover for Carol's Churn Dash quilt. Thanks again, Olivia, and have a blessed weekend.

Hello Olivia, I was so touched by your obvious enthusiasm for the farmer's wife sampler quilt. I actually went and bought the book. I began to read the stories of these women and listen to their voices and look at the quilt blocks. Truly moving. So another quilt is going to be cut and sewn. Thank you for opening my eyes to something that I never would have otherwise looked at. I am mostly into European quilts and quilting and cross stitching. I have begun to explore N American crafts like I never have before. Truly an inspiration you are. Hugs

Oliva, I love your Quilt tubes. So many beautiful quilts, and how lucky you are to have a great friend to pass quilts in progress off to you. She knows you will not just add them to stash but complete them, and good for you. The picture of your daughter wrapped in the quilt reminds me of The statue of "Dignity" located at Chamberlain SD. Could I ask you for a special favor, would you please draw on a small piece of paper your quilting pattern, as I am also a free motion quilter and the quilting is not always easy to see in videos. Thank you so much.

Once again loved your QuiltyTube video! I too am a big CW Repro fan so for me this was so much eye candy. I know that for me it was the attraction of making the "looks like an antique" vibe of repro fabric quilts. It suddenly occurred to me that if you had professed a love of antique furniture, your quilt mates of the past would have never been as critical of your tastes as they were of your fabric style choice. Considering the long, prolific and successful careers of designers like Jo Morton, Kathleen Tracey, Paula Barnes, Faye Burgos, Judie Rothermel, Barbara Brackman, Betsy Chutchian (and her group of 19C Patchwork Divas), and more contemporary designers whose style is similar to the genre like Kim Diehl, Sheryl Johnson (Temecula Quilt Co), Edyta Sitar (Laundry Basket Quilts), they can't all be wrong!
If you are still interested in getting more comfortable with quilting feathers, I'd also recommend checking out Angela Walters "Free Motion Quilting Challenge" on "Fabulous Feathers" that remains free here on You tube. She also has free downloadable worksheets of all the motifs she demonstrates on her website "Quilting Is My Therapy". I had only quilted more traditional feather motifs (on a DSM) but needed something different to fill the curvy rows of a log cabin quilt set in diagonal "furrows" that I had made and her challenge gave me a flexible feather motif that perfectly filled the bill! I also quilted another simple top of all large rectangles that allowed me to try all the motifs she demonstrated. Had a lot of fun with that one!
Very much look forward to your "Top 10 Quilts" video!
[Edited] Oh and a P.S. I am currently working on a 2-1/2" scrap squares quilt top using the leftover Christmas fabrics from a "Christmas in July" project also adding in some coordinating panel squares to the layout. Sheri McGill over at Lessons Learnt here on You Tube also has one in progress and one she finished a couple of months ago. The "design" doesn't have a name but I learned about doing this from Pat Sloan (also here on You Tube) for whom this is her "go to" way of using up scraps: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2017/03/pat-sloan-how-to-make-a-bonus-quilt-with-25-squares-while-you-make-other-things.html

Beautiful quilts! How exciting for a designer to re-post a picture of your work. Your video actually inspired me to dig out a project I started two years ago...a woven star quilt using Kim Diehl's "Chocolate Covered Cherries" line. I got about half the blocks done, then had to go adult, and didn't make time to finish. Adulting is so annoying when it keeps us from playing with the pretty fabrics. I really like this new video schedule. Deep diving into your quilting is fun and informative. Look forward to all your upcoming Floss/Quilty Tubes. Have a lovely two weeks😊
