  • ECS Tuning knocked it out of the park with this Audi B9 S4 3.0T Valved Exhaust System. Part of my Stage 3 build, this non-resonated T304 stainless steal TIG welded exhaust created the race inspired sounds I was looking for. This full cat back system retains the active exhaust valves to manage sound output. It's comfortable when cruising around in Comfort mode, and super rowdy in the Dynamic sport mode. If you love crisp pops and bangs, especially on E85 with a hybrid turbo, you're going to love the crisp crackles this produces. When combined with the 034 Racing Catalyst and The Turbo Engineers TTE710 turbo I think this cat-back sounds incredible.

    Very nice!! That sounds like the perfect set up, Dmitry. While I'm not a fan of pops and bangs, it honestly looks and sounds good. Well Done, Man!! 👍

      Thank you! Yea the pops and bangs are a love it or hate it kind of thing I suppose. There's times where I don't want them and comfort mode takes care of that, but other than that I'm still loving this setup. I took the sound just a few days ago so it's all fully burned in now and I like how it turned out.

    Dmitry, never knew you were in Texas until this video, sounds great honestly, hope we get some exhaust options for the SQ5, not that I need my people hauler to be too loud 😂

      Yep out in the Houston area. Im sure some sq5 stuff will come out. There are quite a few people modding them. Ultimately im sure custom work could be done. A decent muffler shop should be able to cut the mufflers and valves off cleanly. Then you could have new mufflers welded in and if you want to keep the valves they could weld them back in too. Should be a good amount cheaper than a full catback. Ive done stuff like that several times before especially when looking for a bit more noise or when i didnt have much money and was younger. Its a bit risky if the sound ends up not what you want, its a bit of a pioneering thing. Though im sure there is a borla or similar muffler that would fit both sides. Its a fairly large space. Ive had some great results with it. There is a video of me doing it to my denali a while back. Came out great.

    Great video! I noticed the rear sway bar from 034. Did that make a big difference? How was that install?

      Yea it definitely makes a difference, the install isn't bad for the rear bar. I'll have a video out for the bar soon :)

    Hey, I just installed mine and when my valves are open it seems most of the exhaust comes out the outer pipes mainly. Is that normal?

    Hey was wondering if your exhaust touches the tunnel brace or rattles sometimes? I noticed more vibration and sometimes a rattle between 1.2-1.6 rpm.

      I've heard of this happening for some people. The solution I have heard is to either add a few washers to space out the tunnel brace or to switch to an aftermarket tunnel brace. Washers sure sound cheaper ;).

    What size Tips?

    How's the drone inside? I have a similar "home-made" setup and the drone on highway around 2.200 RPM is.. well.. loud when the valves are open. When closed it's fine-ish.

      @DmitrysGarage  Год назад

      Without a bunch of resonators and really quieting the car down these things just drone. It's probably similar, valves closed helps a lot. Hard to say how much of it is the exhaust since so much of the car was upgraded at the same time. I'd say its similar to the x-pipe mod just more of everything.

      @speedyvedo99 Год назад

      I've had my ECS valved exhaust for a year now and i can say in my experience the only way to get rid of that drone is with a tuned length J-pipe being welded on. Different resonators and whatnot might help, but theyll muffle and snuff out the tone and pops in all other RPM ranges as well.
      Shocking ECS didnt do this from the factory.

    hey dimitri, Is there noticable drone? is there an update you can give us on how it is now 2 months in? daily drivability?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Год назад

      So there is some drone, Ive yet to hear any drone free exhaust on these cars. The resonated version should help that. Mine is unresonated. While this is my daily I dont drive to an office or anything like that, but the level of drone (mine is worse as I have a aftermarket downpipe too) doesnt bother me.

      thanks for the reply! were the comparison tests with the stock exhaust including stock parts as well or did you have anything modified at the time? I think it sounds really good. Debating between this and the AWE track exhaust. @@DmitrysGarage
