    Well dione sir. As an electrical audio engineer I appreciate a correct explanation and demystifying the many factors involved. In the end ears matter.
    Great job.

    My perfect tone was achieved by setting the high and low positions with poles in neutral position then raising poles on on a,d,g,b. Based on the difference in volume of different strings.
    Bridge.
    High E 1.5mm
    B 1.5mm
    G 2.5mm
    D 2mm
    A 2.5mm
    Low E 2.5mm
    Neck
    High E 2.5mm
    B 2.5mm
    G 3.5mm
    D 3mm
    A 3.5mm
    Low E 3.5mm

    Thank you. This is the way to do it. Forget the measurement tool….use your ears.
    All pickups are different. It’s about the sound. You can hear clearly in this demo how correct set up can be done by listening….and how smooth the sound is when switching between bridge and neck when pick up height is correct. Thanks again

    I think this is the best video I’ve seen on pickup height I agree you have to be plugged in and make adjustments , I’ve seen so many videos that say 3/32 on the Low E and 1/16 on the high E , on a humbucker and your right about the pull from the magnets in my Opinion but most people say it doesn’t matter but I think it does.

      I agree with you, too. It's been proven on other videos. Myself, I try to find the "middle ground." I find the spot where it just starts to affect the strings, and stop. From there I adjust the amp.

    the different pick ups using the hearing and not
    measurement. Thank you.

    I have the same strat Blk with maple fret board. I hate the sound and never play it. I'm off to try your recommendations.
    I'll update after.
    You may have just saved a guitar 😊

    There is an EXACT sweet spot that can only be found if both/all pickups are adjusted exactly & each pole piece is adjusted exactly on both pickups. And if you go even a 1/4 turn away from that spot on a pole piece or pickup height screw it will be gone. You can make a cheap guitar scream by fine adjusting it and finding that ONE specific perfect adjustment on everything. If everything is exactly right you'll also feel way more vibration through the body. I've found that the exact spot is right in between where the magnetic pull makes the tone go from thin to muddy. I follow a different order of adjustments and pay no attention to volume difference or winding output.

    Thank you for not telling me where to set them, but why I might want to set them high vs. Low

    • @coilsboutiquepickups
      @coilsboutiquepickups  9 месяцев назад

      It just sounds different.. high pickup means more output, bigger mids and lows, greater output to hum ratio.

    I spend a lot of time messing with pick up height. I usually start with the middle because that is where I live on my Strat. Going to go back one more time and start with the bridge. Seems like someone else told me that also.

      The measurements of the pickups in this video will NOT be correct if using different pickups, different strings, or different tuning...

      On my Fender stratocaster, using 9s , I noticed that the neck pickup was very humming.... I adjusted the pickups. But after watching this I might check out the set up

    What about humbuckers that have individual screws for each string and these screws can be individually raised and lowered? Seems like a lot of variables....too many ....are being introduced into the process.

    • @coilsboutiquepickups
      @coilsboutiquepickups  11 месяцев назад

      We will publish a video on how to set the height of humbucker pickups soon. Each screw can be raised or lowered to set the volume of a specific string. First set the 1st and 6th string screws, then adjust the rest of the screws to achieve a balanced volume on the whole pickup.

    way too few people know this

  • @realniter
    @realniter 8 месяцев назад

    So what are the actual heights?

  • @DougHinVA
    @DougHinVA 10 месяцев назад +1

    making faces does NOT help viewers know what to do

    • @coilsboutiquepickups
      @coilsboutiquepickups  10 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry you feel that way, but it's definitely NOT about the faces it's about the tone. Use your ears and listen ,preferably with good headphones, and if you can't hear the differences, then adjusting the pickups won't matter to you anyway.
