Mine are bluetooth only. My Bose revolve does hook up USB for audio from the computer.
I don't know what the market is for this. Bose is obviously great/expensive but who exactly would want a mono outdoors speaker or pay for two/have the hassle of connecting them?
It’s actually really simple to pair in stereo. There are button sequences and in about 15 seconds I’m in stereo. As for playing just one as a mono speaker I’ll say this. I compared this single driver mono speaker to other dual driver “stereo” speakers of the same size and this Flex sounded more dynamic (particularly when on its back). I’ve only had mine for a couple of months so not sure about outdoor use (cold as %#@& where I live). But I did use it once out on my deck and it sounded great. It’s not for outdoor parties.
Just purchased a pair of these speakers to use in STEREO mode, I connect them manually using the buttons on the speakers, let’s just say pairing them is buggy would go more into detail if anyone else is having these issues.

I never had an issue pairing, just follow the directions
What I find best is to first have both turned on and which ever is currently playing music, start with that one with the BT vol+. Then wait till the voice stops completely and then do the other speaker BT vol- Then patiently wait for up to 10 seconds.

I got one this Christmas and soon found out it was mono. Damn, that's why it sounded off.. It's good sound but not worth $129.
I am not able to connect this to a Windows 8 laptop, disappointing because I told the BestBuy dude why I wanted it. I think the issue is that the only app I can use is the SoundTouch, not the one mentioned in the speaker directions.
You can connect with pc by Bluetooth directly. When you play music you need to manually pick the device inside speaker icon a pull-down box menu😅

I’m pissed I’ve only had my Bose soundlink flex for two months. And it stopped working. It will not charge and a red light flashes 6-7 times and that’s it. I seriously have only used it once a week to teach my cardio class, honestly!! I have an old Bose for the home that’s literally 15 years old and it’s still kickin. It’s too big to tote around for my classes. I tried texting support through a chat, well, never mind. Warranty is no longer valid because I got from Amazon around Xmas.
Now I’m going to need to purchase something else. I like the sound quality of Bose but what the hell happened to the quality of their products!!!😡🤬😤

I was gonna say, the warranty has got to be longer than two months.
I bought a pair via Bose ca had them working yesterday after much frustration but back to square one today. Very disappointed. I do not have enough years left to spend time working with frustrating equipment. No thanks. I have bought many Bose speakers over the years and always satisfied until now. Returned speakers for refund today.
American weights and measurements are so funny. “1.3 Pounds”- a metric number followed by an imperial weight. So confusing 😂
I want to give away Bose Soundlink color ..(mainly used for Bluetooth for my Samsung tablet)...will this unit give me better sound (although I will missout on a AUX-IN )😢😢😢
I may just go with JBL, Bose wants $149 or $150. Bose put on a reasonable price. Then i'll go with bose. But $150 ? They sound is not all that.
Just bought mine this morning and honestly not that impressed, it’s sound is a bit weak or puny, not at all what I was expecting, considering returning for the JBL charge 5

Charge 5 will get louder if that is what you are looking for. I use my Flex around the house and rarely go over 50%.

I prefer the higher Bluetooth 5.2 of Sony SRS XE-200…less muddy bass on the Sony after software update.
The Flex sounds much less muddy when on its back. It has position IQ and auto adjusts the EQ based off of 3 positions. Upright is that muddy, what some people call “warm” signature sound. On its back there is a treble boost and sounds brighter and more open. The third position is vertical (like hanging from the loop) and it is somewhere in between. As for BT 5.2 there is no sound advantage, only range.

don’t know about a blanket over it. I found it was quite the opposite where I wanted to put a blanket on it cause the treble was too bright like cats fighting.
