I just got C6 Ning on Kazuha Banner... I might build her on dead patches on Sumeru. I want a Mono Geo But I don't have Itto or Albedo. So Noelle/Ning/Garou/Zhongdong will do I think.
Mine is still at c5 💔 and she only missed last patch's floor 12, but this patch she's back to carry the whole team to full stars as always. Pull 50 times on current banner still no c6 ningguang, i'm so saddd 😭😭😭
One thing people have to know: Pyro characters' dmg ratios are generally lower than those of anemo, geo, and electro because they have vaporization and melt which both multiplys dmg insanely. Unlike them, anemo elevtro and geo, although have unique advantages, inevitably cannot do as much dmg as Pyro characters. Therefore, they have higher ratio to be in the same level with Pyro characters even without the elemental reactions. But in the video it is just mono dmg showcase of each character, which means yanfei particularly is not weaker than other if we see in party units. Nice video tho!
Catalyst anemo's attack values are bad as well, because they're expected to swirl, which adds both the damage from the swirl and any other reactions the swirling causes. This is why Heizou has bad normal attack multipliers. But, of course, his kit is designed so that you can go for either atk% or EM, and it'll work out, thanks to how his E works. With an EM build, you'll swirl for more, but won't hit as hard, while with an atk% + crit build, you will swirl for less damage, but have a harder hitting E. End result, you can build him either way.

Ehhhh I'm a veteran player and I think Ningguang's kinda... ok. She's also kinda hard to play on mobile because Hoyoverse refuses to fix her animation cancels (which is fair, animation cancels aren't intended).
doesn't surprise me. Non reaction based characters tend to have high scalings. These three are like hutao (yanfei) xiao (heizhou) and itto (ningguang). Hutao will definitely fall off without reactions like yanfei but because she has top tier hydro supports like yelan&xingqui she's way meta and we know meta likes reactions.
Tbh I think that's very fair. Reactions are very important to certain character unlike what my friend said . Most top tier character basically needs reactions to be important . Correction: Yelan doesn't work on HuTao. If you mean getting Yelan and Xingqiu both in the same team Yelan doesn't add anything to HuTao's damage. That's like getting Xingqiu in a Kokomi Ayaka freeze comp. Just saying
ningguang is so solid as a standalone character, but i've always been hesitant to use her because she just doesn't really fit into any team very well... like... she has difficulty finding synergy with other characters. its a shame she didn't get anything from the geo boom in 2.3, because she's not a DEF scaling character to take advantage of husk and gorou
I run her with Zhongli, Bennett, and Sucrose/Kazuha. There's geo resonance +shielder, cc, and a buffer/healer. You can definitely try her out with Yunjin, too, but I haven't built mine yet.
I personally use her in double geo double pyro team. My 2nd geo is usually zhongli. Benny for atk buff and xiangling for off field dps and pyro resonance. It's pretty good imo! I often use this team to clear abyss f12.

This one felt unfair for Yanfei, Heizou was allowed to swirl to get his E charges faster, wich increased his DPS, while Yanfei wasn't allowed to vaporize or melt her attacks, wich would also increase her DPS. Being a solo DPS showcase I think neither of them should have been allowed extra DPS increases like those. Ninguang was the clear winner here though.
I think they both should've gotten their intended buffs. You don't play Genshin with one character. Of course Ninguang is going to have the best solo damage, but solo damage is completely irrelevant.
Not letting heizou get his declension stacks I think would've put his at an unfair disadvantage because it's an integral part of his kit. It's not as though yanfei needs reactions to utilize her whole kit, because heizou charging his E is simply unfeasible it takes far too long

But who runs Yanfei without Hydro? Almost nobody. And nobody runs Heizou without swirl reactions, so just use supports on both or neither
honestly it's kinda sad seeing how yanfei never had any vape runs considering it's her best team. even a xingqiu with lvl 1 dull blade and no artifacts would be enough to properly showcase how strong yanfei is with reactions, which is her ideal gameplay. heizou and yanfei getting the jellyfish is a huge difference in how much dmg they gain for sure, but it's only bc yanfei is just that good of a character with her intended playstyle

yeah :( geo doesnt have any reactions so naturally they would deal more raw damage. i think that these showcases should've had specific teams for each characters, even if those teams are half built, just so that they can do some reactions.
Ningguang was my first triple crown and I use her for everything from the spiral abyss to overworld farming/roaming. I spent all of the primos I got from Inazuma to get her C6 on Ayaka's banner. To beginners: do not sleep on her. She's so good, especially if you have constellations on her, though C2 is definitely where she shines.
Her attack is so Slow Even you do The Animation Cancel its still Slow since Your not gonna use it in Battle so In MY opinion Ningguang Is One of the Worst Character Xinyan is More Good than Her In MY opinion
@@gin9794 In your opinion but in meta, she literally bosses burst support faster than Xinyan and even the likes of razor can main field. Mono geo Res spam shield burst rotate and she wipes through everything light work. Like she's literally a no effort DPS once built so if you can't get damage out of her to beat out Xinyan of all characters then that's a you skill issue not Ningguan lol no offense.
I too think it was a little bit unfair to let Heizou use Kokomi for swirls but not to Yanfei. Sure, the swirls doesn't improve Heizou's damage as much as vaporize does to Yanfei, but if not for the swirls Heizou would have to be 2 seconds charging his E which would make his time defeating the bosses a lot higher, therefore showing that just like Yanfei he needs to rely on reactions to propely function

I kinda disagree with this. the swirl is just there to trigger his counter which is his tool, not do damage. But Vape would completely change Yanfei's damage output. To me, that tickle swirl damage is equivalent to bringing Zhongli to apply shield, or using traveler to generate Particle for Ningguang or Barron Bunny for Yanyei. So, if we are to ban Heizou swirl, we should just not even use Zhongli, Amber, Xiao, traveler etc. in the first place.
I agree with this, if one character can use elemental reactions to improve their usability it’s only fair all of them can, it will just show what the character is capable of.

Everyone commenting about the gimmicky serpent bit at the end is missing the point. It would've been much more interesting to see how Yanfei's personal vaped damage compares to Ningguang and heizou, who don't rely on reactions to do damage. All of the runs should've included it, it's obvious without testing that Yanfei wouldn't compare to the others without vapes.
I love ur showdowns, but it kinda feels a little unfair. I wish you did showdowns using full teams for the characters, rather than just solo. People here may think a character like Yanfei is bad, but truthfully they just need to see her with good reactions. She's similar to Hu Tao in that sense. And Ning is an amazing DPS by raw power, I wouldn't say she really needs a super supportive like Yanfei, which I suppose gives her another leg up. I'm a Yanfei main to the core and it just makes me sad bcus she's so nasty with reactions. It's nice seeing big ning numbers too tho I love her as well. I just love catalyst characters. Can't wait for your next showdown
Yanfei hits like a truck when she can melt the only problem is having fast enough off field cryo application Ayaka's ult is the only thing that can really hit it.
@@cinnamon4954 I used Yanfei, Bennett, Rosaria and Ayaka together in abyss at a time where I was struggling to get better times in floor 12 that team helped me realize I wasn't using team comps that gel well with how I play Yanfei. I used Xingqui with her a lot early on but the swords don't proc from her ult, Skill or charged attacks which meant my damage wasn't too good. Once I switched to a melt team I saw much higher damage output.
Always use characters with reactions in showcases. This is how most people will use them and shows their potential. I feel like heizou would have been last in most of these showcases if it was fair. I would like a rematch.
Not necessarily since the artifacts are also wrong here. But yeah, Yanfei wouldn't have been so far behind even with a Kokomi with no artifacts and a level 1 weapon helping out. But to be fair, Heizou would also need to constantly swirl. As it stands, this video is useless for comparing these three characters so we can only imagine which one actually performs the best...

Nah, the video might be unfair but all characters have their own strength in different circumstances, it would never be fair to rank and compare all of them like this tbh. There would never be such thing as playing optimally and fair too because it will involve whole other team comps for different char. NingguangHeizou quick swap, Yanfei overloaded with Raiden, etc. Also, not saying the video is doing right or whatever but Yanfei pyro team without reaction is actually a very viable comp if you have the right teammates. Though the fact that Yanfei CA wasn't fully stacked is pain indeed.
I don't mind it when you add another character to help Heizou swirl, but maybe you want to do the same for Yanfei. Like doing 2 runs where one is monopyro, and the other one is melt/vaporize for yanfei

Really enjoyed this showdown! I do feel that it is hard to compare anemo and geo to the reaction elements... Yanfei did her best but I feel, like you showed, she generally is behind without reactions and then just ahead (or dead even) with them.
This is why I'm not a fan of how he's running these comparisons nowadays. It's simply not an accurate comparison cause he's not running characters on their ideal teams.
@@liiich6175 maybe with 5 star dps if credit cards are involved but as far as 4 star dps goes, Ningguang still holds up as one of the better catalyst dps. IWTLG already made a showcase between Yanfei vs Ningguang and Ningguang won majority of the tests and now with Heizou added she once again triumphed when it came to single target tests.

Catalyst has always been my favourite weapon and gameplay and I have maxed out all three of them, but especially Ningguang as well as double crowning her. Thanks to her I was able to cheese Thunder Manifestation in this abyss. She's honestly so underrated and her burst and skill do an insane amount of damage for such low cooldown.
Obviously ningguang were going to be, her personal dmg is just insane, but surprisingly above yanfei, i thought he was going to be more fun than those 2 but a below dps input
Watching the Yanfei piloting against the cryovine was painful. Clearly less research when into how to actually play her than Heizou and Ningguang. The choice in artifact sets really hits home the lack of attention to her builds as well. It was like watching an LoL iron player first time Ryze.

Using Yanfei without reactions or vv shred gimps her super hard it's not really a fair test. I'm getting up to 144% pyro damage with lost prayer, C6 seal buff and Kazuha buff it makes a big difference. Ayaka's ult does work well with Yanfei as her biggest damage comes as she takes the field with her ult and skill ready as she gets max seals from both it was good to see it. The abyss mechanical array would be a good showcase as the world bosses die too quick.
I think the swirls helped Heizou more. Without them he would of had to spend time charging up his E. You also kept saying how Yanfei is meant to be played with reactions, so why not play her with reactions? They are a part of her character. Pyro characters have lower multipliers *because* they are meant to be used with reactions.
You should test those solo without other team members because sometimes your teams are not fair to other two characters tested, for example here yanfei was unable to vaporize or melt while heizou could swirl and ningg had geo resonance (which boosts her more than pyro resonance does to yanfei) - catalyst main who mains all three
Great video! One bit of feedback - It would've been great to see Yanfei's personal damage with vapes in all of the runs rather than solo pyro. i.e. partnered with an ungeared Xingqiu I think it would've been a lot more meaningful to see what a normal pyro unit's personal damage is in their natural team scenario is. Especially since anemo and geo characters aren't dependent on reactions like pyro reactions are, it feels stacked against Yanfei without reactions. I'm much more curious about how Yanfei's personal vaped damage compares to Ningguang and Heizou, rather than personal pyro damage, as that result was pretty obvious from the outset.
Considering how vape works tho, we'd see literally Yanfei's time cut in half everytime... unfair to the teammates if she's allowed reactions, but unfair to her to have reactions. I do agree tho, a "4th Yanfei" option would have been great that allowed her to have reactions.

@@latioshunter Heizou also got to react though? He'd be about half as fast without his swirl declension stacks too. If vape Yanfei ends up way better than the other two then that's just reality. You're not going to run Yanfei without a hydro or cryo character just like you're not going to run Ninguang without geo resonance or Heizou without swirls.
Lost prayer is better imo for yanfei. Kagura relies heavily on skill. Lost prayer increase all elemental damage way more and since yanfei stays on field it helps her..also the movement speed is a nice little bonus..
I saw the free swirls Heizhou got more like how everyone got particle generation. Since it's not extra damage, but saving time from charging. Kinda like how baron bunny is used to funnel for Yanfei etc. Besides, Ningguang got geo resonance which is so strong but no one had a problem with that, methinks. A true solo show case though would be with them being the only party member and Heizhou won't really do well alone, but then again, it's meant to be a party gameplay kinda game.
If solo I think ningguang will win too, the only thing she may suffer is if there's bunch of enemies since she can't do AoE without her skill or c1 (even c1 isn't that changeable since her normal attack isn't where she shine), but regardless, ningguang would win since she has low cooldown for both skill and brust and her energy ult cost is low
Dmg isn't the only important thing. I love Xiangling to death and use her a lot but u can't deny even with a raiden in team she really has a lot of energy requirements and will struggle without having her burst at all times. Ningguang, Yanfei are not dependent on E and Q. That is why it's unfair to compare sub dps/burst dps to main dps. It's like saying "bruh Raiden is soo much better than Ayaka" when Raiden is burst dependent.
Good showdown! Like you said IWTLG, the fact that all three of these characters are at near parity shows that Mihoyo is trying its best to maintain some semblance of balance with the 4-star DPS characters. It's also nice to see validation that all three are surprisingly viable in pretty much any situation.
Man, that wasn't very fair for yanfei! As a double-crowned yanfei main I'm a little ashamed that she wasn't allowed to use reactions, because it would've made the playing field a lot more equal.
I think for the future, any supports thats basically required for the character (like heizou swirling for stacks to save 4s of charge up for his e, yanfei needing a hydro to vape, ningguang needing a geo for resonance) should be included in the teams, since when the character is being balanced mhy is definitely considering those factors (seen by lower scaling on pyro characters, higher on non reactions, etc), but give the supports a build that contributes basically nothing to the team besides that core feature (so for xq with yanfei that could be something like lvl0 sac sword r5, 2pc emblem 2pc random set that doesnt give damage, er/def/def, max er rolls, min atk and crit rolls) so that they can do their job for the main dps being compared but add nothing else after. This issue is most evident in the abyss runs where ningguang as a dps should be able to kill the rooms faster (especially with her aoe constellation somewhat overcoming her single target issue), but the overreliance on the xiangling core makes heizou and yanfei barely need to attack in every room, so instead of a dps comparison it was more of a short duration burst dmg comparison where heizou easily wins since his e and q can nuke harder than the other 2 but he loses out when he needs to auto attack, and yanfei doesnt have a hydro/ningguang doesnt have a geo to help them. Done this way, if a team cant get 3 stars or cant even clear a room in time, it is also useful in helping gauge their power level, so getting 3 stars every room shouldnt be a priority i would still take comparisons in full teams, but thats not very feasible at your level of investment, even for abyss, since everything dies way too quickly to actually compare how much the main dps in question is doing for the team
It‘s really nice to see that they‘re balanced even tho their release dates are all different. I‘m really happy that I managed to get Heizou to C6, I have him at 9,12,12 and I’m planning to crown his Elemental Skill. To me he is (currently) the most fun to play character.
Inthink the free swirls were not fair, bc it would have slowed his solo time a lot. To balance, you could put kokomi in all the rosters (instesd of amber for yanfei)

The kokomi on heizou st the first primo Vishal I think was a little unfair considering what you said since he kinda requires the application so he could function at all but he does need so it’s kind of a fuzzy situation

Awesome video, thanks for the effort! A few notes: there were a number of times when Heizou had his declension stacks built up and yet you didn't unleash his punch immediately but rather kept on triggering swirl. As his punch can be deployed so quickly and the stacks built up again relatively quickly, that cost at least a few seconds in each fight. Yanfei really should have been able to benefit from Kokomi's water application too to show her potential. And Ninguang didn't walk through her Jade Screen a few times before using her burst, which likely also cost her a second or two per fight. But otherwise, great video!
As raw damage, ningguang maybe better than other 2 As teamgame, yanfei maybe a bit higher than other 2 Heizhou is fun but he need to play as enabler, means he need a good sub dps for him to do good
I wonder why the last round wasn't in second half spiral abyss? i think second half of the abyss can let you run all of them with their best team comp plus we can see how their performance in single target and multi targets scenario. But nonetheless thank you for this amazing video
I personally think the Regisvine alone is sufficient for the solo showcase, and the fights following should use tailored builds and teams to really show how they perform. I would also shy away from Crit Fishing builds during the main showcase competition and maybe add them in at the end as a little "bonus" segment. Just my opinion, love your videos either way.

Yeah, that's why there are so many Geo teams beating records in Abyss...oh wait, there are none. Obviously because they don't have reactions that amplify their damage, Geo and Anemo characters hit harder just from skill scaling, but as soon as other elements get reactions, Anemo and Geo are left in the dust

That’s where geo comes in. It is consistent and trusted. Not to wait or gauge a reaction. Just get you 36 stars and go. The gold is getting 36 stars and at speed record. Even 99% of content creators just use consistent DPS. Geo is ungabunga which most player do. Eula that sets records is rarely in abyss top 20. Making a point that applies to 20 people out of millions is nonsense
I don't think in the first tests, any elemental resonanse should be taken into account... eventually, all 3 characters should use the pyro one. Geo resonance is really strong - one of the main DMG Boost Sources for Geo units. By giving Ning a Geo Resonanse, Yanfei should able to vape (or at least do any elemental reactions) at this point, because that's from where her potential comes. AND, for whatever reason, you also allowed Heizou to skip E charging. Pyro resonance is kinda laughable compare to Geo one. Every Geo DPS wants to run with its Resonance, and you won't always go with Pyro Resonance on other characters, especially Heizou. Another thing is that by making everyone's 100% crit, you've actually lowered realistic performance of Heizou's C6 (which provides up to +16% crit rate for his E). In that case, I think for a longer fights, Heizou should get some extra atk bonus or a crit dmg, perhaps even +32%. Ofc I know it's really hard to balance stats on all characters, but it's still doable; by using lower level crit dmg Circlet on Ning and Yanfei for example. And in the last test (against Ice Cube) it was more of a Xiangling showcase, rather than Ningguang's... There is still some value here, however... that's in my opinion, one of the most inconsistent video-test you've ever made.
Each of these abyss runs were just Xiangling and Kazuha showcases honestly, I guess they were shown because it's a tradition to put them in a DPS showdown
I don't really think there's a winner between the three of them. It comes down to which character you personally prefer and the time you spend building them. A 1 or 5 seconds difference is absolutely fine and incredibly well balanced
I think an important part of yanfei's rotation to consume less stamina while ulting is to go 2NA then CA so she can have 4 seals, instead of 3 half the time, or at least that's how I play with her
Lmao, heziou himself can't even take advantage of the vvv shred, he's anemo, ningaung is the best dps here, lmao try bursting with her when. You're left with just 5 seconds in abyss and you'll see why I say she's the best

I've always been a Ningguang carry until I got Itto... And now I still use Ningguang as my main carry and Itto as a burst dps 😂 she consistently dishes out more damage than Itto when he doesnt have his ult ready, and acts as a really good battery for him during his downtime because of how much energy she generates at C2
As a free to play, even just a C1 Ningguang already becomes your most reliable DPS She's geo, so she doesn't get much advantage from reactions, but as long as you have a shield, her damage increases a lot
C6 Kazuha doesn’t really compare to any top tier dps, it’s a fun cool looking constellation, but building em to get dmg bonus sacrificing atk and crit isn’t really ideal, and if you don’t build em, he won’t have much em to get buffed from, it’s a decent dmg increase but on a character that isn’t meant for dmg

I wonder if it's fair to compare the damage without reaction support. Heizou gets a considerable amount of damage from swirl, and yanfei gets a considerable amount of damage from other reactions like vape. I wonder if it would have been fair to give each character a fischl with minimum stats just to compare damage when one gets swirl and another gets overload, and one can set up crystalizes more efficiently. For the abyss fight, it felt like the 4 star showcase characters didn't really do much, and the teams definitely benefited heizou and yanfei more than it did Ningguang (who's much better with geo resonance as she also functions as a great battery while being a main DPS). It also felt like Bennett/Kazuha/Xiangling as a 3 man duo wouldn't have done significantly worse without the main DPS to join them. Even if you ran a main DPS amber you'd still be fine if you slapped bennett kazuha and xiangling on a team.
I think he did the right thing, both geo and pyro have a DMG boost on the resonance so letting Heizou swirl for minimal damage and the declension stacks seems fair.

Pyro can make reactions Geo can't, they have better numbers to cover that, if it's about reactions Yanfei wins, if it's about personal damage Ningguang wins, Heizou is competing with an support element on a non support build. This is exactly why Electro releases awesome characters or piles of garbage the element has damage oriented reactions with sad damage and a sad excuse of a bonus for using two.

This was fun. I mained Ningguang for almost a year, only trading her out when I got Itto. She's great on single target monsters and--if you have a grouper like I did--pretty good on multiple enemies, too. It's good to see the catalyst users so close.
I feel like if you’re not gonna give Yanfei a character to also react off of then you should’ve given her a set like Lavawalker or Shimenawa if the argument is supposed to be their own personal dmg.
This is absolutely not fair for yanfei in overworld comparisons. Both heizou and nigguang showcases met their respective ideal situation except for yanfei. Why would even compare "raw" damage when you can just compare each with their ideal teams. And who would want to not run xq/yelan in yanfei team

In the promovishap fight I notticed Heizou had his e active a couple of times at full stacks without it being used. I believe he could squeeze 1-2 more e sttacks.
Swirls add minimum damage compared to vaporizes but mainly it is literally required for Heizou not to feel awkeard to play without that awkward E charge. For Anemo characters swirls are a part of their kit. But if you for example randomly added a little pyro for Garyu then it would make a fuck tón of dofference and it isn't really a core part of her kit because it isn't like she needs to melt for her frostflake to activate. Heizou on the other hand literally can't function without swirls.
I gotta disagree with you on this one, you say it doesn't add much damege but it also is required for him to contribute damege, the same argument could be made for I believe it's jeans attack speed buff for yanfei as it allows her to effectively gain seals between charge attacks which she can't do normally
Yes, he does need swirls to speed up the building of his declension stacks. But you do hopefully know about the whole charging aspect too, right? It's cumbersome but certainly functional.

Heizou should be the only character contributing to dealing damage. Swirling is fine if the enemy is applied with an element they apply themselves, but if you use another character to apply an element to the enemy, then its really a 2v1 with Heizou being the main dmg dealer.
It all depends on the amount of enemies. Ningguang is like a Geo shotgun: she excels at single target, focused damage, but falls off when facing multiple enemies. Her jade's aoe through constellation is very minimal to count. Her burst's jades get spread among multiple enemies which makes her total damage spread itself thinner, and uncontrolled. Meanwhile, both Heizou and Yanfei (much like the case with Childe) thrive on situations with multiple enemies, and elemental reactions. Heizou needs grouped up enemies to trigger multiple swirls with his burst and autos, to fill in stacks for his E, his main downfall being the cooldown on his elemental skill being far too long to efficiently spam when it's the bread and butter of his kit. In a sense, his elemental skill is his real burst. Yanfei's charged attacks grow on aoe with stacks, and depends on elemental reactions (and her burst) to amplify her own average damage to ridiculously strong heights. Her main issue of course being stamina management and enemy repositioning since her attack animations and projectile speed/icd on next animation cycle (hello ningguang mains I know you understand animation cancelling quite well) are quite awkward as is the case with every ranged catalyst user. Heizou got the advantage on this merely from how good flow his autoattacks have compared to Ningguang's or Yanfei's, which is an improvement on design.

I can understand the thought process behind running the same weapon for tests on everyone but not giving yanfei a hydro applicator for the dps comparison eludes me when you're granting heizou that luxury.

Wanderer's troupe and Crimson Witch are close in dps for yanfei but the reason he used Wanderer was bc there no reactions being used for most of the vid sidenote: the no reactions really hurts me to see as geo and anemo have higher scaling on the account of them not being able to vape/melt, so it's like yanfei was missing part of her kit

One thing people have to know: Pyro characters' dmg ratios are generally lower than those of anemo, geo, and electro because they have vaporization and melt which both multiplys dmg insanely. Unlike them, anemo elevtro and geo, although have unique advantages, inevitably cannot do as much dmg as Pyro characters. Therefore, they have higher ratio to be in the same level with Pyro characters even without the elemental reactions. But in the video it is just mono dmg showcase of each character, which means yanfei particularly is not weaker than other if we see in party units. Nice video tho!
Catalyst anemo's attack values are bad as well, because they're expected to swirl, which adds both the damage from the swirl and any other reactions the swirling causes.
This is why Heizou has bad normal attack multipliers. But, of course, his kit is designed so that you can go for either atk% or EM, and it'll work out, thanks to how his E works. With an EM build, you'll swirl for more, but won't hit as hard, while with an atk% + crit build, you will swirl for less damage, but have a harder hitting E. End result, you can build him either way.

doesn't surprise me. Non reaction based characters tend to have high scalings. These three are like hutao (yanfei) xiao (heizhou) and itto (ningguang). Hutao will definitely fall off without reactions like yanfei but because she has top tier hydro supports like yelan&xingqui she's way meta and we know meta likes reactions.

ningguang is so solid as a standalone character, but i've always been hesitant to use her because she just doesn't really fit into any team very well... like... she has difficulty finding synergy with other characters. its a shame she didn't get anything from the geo boom in 2.3, because she's not a DEF scaling character to take advantage of husk and gorou

I run her with Zhongli, Bennett, and Sucrose/Kazuha. There's geo resonance +shielder, cc, and a buffer/healer. You can definitely try her out with Yunjin, too, but I haven't built mine yet.
I personally use her in double geo double pyro team. My 2nd geo is usually zhongli. Benny for atk buff and xiangling for off field dps and pyro resonance. It's pretty good imo! I often use this team to clear abyss f12.

This one felt unfair for Yanfei, Heizou was allowed to swirl to get his E charges faster, wich increased his DPS, while Yanfei wasn't allowed to vaporize or melt her attacks, wich would also increase her DPS. Being a solo DPS showcase I think neither of them should have been allowed extra DPS increases like those. Ninguang was the clear winner here though.
I think they both should've gotten their intended buffs. You don't play Genshin with one character. Of course Ninguang is going to have the best solo damage, but solo damage is completely irrelevant.
Yanfei with Xingqiu or/and Yelan would win for sure. Would be nice a video where those characters are played with the optimal teams for each one.

Not letting heizou get his declension stacks I think would've put his at an unfair disadvantage because it's an integral part of his kit. It's not as though yanfei needs reactions to utilize her whole kit, because heizou charging his E is simply unfeasible it takes far too long

honestly it's kinda sad seeing how yanfei never had any vape runs considering it's her best team. even a xingqiu with lvl 1 dull blade and no artifacts would be enough to properly showcase how strong yanfei is with reactions, which is her ideal gameplay. heizou and yanfei getting the jellyfish is a huge difference in how much dmg they gain for sure, but it's only bc yanfei is just that good of a character with her intended playstyle

yeah :( geo doesnt have any reactions so naturally they would deal more raw damage. i think that these showcases should've had specific teams for each characters, even if those teams are half built, just so that they can do some reactions.
Ningguang was my first triple crown and I use her for everything from the spiral abyss to overworld farming/roaming. I spent all of the primos I got from Inazuma to get her C6 on Ayaka's banner. To beginners: do not sleep on her. She's so good, especially if you have constellations on her, though C2 is definitely where she shines.

I kinda disagree with this. the swirl is just there to trigger his counter which is his tool, not do damage. But Vape would completely change Yanfei's damage output. To me, that tickle swirl damage is equivalent to bringing Zhongli to apply shield, or using traveler to generate Particle for Ningguang or Barron Bunny for Yanyei. So, if we are to ban Heizou swirl, we should just not even use Zhongli, Amber, Xiao, traveler etc. in the first place.

Everyone commenting about the gimmicky serpent bit at the end is missing the point. It would've been much more interesting to see how Yanfei's personal vaped damage compares to Ningguang and heizou, who don't rely on reactions to do damage. All of the runs should've included it, it's obvious without testing that Yanfei wouldn't compare to the others without vapes.
I love ur showdowns, but it kinda feels a little unfair. I wish you did showdowns using full teams for the characters, rather than just solo. People here may think a character like Yanfei is bad, but truthfully they just need to see her with good reactions. She's similar to Hu Tao in that sense. And Ning is an amazing DPS by raw power, I wouldn't say she really needs a super supportive like Yanfei, which I suppose gives her another leg up. I'm a Yanfei main to the core and it just makes me sad bcus she's so nasty with reactions. It's nice seeing big ning numbers too tho I love her as well. I just love catalyst characters. Can't wait for your next showdown

@@cinnamon4954 I used Yanfei, Bennett, Rosaria and Ayaka together in abyss at a time where I was struggling to get better times in floor 12 that team helped me realize I wasn't using team comps that gel well with how I play Yanfei. I used Xingqui with her a lot early on but the swords don't proc from her ult, Skill or charged attacks which meant my damage wasn't too good. Once I switched to a melt team I saw much higher damage output.

Always use characters with reactions in showcases. This is how most people will use them and shows their potential. I feel like heizou would have been last in most of these showcases if it was fair. I would like a rematch.
Not necessarily since the artifacts are also wrong here. But yeah, Yanfei wouldn't have been so far behind even with a Kokomi with no artifacts and a level 1 weapon helping out. But to be fair, Heizou would also need to constantly swirl. As it stands, this video is useless for comparing these three characters so we can only imagine which one actually performs the best...

There would never be such thing as playing optimally and fair too because it will involve whole other team comps for different char. NingguangHeizou quick swap, Yanfei overloaded with Raiden, etc.
Also, not saying the video is doing right or whatever but Yanfei pyro team without reaction is actually a very viable comp if you have the right teammates. Though the fact that Yanfei CA wasn't fully stacked is pain indeed.

I don't mind it when you add another character to help Heizou swirl, but maybe you want to do the same for Yanfei. Like doing 2 runs where one is monopyro, and the other one is melt/vaporize for yanfei
Melt/vape makes a massive difference in yanfei's damage in comparison to stacking Heizou's e charge faster.

Really enjoyed this showdown! I do feel that it is hard to compare anemo and geo to the reaction elements... Yanfei did her best but I feel, like you showed, she generally is behind without reactions and then just ahead (or dead even) with them.
This is why I'm not a fan of how he's running these comparisons nowadays. It's simply not an accurate comparison cause he's not running characters on their ideal teams.

IWTLG already made a showcase between Yanfei vs Ningguang and Ningguang won majority of the tests and now with Heizou added she once again triumphed when it came to single target tests.

Catalyst has always been my favourite weapon and gameplay and I have maxed out all three of them, but especially Ningguang as well as double crowning her. Thanks to her I was able to cheese Thunder Manifestation in this abyss. She's honestly so underrated and her burst and skill do an insane amount of damage for such low cooldown.

Watching the Yanfei piloting against the cryovine was painful. Clearly less research when into how to actually play her than Heizou and Ningguang. The choice in artifact sets really hits home the lack of attention to her builds as well. It was like watching an LoL iron player first time Ryze.
The Geovis Yanfei gameplay was just as bad... Painful to watch the failed basic attack -> charged attack timings.
Less research on how to play Ningguang also, not once he run past the wall before burst.

Using Yanfei without reactions or vv shred gimps her super hard it's not really a fair test. I'm getting up to 144% pyro damage with lost prayer, C6 seal buff and Kazuha buff it makes a big difference.
Ayaka's ult does work well with Yanfei as her biggest damage comes as she takes the field with her ult and skill ready as she gets max seals from both it was good to see it. The abyss mechanical array would be a good showcase as the world bosses die too quick.
I think the swirls helped Heizou more. Without them he would of had to spend time charging up his E. You also kept saying how Yanfei is meant to be played with reactions, so why not play her with reactions? They are a part of her character. Pyro characters have lower multipliers *because* they are meant to be used with reactions.
hu tao is the exception. She dont need reactions and she still smashes all in single target lol
You should test those solo without other team members because sometimes your teams are not fair to other two characters tested, for example here yanfei was unable to vaporize or melt while heizou could swirl and ningg had geo resonance (which boosts her more than pyro resonance does to yanfei)

Great video! One bit of feedback - It would've been great to see Yanfei's personal damage with vapes in all of the runs rather than solo pyro. i.e. partnered with an ungeared Xingqiu
I think it would've been a lot more meaningful to see what a normal pyro unit's personal damage is in their natural team scenario is. Especially since anemo and geo characters aren't dependent on reactions like pyro reactions are, it feels stacked against Yanfei without reactions. I'm much more curious about how Yanfei's personal vaped damage compares to Ningguang and Heizou, rather than personal pyro damage, as that result was pretty obvious from the outset.
Considering how vape works tho, we'd see literally Yanfei's time cut in half everytime... unfair to the teammates if she's allowed reactions, but unfair to her to have reactions. I do agree tho, a "4th Yanfei" option would have been great that allowed her to have reactions.

Kagura relies heavily on skill. Lost prayer increase all elemental damage way more and since yanfei stays on field it helps her..also the movement speed is a nice little bonus..
I saw the free swirls Heizhou got more like how everyone got particle generation. Since it's not extra damage, but saving time from charging. Kinda like how baron bunny is used to funnel for Yanfei etc. Besides, Ningguang got geo resonance which is so strong but no one had a problem with that, methinks.
A true solo show case though would be with them being the only party member and Heizhou won't really do well alone, but then again, it's meant to be a party gameplay kinda game.
If solo I think ningguang will win too, the only thing she may suffer is if there's bunch of enemies since she can't do AoE without her skill or c1 (even c1 isn't that changeable since her normal attack isn't where she shine), but regardless, ningguang would win since she has low cooldown for both skill and brust and her energy ult cost is low

Dmg isn't the only important thing. I love Xiangling to death and use her a lot but u can't deny even with a raiden in team she really has a lot of energy requirements and will struggle without having her burst at all times. Ningguang, Yanfei are not dependent on E and Q. That is why it's unfair to compare sub dps/burst dps to main dps. It's like saying "bruh Raiden is soo much better than Ayaka" when Raiden is burst dependent.

Like you said IWTLG, the fact that all three of these characters are at near parity shows that Mihoyo is trying its best to maintain some semblance of balance with the 4-star DPS characters. It's also nice to see validation that all three are surprisingly viable in pretty much any situation.
Man, that wasn't very fair for yanfei! As a double-crowned yanfei main I'm a little ashamed that she wasn't allowed to use reactions, because it would've made the playing field a lot more equal.
I think for the future, any supports thats basically required for the character (like heizou swirling for stacks to save 4s of charge up for his e, yanfei needing a hydro to vape, ningguang needing a geo for resonance) should be included in the teams, since when the character is being balanced mhy is definitely considering those factors (seen by lower scaling on pyro characters, higher on non reactions, etc), but give the supports a build that contributes basically nothing to the team besides that core feature (so for xq with yanfei that could be something like lvl0 sac sword r5, 2pc emblem 2pc random set that doesnt give damage, er/def/def, max er rolls, min atk and crit rolls) so that they can do their job for the main dps being compared but add nothing else after.
This issue is most evident in the abyss runs where ningguang as a dps should be able to kill the rooms faster (especially with her aoe constellation somewhat overcoming her single target issue), but the overreliance on the xiangling core makes heizou and yanfei barely need to attack in every room, so instead of a dps comparison it was more of a short duration burst dmg comparison where heizou easily wins since his e and q can nuke harder than the other 2 but he loses out when he needs to auto attack, and yanfei doesnt have a hydro/ningguang doesnt have a geo to help them. Done this way, if a team cant get 3 stars or cant even clear a room in time, it is also useful in helping gauge their power level, so getting 3 stars every room shouldnt be a priority
i would still take comparisons in full teams, but thats not very feasible at your level of investment, even for abyss, since everything dies way too quickly to actually compare how much the main dps in question is doing for the team

A few notes: there were a number of times when Heizou had his declension stacks built up and yet you didn't unleash his punch immediately but rather kept on triggering swirl. As his punch can be deployed so quickly and the stacks built up again relatively quickly, that cost at least a few seconds in each fight. Yanfei really should have been able to benefit from Kokomi's water application too to show her potential. And Ninguang didn't walk through her Jade Screen a few times before using her burst, which likely also cost her a second or two per fight.
But otherwise, great video!

He's probably just don't know the best tactic against 2nd half yet for single target dps...
It's because getting good runs of the second half is a major hassle - each time you reset you have to clear the first half.
I personally think the Regisvine alone is sufficient for the solo showcase, and the fights following should use tailored builds and teams to really show how they perform.
I would also shy away from Crit Fishing builds during the main showcase competition and maybe add them in at the end as a little "bonus" segment.

99.999999% of genshin Players are not setting records. What you need is a consistent DPS to clear the abyss. That’s where geo comes in. It is consistent and trusted. Not to wait or gauge a reaction. Just get you 36 stars and go. The gold is getting 36 stars and at speed record. Even 99% of content creators just use consistent DPS. Geo is ungabunga which most player do. Eula that sets records is rarely in abyss top 20. Making a point that applies to 20 people out of millions is nonsense
I don't think in the first tests, any elemental resonanse should be taken into account... eventually, all 3 characters should use the pyro one.
Geo resonance is really strong - one of the main DMG Boost Sources for Geo units. By giving Ning a Geo Resonanse, Yanfei should able to vape (or at least do any elemental reactions) at this point, because that's from where her potential comes. AND, for whatever reason, you also allowed Heizou to skip E charging.
Pyro resonance is kinda laughable compare to Geo one. Every Geo DPS wants to run with its Resonance, and you won't always go with Pyro Resonance on other characters, especially Heizou.
Another thing is that by making everyone's 100% crit, you've actually lowered realistic performance of Heizou's C6 (which provides up to +16% crit rate for his E).
In that case, I think for a longer fights, Heizou should get some extra atk bonus or a crit dmg, perhaps even +32%.
Ofc I know it's really hard to balance stats on all characters, but it's still doable; by using lower level crit dmg Circlet on Ning and Yanfei for example.
And in the last test (against Ice Cube) it was more of a Xiangling showcase, rather than Ningguang's...
There is still some value here, however... that's in my opinion, one of the most inconsistent video-test you've ever made.
Each of these abyss runs were just Xiangling and Kazuha showcases honestly, I guess they were shown because it's a tradition to put them in a DPS showdown
I don't really think there's a winner between the three of them. It comes down to which character you personally prefer and the time you spend building them. A 1 or 5 seconds difference is absolutely fine and incredibly well balanced

I think an important part of yanfei's rotation to consume less stamina while ulting is to go 2NA then CA so she can have 4 seals, instead of 3 half the time, or at least that's how I play with her

I've always been a Ningguang carry until I got Itto... And now I still use Ningguang as my main carry and Itto as a burst dps 😂 she consistently dishes out more damage than Itto when he doesnt have his ult ready, and acts as a really good battery for him during his downtime because of how much energy she generates at C2

C6 Kazuha doesn’t really compare to any top tier dps, it’s a fun cool looking constellation, but building em to get dmg bonus sacrificing atk and crit isn’t really ideal, and if you don’t build em, he won’t have much em to get buffed from, it’s a decent dmg increase but on a character that isn’t meant for dmg

I wonder if it's fair to compare the damage without reaction support. Heizou gets a considerable amount of damage from swirl, and yanfei gets a considerable amount of damage from other reactions like vape. I wonder if it would have been fair to give each character a fischl with minimum stats just to compare damage when one gets swirl and another gets overload, and one can set up crystalizes more efficiently.
For the abyss fight, it felt like the 4 star showcase characters didn't really do much, and the teams definitely benefited heizou and yanfei more than it did Ningguang (who's much better with geo resonance as she also functions as a great battery while being a main DPS). It also felt like Bennett/Kazuha/Xiangling as a 3 man duo wouldn't have done significantly worse without the main DPS to join them. Even if you ran a main DPS amber you'd still be fine if you slapped bennett kazuha and xiangling on a team.
I think he did the right thing, both geo and pyro have a DMG boost on the resonance so letting Heizou swirl for minimal damage and the declension stacks seems fair.

This was fun. I mained Ningguang for almost a year, only trading her out when I got Itto. She's great on single target monsters and--if you have a grouper like I did--pretty good on multiple enemies, too. It's good to see the catalyst users so close.

In the promovishap fight I notticed Heizou had his e active a couple of times at full stacks without it being used. I believe he could squeeze 1-2 more e sttacks.
Swirls add minimum damage compared to vaporizes but mainly it is literally required for Heizou not to feel awkeard to play without that awkward E charge. For Anemo characters swirls are a part of their kit. But if you for example randomly added a little pyro for Garyu then it would make a fuck tón of dofference and it isn't really a core part of her kit because it isn't like she needs to melt for her frostflake to activate. Heizou on the other hand literally can't function without swirls.

Heizou should be the only character contributing to dealing damage. Swirling is fine if the enemy is applied with an element they apply themselves, but if you use another character to apply an element to the enemy, then its really a 2v1 with Heizou being the main dmg dealer.
It all depends on the amount of enemies.
Ningguang is like a Geo shotgun: she excels at single target, focused damage, but falls off when facing multiple enemies. Her jade's aoe through constellation is very minimal to count. Her burst's jades get spread among multiple enemies which makes her total damage spread itself thinner, and uncontrolled.
Meanwhile, both Heizou and Yanfei (much like the case with Childe) thrive on situations with multiple enemies, and elemental reactions.
Heizou needs grouped up enemies to trigger multiple swirls with his burst and autos, to fill in stacks for his E, his main downfall being the cooldown on his elemental skill being far too long to efficiently spam when it's the bread and butter of his kit. In a sense, his elemental skill is his real burst.
Yanfei's charged attacks grow on aoe with stacks, and depends on elemental reactions (and her burst) to amplify her own average damage to ridiculously strong heights. Her main issue of course being stamina management and enemy repositioning since her attack animations and projectile speed/icd on next animation cycle (hello ningguang mains I know you understand animation cancelling quite well) are quite awkward as is the case with every ranged catalyst user. Heizou got the advantage on this merely from how good flow his autoattacks have compared to Ningguang's or Yanfei's, which is an improvement on design.

Yea, even though they seem different, this kinda proof that all 3 of them are well balanced. Though, I am curious what is Yanfei BIS artifact if not Wanderer's troupe? Crimson Witch again?
Wanderer's troupe and Crimson Witch are close in dps for yanfei but the reason he used Wanderer was bc there no reactions being used for most of the vid
sidenote: the no reactions really hurts me to see as geo and anemo have higher scaling on the account of them not being able to vape/melt, so it's like yanfei was missing part of her kit
