Stumbled across your channel the other day and I just binged all of your videos. I have no real interest in ever playing most of these games, but the way that you present and talk about them is just so....engaging? Its like a really nice balance of information, opinions, critique, and humor. Really great work!
I really like those kinds of videos, much more than separate reviews - the internet is already full of them. Overviews like that are not only quite entertaining but also can uncover some games I wouldn't find otherwise. I hope you give this formula a bigger focus in the future. There's one unending genre that could use some exhumation - 2D platformers (probably with the exclusion of metroidvanias since everybody and their grandmas know about them already).
Have seen your announcement while scrolling through The Void Rains Upon Her Heart's communityhub! been hyped up for this video ever since! Your first Steam Sh'mups video is what brought me to your channel too! I also really enjoyed this video, as always!
Solid showcase. I'll be throwing a few I don't have on my wishlist. A few recs, since you don't seem to mind getting them: - Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo, developed by HEY. Sick minimal aesthetic, baller soundtrack, and a textbook definition of "easy to play, hard to master." - Neko Navy, developed by DeathMofuMofu. Coziest fuggin' shmup I've ever played. Relatively easy to pick up, with lots of scoring tech. - Witch-Bot Meglilo, developed by Astro Port. Sort-of-sequel to Supercharged Robot Vulkaiser. Unique core gimmick, very offbeat sense of humor. Overall decently good time. Scoring is an absolute farce though. - Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst, developed by Mages. Decent enough game. High spectacle, relatively low challenge. Mostly play it for the sweet tunes. And yeah sure, you should probably give Eschatos a shot at some point. It's pretty good too.
Super excited for your Subterranean Animism video! I played through all the Touhou games for the first time this year and agree with you 100% that SA is the best. Good luck!

You're doing a great job with The Bone Zone. It reminds me the old youtube videos, when passion was the real motor. Hope you'll have plenty of views cause you're really talented.
Heya, I saw someone post a previous video of yours on Reddit and wanted to mention something regarding Team Grybanser Fox, of which you showcased Jet Busters. They've recently released Zenodeath, the final game in the Zero series, and possibly their best one yet! Their main programmer, BPzeBanshee, is actually working on a free side-project called Xeno Fighters R, a quality crossover Shmup which has been in the works for over a decade now, and will certainly interest you more. Heck, I barely even played Shmups before it and now I'm assisting with the project! For reference, EddyEmby (formely JudgeSpear, of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion fame) is the original creator, making for a total of 3 team members. There's a beta already, and it's close to being finished at this point! I also want to say: quality work you're doing. This is certainly one of those obscure channels that really deserves more viewers!
Some of the games in the video looks great. Defininitely would give some a try. Great video! Also, you recommended touhou SA for people new to touhou. That was... pretty evil :P
Oh, Jets'n'Guns 2! One of my favorite bands made the soundtrack to that! Also, here's a shoot'em'up I played a lot as a child - Hyperspace Invader. I have a lot of fond memories of that game. It's free to download, if I recall correctly. As for the side-scrolling schmups, I think you'd enjoy Steredenn.

So you got yourself a new subscriber! I hope to continue seeing more of your content and videos soon! PD: Did you try out SYNTHETIK yet? Real fun, I recommend it.
A really well done video, once again highlighting some awesome and even lesser known games, just like the first video. The reviews of all games are straight to the point and have valid critisisms. If I were to recommend some games for the future: Since you talked about Judgement Silversword, why not do the other Qute games also? (Eschatos and Ginga Force are on Steam, Natsuki Chronicles should come out by the end of the year, pandemic caused some issues with Ginga's and Natsuki's releases) Psyvariar Delta is a game about grazing, lots of grazing that upgrades your ship, just spin to win, basically. Maybe more Team Grybanser Fox games, I highly recommend Super XYX, if you want your Toaplan fix.
aaaaaand that makes about the 7th recommendation for Eschatos. It has officially surpassed ZeroRanger in recommendations. I'll be saving this comment and checking out all of your suggestions. Thanks a lot for watching!
I found you and this vid thanks to a tweet from the Veyeral Games twitter. Angel's very passionate and supportive of the community and it shows You make a lot higher quality videos than your subscriber count would tell to be fair. And while the reviews were nice and quirky I just feel like The Void Rains Upon Her Heart didn't quite get the appreciation it deserved. There are so many more nuances, mechanics and game modes that you didn't mention at all. Like the free play or the multiple character stories or the endless nightmare modes or the reward nuances and secret bosses and events. Either that or I may be a bit too passionate about the game idk
You're absolutely right about missing a lot of details, but that's the kind of thing for a single video review. I'm considering giving The Void Rains a full length review when it's out of early access. This video was just a to give a little taste of a bunch of shmups. Thanks a lot for the kind words and for watching!
Awesome video. Picked up some new games for my wishlist. You earned my subscription, friend. You should check DEVIL ENGINE, one of my fav shmups standing just behind zeroranger and jets n guns
Just added Zero Ranger and Jets'n Guns 2 to my wishlist. They look great. Btw you should really try Mushihime-sama, it's one of those games that just feels incredible to play and the aesthetics are great. It also has a very wide difficulty scale, it has a few versions of the game (Novice, Normal, Arrange and 1.5) most of which have multiple difficulty options of their own. Novice version on the Original mode is actually fairly easy, while Normal and 1.5 on Ultra is pretty much the realm of the shmup gods. Out of the Cave games I played it's probably the one I liked the most, though all of them are pretty close (aside from Deathsmiles which IMO is kinda weak in comparison). Also recommend buying the 1.5 version DLC, I haven't played enough to realize what's different from normal gameplay wise, other than the ability to pick "MAX" modes that start you out at max firepower in exchange for enemy bullets being faster, but it also comes with rearranged soundtracks that are better than the ones in the base game.
I've actually had Mushihimesama for awhile now. I really need to make sure it's in next years Steam Shmups vid. Thanks for the recommendation and for watching!
