Sometimes when I am in the mood I turn on this channel during the night and watch these raw videos. To me, even though I am seeing buildings long past their glory days, it relaxes me.
From what I found online, the Road Runner Motel was raided by police a couple of years ago and something like half a mil in marijuana plants was seized.
As one who spent time in motels, back in the '60s when they were a welcome place to spend a night during a trip, these two took me back---minus the vandalism and dirt, of course. My folks and I visited Yellowstone late in June of '67 and found the mountain roads with a foot or more of snow alongside the roads going in. Old Faithful blasted half-heartedly, late, and sleet was pelting down as we ran for the van. On the way out, we experienced all forms of precipitation, and were lucky to find a spacious motel room on the outskirts of Bozeman, MT. Slept like a baby with rain pouring down all night, so I remember it fondly. Free coffee and hot chocolate in the morning, too!
The second motel was probably abandoned within the last few years. You could hear the low battery warnings on the smoke detectors, and those are pretty recent detectors
Nevada has over 600 ghost towns. Most are abandoned from mines not striking it rich and the rest are failed 'desert playground' attempts. The military bases nearby Tonopah are the only thing keeping that town from extinction.
So cool. There's another abandoned motel off I-84 east in Farewell Bend, Oregon. Rooms are furnished. It's like they just jumped ship and left everything. Windows are all boarded up though
What a fun time you must have going to such fascinating abandoned places. Museums.. I can't watch the dirty room? series. The first one i watched, i couldn't get past the crap on the bathroom floor. Lol Thanks for sharing your passion ...
I'll be darned if I don't think that's the motel my mother, aunt and I stayed in in 1971 on our way from Waco, Texas to Los Angeles. We had been in Las Vegas earlier in the day, then visited Death Valley Scotty's Castle and came on into Tonapah. We were upstairs with my room on the right end as you're looking at the motel and Mother and Aunt Mary's next to mine. That AC unit in the back wall was the noisiest thing when the compressor kicked on you ever heard--I think you could have heard it all the way to Waco.
What a contrast between two deserted motels: the first one had a tranquil quality to it, I found it to be a peaceful setting while the second motel has a very different and bad feeling to it. I know it's dated but I imagine there are people who would like some of the furniture from the first place, maybe even because it's so dated! The furniture from the second place: who knows what's been done on or around it; best to leave that alone.
The decor in the Sundowner was "classic" 70's - orange was a popular color during that decade. I'm surprised the place was still so intact. Love your dead motel vids, Dan.
I wish you went upstairs to the second floor bet owners lived up there. Those tv's are definitely old from early 90's this explore is neat no rooms thrown around etc thanks for sharing ... New subscriber
Hey Dan Bell, lots of cool relics out in Nevada to check out. A simple fun location would be a town called Cal-Nev-Ari, it is/was for sale a couple of years ago. It's only mobile homes a small small casino and a motel. Would make a good episode... Also, highway patrol uses biplanes in the town and the runway is in the backyard of the trailers in the town. Just sayin...if you want more creepier places, let me know if you're still in the Southwest.
Should have checked out that wierd second floor office or whatever I assume was on top of the Road Runner Motel... So cool though. I would probably stay at an abandoned motel in the desert if nobody else was there, can't beat the price.
I swear. An entire episode from Breaking Bad could have been filmed in and around there. I keep looking for someone to walk out of one of those rooms wearing red PJs with an ice bucket.
Always love the roadside motels.. extra points for the mom and pop diner in the same vicinity and or connected to the hotel. Brings back childhood memories of Mammoth Cave in the early 80s, staying just outside the Cave in Cave City, and in walking distance of Guntown Mountain, there was a Jerry's restaurant that had thee best "vacation" food possible. As always, thanks for these videos and drudging up the swept away kiddy memories of mine!
lol I have stayed in that motel. I used to do some desert racing & stopping there makes for a nice, easy 1/2 day drive to Reno. We also felt safer having a race car on the trailer in a small town. lol I love old motels like that. They are cheap, no frills, kinda nostalgic & you can park right outside you door. That was a long time ago. I feel old now.
The Dead Motels series now begins......by goin' on Route 66;it looked like it had seen better days. I wonder what it had looked like since it first opened?
Don't be surprised, if so. Upon arriving in Montana (lived there for a year), I was greeted with a "Say no to Meth!" billboard, and that is a big issue out west, from SD to MT, it's ridden with that and heroin.
"TONE-ah-pah" and the first a in Nevada is like apple ;) All of us yell at the TV when someone says Nevada wrong on the news ;) Tonapah has some amazing abandoned mines and structures, as does nearby Goldfield (home of the infamous Goldfield Hotel)...although...Tonapah has the Clown Motel.
I like the videos wish they where longer than 8:15 I like the videos that show The whole Abandoned hotel and places you visit any new video vlog you plan to upload
I think crackheads usually live close to civilization in order to panhandle, steal, and buy crack. That Roadrunner Motel seemed way out there; was it close enough to some town to make it attractive to crackheads?
The sun has definitely set on this motel. Orange carpet goes back to the late seventies. I am surprised that the rooms were as intact as they were and that no one ravaged them.
One of these days you're going to be filming your murderer coming at you. Be careful. Just a BTW Dan, I'd never ever ever wish anything bad happen to either you or Will. What you're doing is absolutely fascinating..I'm glued to all of your films. I can just picture thru your POV and imagine weird things lol! Much love and respect from Michigan.
Dan and Will you guys rock!! Im definately one day gonna have to make the treck to Nevada to do some exploring! There are alot of awesome places to explore there!! I always look forward to your videos! Take care and be safe guys!! Jamie
The Roadrunner didn't close until late 2014. It was a druggie place long before it closed, and several shootings and knifings took place in the 10 years before it closed. Looks like the same people are now living in it for free. This is not a place I would have picked to hang around and explore.
I stayed in several Motels in the 70s and 80s.I don`t think they had as bad a reputation back then. They were well maintained and always had Patrons.Brings back some good memories.I think the Rvs have helped kill the Motel business.Plus all the drugs and crime, which did not seem as bad back in the day.Love these kind of videos. Thanks for posting.
I remember the Sundowner Motel when I moved to California in 1971. I'm not sure if I stayed there. It was prominently advertised on the road. Back in the day, orange carpets were very popular -- a reference to autumn tones.
Where do the stairs go? I wished you done a more detailed video of these places, the second spot looked like it was a very nice place at one time long long ago. pronounced tone-a-paw.
interesting and informative video, certainly opened my eyes, good grief ,the filth in those rooms awful!! and creepy crawlies you mentioned, glad for your sake they didn't surface.
There appears to have been heavy activity within the time frame of 2014-15. That hollow area at 7:18 you filmed had a can of Walmart's Supertech spray lubricant on that makeshift workbench. That's how those products looked a few years ago.
Hey, the Sundowner beat "Ye Bedde Bugge Armes" in South Carolina, hands down, even though it was deserted! (Although I got the distinct impression that those rooms had - or were - being occupied, just like the Road Runner, albeit by a higher type of homeless person.) Too bad places like that couldn't be refurbished and be used as shelter for low-income people just trying to survive.
just an FYI, the town is pronounced with the 1st syllable stressed..TONE a pah for what it's worth. I used to live there.. thank God I no longer do lol
Click the "like" before any of Dan's vids even start so that I won't forget to do it. Always know it'll be good stuff ; ) Thanks for taking your journey out West guys, and sharing your adventure with us. According to Twitter it looks like you guys are back to the East coast. I'll bet the furbabies were happy to have their Dad (Dan) back home. I'm still planning to order a print off Etsy, and support such journeys. With Will's love for vintage horror, and Dan's keen eye/appreciation for vintage architecture, fake plants, and weird things from eras gone by, you guys are hands down, the most interesting, worth while 'tubers in my book.
2018 and doing a binge watch ..love your videos and some of these places are beyond creepy have me on edge of my seat. Some of these be a good horror movie set
Sometimes when I am in the mood I turn on this channel during the night and watch these raw videos. To me, even though I am seeing buildings long past their glory days, it relaxes me.
Definitely looks to be 70's motif at the Sundowner with the orange carpet, and look of the television. Love these places, truly locked in time.
true
Vette_Dude84 I bet those tv's still work too
50s-70s
From what I found online, the Road Runner Motel was raided by police a couple of years ago and something like half a mil in marijuana plants was seized.
Shit they claimed I had a cool million growing in the closet of my 18 foot travel trailer.
Cool. Very old school indeed. The lamp and the television were the first things I noticed.
As one who spent time in motels, back in the '60s when they were a welcome place to spend a night during a trip, these two took me back---minus the vandalism and dirt, of course. Minus the dust, it looks cleaner than your Econolodge room. 😛😛
I agree.
Obviously Michelle (wasn't that her name?) wasn't the housekeeper here
Dan Bell / Film It Nice place for a serial killer.
Looks like the Rodeway Inn in Kentucky
So cool. There's another abandoned motel off I-84 east in Farewell Bend, Oregon. Rooms are furnished. It's like they just jumped ship and left everything. Windows are all boarded up though
He kept saying this place was horrible but it’s 1000% cleaner than any abandoned place in Baltimore!
road runner motel, surprisingly no pool on the premises??? with the hot & dry climate desert???surprising. thanks for the visit guys.
Those rooms were cleaner than the roach motel.
What a fun time you must have going to such fascinating abandoned places. Museums..
I can't watch the dirty room? series. The first one i watched, i couldn't get past the crap on the bathroom floor. Lol
Thanks for sharing your passion ...
My new series, ANOTHER DIRTY ROOM is now available! Check out the debut episode! ruclips.net/video/Joj8Tn5Nn84/видео.html
That hotel looks really good in shape for it to be a vintage hotel. I'm pretty impressed...
Dan and Will, I love your videos and appreciate all of the hard work that you put into making these. I can't wait to see what's next!
+Diane Duffe thanks, Diane!

Beautiful spacious rooms! The furniture looks very sturdy. I love the view of the mountains.

We toured the same Motel last week, Nevada Arcade, nice work Dan
Some of these are in better shape than the "Another Dirty Room" series...
I totally grew up with those big drum looking lamp shades. 😄
I wish you went upstairs to the second floor bet owners lived up there. Those tv's are definitely old from early 90's this explore is neat no rooms thrown around etc thanks for sharing ... New subscriber
Excellent work touring this abandoned motel. It's cool to see those moments in time just sitting there untouched. Great job!
The "Sundowner Motel" looks like It's been abandoned for a very long time, rooms in a mess, old furniture, old fashioned glass screen televisions
Take a roadtrip this summer and come to Canada Dan & Will!
Dan, you and Will should totally do Q+A video!
That would be so much fun
yes! great idea.
That should definitely happen

Yay a abandoned Motel love these!! Love the 70's look.
"Don't be such a Sundowner"
Those smoke alarm beeps . . . I thought they were my smoke alarms making that noise.
Yeah it sounded like they were right in my apartment. O_o
So did we
Tnb Spotter
Ha- ha, me too!
At least we can't add dog bites to your list of fun filled trip tales! 😉🐕
+Cindy D'Adamo AMEN FOR THAT!!!
I swear. An entire episode from Breaking Bad could have been filmed in and around there. I keep looking for someone to walk out of one of those rooms wearing red PJs with an ice bucket.
That place is very interesting. Nice find
Room number 4 looks so cozy and peaceful.
Always love the roadside motels.. extra points for the mom and pop diner in the same vicinity and or connected to the hotel. As always Dan another wonderful video! 😉
That carpet is lovely!
lol I have stayed in that motel. I used to do some desert racing & stopping there makes for a nice, easy 1/2 day drive to Reno. Wow, you guys came all the way out West! How cool. And I love old defunct stuff in the desert.
There's a menacing clown face on the chair at 3:31 lol
Always enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
been past there probably, loved Nevada. Still do.
Nice to see you guys.
You guys make such great chemistry, I like that Will is always just there being Will haha.
Looks cleaner than that Econo Lodge!
Love your videos Dan. Keep up the good work!
The Dead Motels series now begins......by goin' on Route 66;it looked like it had seen better days. I wonder what it had looked like since it first opened?
I wonder if someone was running a meth lab out of the Roadrunner with that big empty room.
First thing I thought too lol
Nope, over 100 marijuana plants - www.kolotv.com/home/headlines/Schurz-Elementary-273648241.html
Awww...police shot the dog.
Bacon & Eggs i wouldn't b suprised
Don't be surprised, if so. Upon arriving in Montana (lived there for a year), I was greeted with a "Say no to Meth!" billboard, and that is a big issue out west, from SD to MT, it's ridden with that and heroin.
Those abandoned rooms are still nicer than the ones they are renting at the Royal Inn. Seriously!
Me too
Yeah, us East coasters learned to say it as nev-AH-da...... Ill try and remember to pronounce it right 😉
Sundowner looked way cleaner than the in-operation Econo Lodge roach motel you filmed.
I like the videos wish they where longer than 8:15 I like the videos that show The whole Abandoned hotel and places you visit any new video vlog you plan to upload
other then the dust its better then some of the dive hotels around me
THANKS DAN !!!!
You could tell drifters were sure sleeping there, some of those blankets looked recently used. I hope no one was killed there...
I think crackheads usually live close to civilization in order to panhandle, steal, and buy crack. That Roadrunner Motel seemed way out there; was it close enough to some town to make it attractive to crackheads?
Bees, rattlesnakes, and scorpions oh my!
When you're from Tonopah, you do crack all day everyday
Yep sometimes you smoke alot a dopa!
Here in STL, it's weed. XD
The sun has definitely set on this motel. Orange carpet goes back to the late seventies. I am surprised that the rooms were as intact as they were and that no one ravaged them.
Toe-NOPE-uh. LOL! Nahvahdah! Too funny!
i used to live in Tonopah NV and ik where that motel is.... its sad to see it shut down
Way nicer than that last Another Dirty Room hotel.....plus free lizards!
Actually, I expected those Rooms to look Worse. Considering the rooms are open like that. The Roadrunner reminds me of the BATES MOTEL.
Wow .. it would be so nice to see what it looked like when it was new and then compared it to now.. is was probably nice during the 70's...
It would be interesting to see you guys turn over the mattress just to compare a random hotel bed base with the horrors of Another Dirty Room.
Even though it's abandoned I think this motel is probably cleaner and better that the motel rooms you review in another dirty room
Everything actually looks in VERY good condition. Maybe you could use this as a section 8...
Dan and Will you guys rock!! Im definately one day gonna have to make the treck to Nevada to do some exploring! There are alot of awesome places to explore there!! I always look forward to your videos! Take care and be safe guys!! Jamie
Even tho those rooms have been vacant for years, they are still cleaner then some of the hotels u do on another dirty room lol
It's so sad that a motel that has been abandoned for years looks like it's in better shape than some of the more expensive ones on ADR... Just wow.
Still cleaner than some of the places you’ve profiled
Fallout vibes this place has is crazy. Was hoping you stumble upon a Nuka Cola.
Man, looks like this Craigslist ad really payed out!
The furnishings are groovy,
The orange carpet is really nice too
dan
I am hooked on your videos
I am in NC and you should come film some of the old abandoned mills.
cheers

I'm surprised the smoke alarm alerts are still "beeping".

Sundowner you better take care. If I find you've been crappin' round my back stair.
Lol the motels I remember from my childhood when we actually got to travel. Very cool.
The Sundowner appeared more fit for habitation than some of the filthy bug infested holes you have featured on your new series!
There appears to have been heavy activity within the time frame of 2014-15. That hollow area at 7:18 you filmed had a can of Walmart's Supertech spray lubricant on that makeshift workbench. That's how those products looked a few years ago.
Bees, rattlesnakes and scorpions. Oh myyy.
love your vids! keep up the awesome work.
I really miss the long version of videos

Really enjoyed the vid. Are these cleaner rooms than your dirty motel room series.
looks nicer than the bed bug motel!
Hiya Dan an Will. Great vids , keep up the good work. Kudos.
