- The Macallan 12yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Highland Region released at 43% ABV is reviewed tonight on #tbwd . This slightly older release Macallan reminds Colin and Malcolm why they do not get caught up in the Macallan controversy (too much for too little) as it continues to be an enjoyable glass of Scotch Whisky. With classic sherry notes, flavors, and aromas, this Whisky embodies a well put together Macallan example. Paired with a creamy Vermont Cheddar cheese; the guys keep smiling at their good fortune. I saw your review this morning and was about to think negative thoughts concerning Macallan, when Colin made the argument that without tasting the spirit one cannot past judgment on the value (I think I am paraphrasing Colin).
So I went out and purchased the Macallam 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask. As I am now sipping this Scotch, your tasting notes are spot on, espically the raisins. The words that come to mind that express this experience is luxurious and regal. For me, $86 is for this Scotch is not too much to spend. Slàinte Mhath!
Right, there are so many examples of what we could have bought for less money and 'equal' or 'exceeds' quality...could be whisky, cars, property, etc....what seems to matter is if you like it, can afford it (at the time); then don't pass judgment on me. Macallan, always tasty, always about 3-10x as expensive as they taste! I am really interested to see if they keep calling their distillate "rare" even though with the new distillery they are producing more than Caol Ila.

Colin, what year McCallum Classic Cut do you have ❓🥃
S1 E18 we opened Classic Cut 2017 and we have secured 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, & 23....very fortunate and we look forward to trying them. The majority of folks seem to say the 2017 was/is the best and it was excellent! Cheers
@@TBWD I've heard the same about the 2017. I have 2, 750ml of the 2018 but can't bring myself to open eather of them as they are simply to expensive to replace. If you can even find them anymore.
@@thedraminator6103 yep, the only place I see the early releases now are at auctions. we have the 23 still on the shelves here in New Hampshire.
