    I learned how to do a proper manicure (basecoat, polish, topcoat), how to apply polish neatly and cuticle cleanup (and many other tips) via RUclips. Before then, I cringe to think how my nails looked! Thank you for the link to Tips and Tricks. 👍🏼

    🧠I think the nerodivergant question is super interesting. I am nerodivergant and both of my kids are as well. ADHD and Autism.
    I think a lot of people who are ND(nerodivergant) have collection type hobbies. But I don't necessarily think everyone who collects is ND and not every person who is ND collects. There does seem to be a lot of over lap.
    I do agree that there is a difference between collecting and hoarding. I know a few people who hoard and it's really difficult for them.

    Nurses are heroes! I have 13 nurses in my extended family, on my mom's side, she is the only one out of her 4 siblings that was not a nurse. My mom's mother was a nurse. About half of my cousins on my mom's side are nurses. I respect and admire nurses so much! As an elementary school teacher, I totally understand the feeling of loving and hating your job because of how much it has changed and the seemingly insurmountable tasks always waiting for you. Budget cuts, more demands and less support and new and growing student needs are a big source of stress. I can not leave work at work, because there is way too much to accomplish both during school hours with students and without students, after hours (planning, prepping, meetings, grading, management, etc.).

    I enjoyed this video and hearing a little about you and your profession. Nurses are some of the hardest workers that I know and I truly appreciate nurses for all they do. They are the ones that really take care of patients, even more so than doctors. Thank you, Jackie, for being a great nurse to your patients! Your mani is beautiful and I love the topper. TFS! ❤

    I love that it was a conversation with your son that influenced you starting your brand! That is so lovely you have inherited diamonds in your special ring. I'm sure you're a really great nurse, Jackie. Nursing has changed here too - every single medical professional is under so much pressure here. Personally I think nurses are amazing - the backbone of the health service. You are one person, you can't be in multiple places at a time. You're amazing!

    Thank you for sharing so much about you personally. You are lovely and I enjoy all the videos you put out. I even have my 75 year old mom watching you on RUclips! As for #HeroNurse and #AngelsOnEarth, you clearly are both! My dad recently needed care and it was his nurses that made the difference in his last days. They were compassionate and honest as well as both human and professional, all things that my dad and family needed to get through his illness. Words can never convey the impact you surely have on those in your care. All the best to you and yours as we continue to navigate the difficulties and complexities life throws at us. ❤️

      Ahhh thank you. How sweet that you and your mom both watch! I’m so glad you like my videos.
      I’m sorry about your dad but I’m so glad he was able to get good, quality care. I’ll be honest, it’s sad but sometimes nurses become desensitized to everything around us and they start to lose their compassion. It’s hard and I hope I never become like that! There’s a lot of politics involved in nursing now and it’s become more about the money and less about the people.

    I love doing a mani over 2 days, where I do a full mani on Sunday and if I end up with dents on some nails, or I didn’t get a perfect application, I take off those couple of nails and redo them on Monday. You could try that with stamping I reckon- do some stamping over an existing mani you’re wearing to make the process shorter!

    18:02 'with toppers the entire brush is not covered in glitter it's covered in base and then there's glitter throughout' 🤯🤯🤯
    I'm a polish Dinosaur 🦖, so I don't know why this explanation just blew my mind 😂

    Excellent question regarding the makeup and nail polish community attracting neurodivergent people! I also don’t think it’s the case, but there’s certainly a level of obsession or attachment to things (makeup / polish) which gets exploited by brands who want to sell more. I say exploited because the industry has increased the release cycle and also leaned into limited editions, collaborations, etc. But it’s part of the larger consumer culture to own items for status rather than need. I don’t need 50 bottles of polish, but I feel part of the indie polish community by following and purchasing from indie brands.

    • @NurseJackie2582

      I’m so tired of limited edition stuff!! I hate the FOMO. They do it intentionally. They make small, limited batches to drive up the desire. I swore when I started my own brand nothing would be limited edition.

    I love all the discussion about longevity. Thankfully I only have one Native War Paints lol. OPI and Essie really are superb for lasting. I wonder if Orly do too (I haven't had Orly quite as long). I just want to highlight that neurodiversity does not equal mental illness and whilst they can co-exist, they are not the same thing. Also, autistic special interests are a whole different thing to a mere hobby, but that does not mean that it is necessarily hoarding. Hoarders can be anyone, neurotypical or not.

    • @NurseJackie2582
      @NurseJackie2582  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes exactly! They are not the same. That’s why I was careful to say hoarders fall in the mental illness category. I’ve never actually met a true hoarder though. It must be exhausting. As for neurodivergent, most people think of autism and the spectrum or adhd but there are others too.
      As for orly, mine all have beautiful formulas still. However, the neons all eventually fade.

    • @loopyfrog
      @loopyfrog 5 месяцев назад

      Yea we're on the same page. I know we sometimes joke about being polish hoarders but it's not harmful in the slightest. I do feel for those with a real problem. Yes indeed neurodiversity is bigger than people think. As someone who's had PTSD in the past, I would've definitely put myself in that category at one time. I think that's inevitable with neons sadly. @@NurseJackie2582

    • @NurseJackie2582
      @NurseJackie2582  5 месяцев назад +2

      Oh yes lol sometimes I feel like I’m hoarding my polishes 😂 but in all seriousness, it’s not the same thing as true mental illness or ND. I think a lot of people can be flippant about it. “Oh my ocd” when in fact you aren’t actually ocd. You just like to be organized. There’s a big difference. I’m so depressed! When you’re just sad etc. There’s a lot that people don’t understand about the brain, mental health and illness.

    • @loopyfrog

    I don't wear full skittles, but I often wear 2 or 3 polishes in most seasons. I do very little nail art, but I do do a simple thing on my ring finger with 2 colors and paint all but that finger and my pinkies the other color. I guess I'm a bit lazy. For me, combining 2 or 3 polishes takes about the same amount of times as one. I have the info on what goes with a polish on a list I made to divide my collection into seasons, which I love.
