Orange City's--Blue Springs State Park all year but in fall to spring best on cold days you can see hundreds! They also have a camera you can access online to view below & above the springs! I put that on and it's like having my own personal aquarium! And when gators show up to share the springs with the manatees it gets very entertaining! manatees love to play with them nut the gators get aggravated eventually and just swim off---
Come along with me and my husband as we pick up manatee carcasses because humans are making them too friendly here in the springs and manatees start coming up to all boaters. Humans are the only predator to manatees. I am a tour company owner and a advocate for "hands off" the wild manatees. FWCC states "look - don't touch" the manatees. The manatees are here for one reason only TO SURVIVE......the "petting zoo" mentality will only get this amazing adventure shut down. Be a steward for the wild manatees....passively observe them without touching them....even if they come up to you and you THINK they want attention. I have witnessed this before over and over in 15 yrs and the manatee was critically sick and was looking for help ...later we rescued it...Many manatees don't make it to rehab........many sicknesses - internal parasites, twisted gut, and others affect manatees which are unknown to humans and don't show from an outward appearance.
Your tour company boats emits pollutions like gas & oil into these natural springs plus your prop blades hurt & cut the manatees, you’d be a better advocate and less of a hypocrite if you used electric jet propulsion motors or paddles only. They should ban all gas powered & prop engines in any and all manatee waters. Your company profits and pollutes the waters.
Now the Manatees are just so amazing. My parents and I have been out with Birds Underwater many times to swim with the Manatees. Oh I want to be in Florida in the springs. It is 18° here in Cincinnati today. Freezing. Brrrrr. Sweet video!!
Sunscreens and parfumes on our skin can hurt them though. Water accumulates hundreds of various chemicals from swimmers which makes them sick. Just a good thing to remember. Amazing video!
Be honest: any place by Disney that's good to see them? I'm taking my dad for his 61st birthday and he loves manatees (used to live in Florida for a number of years before he moved away for work)
The platform that is shown under "Blue Springs" where people are diving from is NOT at the Blue Springs in Orange City Fl., but perhaps the one up in Madison.
More advertising for the "Manatee Petting Zoo" that is Crystal River. Notice no one is petting manatees anywhere else in Florida, so why in Crystal River? Manatees are wild animals and should be observed from a distance.
Sorry, friends...there are no manatees in the Titusville area anymore...they have all starved to death in the past year due to all plant life in the Indian River and south Mosquito Lagoon being killed by runoff pollution and multiple sewage spills..
I have a question that's rather odd for sure. I am OBBSESSED with finding a town I was once in in Florida. Hopefully my description will help someone name this place for. Yes, this was 17 years ago. This was a very small town. It had at least one brick street down the main strip. Ocean was on the right very close. The buildings were like 1 2 or 3 floors. Buildings were old. Very quaint place. Sips boats up close. Looked like a fishing town. It also looks at least higher upper class. There were little shops up and down selling things from these small buildings.
Maybe Ormond Beach? It used to be a retreat for the rich, I think the Carnegies or the Rockefellers. Need better description, is it in the Panhandle, the Keys, or somewhere in-between? More clues would help you.
@@HairyThoraxIt was a surprising place right away. It instantly looked very old. The brick streets. It was a small town. The water was right there on the right. The buildings all looked very old. They were small buildings. I think all were 2 stories. Looked like people lived on the second floor. It was at a time where we got really lost. There was a bad storm that had us all turned around so we were basically just riding along until we figured it out. We were in no hurry. We hit this small town when the weather cleared up. It looked like it was a big fishing town. See the docks and a lot of fishing boats. There were shops all the way down the main street with shirts and everything you could imagine. I have tried 3 times to find that town again with the brick streets and I'm beginning to think I'm never going to find it again! LOL
Are you sure it was the ocean? Because this sounds exactly like Sanford. First street is brick, and the buildings are like what you are describing. There is a marina right there with a bunch of boats. But the body of water is Lake Monroe.
You are not supposed to touch the manatee . In1983 I swam in many of those springs including Three sisters spring and that was common sense rules back then.
Nuclear power plants use water to make steam that turns the generators. They discharge some heated water from that process but it is safe and not radioactive.
You mean to tell me that one backyard canal in Satellite Beach where the manatee pile up hundreds deep in just an 1/8 of a mile isn't on the list??!?! That's ok, I'm sure the residents don't want to see most people anyway!! It's bad enough when there's 30-40 strangers staring into your backyard, they don't need hundreds more strangers showing up.
Beautiful peaceful gentle giants...thank you for the tour...Florida, hey it’s the sun state!

In Columbia and Brazil ,manatees have been gracious enough to help tow boaters including Jet Skiers out of the Jungle.
I love my state, is so beautiful.
Yeah Florida is nice but fuck the gators

You can bring a kayak and go on your own and snorkel with the manatees
They are so freaking adorable, I love them ❤
Nice list. The power plants are an eye opener for me.

Bellissimo video 👍👏🙋♂️🌈
Don't forget Festus, Missouri.
You know they're not actually in Festus. Right?
Why?
Love this ❤
If you go to the Space Center, you can pay to take the Merritt Island tour. It takes several hours, and well worth it.
beautiful manatees
So what is the best place to swim with manatees? Lowest cost?
They are sooooooooooooooo cute

What type of discharge by power plants 🤔
water warms being discharged from power plants. They enjoy warm water

Nuclear power plants use water to make steam that turns the generators. They discharge some heated water from that process but it is safe and not radioactive.
