And so diverse - top down shooting, awesome boss fights, docking, dropping supplies, shooting fighters… I almost forgot it since my childhood (I am 40 now), but it was a good game
Sucha fun pick-up-and-play game from my youth. A solid title from top to bottom and worth a look for anyone to try. As always, thank you for posting gold!
Captain Skyhawk is a mark of Rare's quality back in those days! EDIT: I never imagined the Maverick missiles could have that sort of effect on enemies in the ground attack stages! (Blasting the nearby enemies if it connects)
OH MY GOD!!! This brought back soooo many memories. This game, along with the original Super Mario Bros. were my first 2 ever games when my parents gave me a NES for Christmas when I was like 9 or 10yrs old. Thank you so much for this nostalgic experience!
Damn I look back at some games like this and remembered them to be so cool 😂 all these games that took us so many tries to beat and all we would get is “ nice job the end”. … and we’d be satisfied just beating it
I think I owned this as a kid. I remember being somewhat disappointed at first, but the more I played it the more I loved it. I don’t think I ever played it as much as Life Force, but it spent a lot of time in my NES.
Captain Skyhawk is a fast, smooth, and fun shooter that really flatters the NES's hardware. Rare was awesome, weren't they?
One of my favorite NES games
Rare was great...as long as they didn't have to develop any LJN games.

If there was one studio that consistently delivered an enjoyable gameplay experience, it was Rare.
Rare was not infallible. Just play Beetlejuice for the NES.
@@yusakug they made a lot of games LJN put out. Nightmare on Elm Street and Roger Rabbit lol. they appeared on a lot of early AVGN episodes.

"Cooper, what are you doing?"
"Docking..."
loved this game so much
Programmer Brendan Gunn later became a programmer on the SNES classic Donkey Kong Country.
One of my all time favorites on the NES!
Love this game especially as a kid. I remember once I learned how to dock in the space station I blew through the game fast.
I saw this game all the time, no idea Rare made it. They made a lot of interesting stuff back then.

It's super handy since the game rewards killing all of the enemies in certain formations with money for weapons.

this game looks awesome just proof that sometimes you cant beat a good retro game so thank you for revealing this gem.
I frigging loved this game as a kid. So many good memories with this one. Is this the reason I have to have my camera thumbstick inverted, perhaps?
This is one of those really weird ones that I enjoyed the hell out of.

13:48 Okay, that was a pretty sweet move, that Maverick AGM Launch mid-roll in Mission 5.

I remember this. Prologue to Ace Combat games on PlayStation/Switch
very good captain skyhawk
Classic 80's game!
I remember pumping many fun hours into this game. Finally made it to the last boss only for the game to crash.
I didn't know that the plane could roll like that in this game. How do you do it
Hold select and tap left or right
Rare was the real goat 🔥🔥💪🐐, all their games were great and decent (even taboo being a game that was strange had its touch)
Ultimate Play the Game😁
"All their games were great and decent"
Roger Rabbit and Beetlejuice: Are you sure about that?
The letters falling down was tight.
0:25 was always the best part.🤩
This game was awesome
Very addicting
I had no idea...poetry...they should have sent a poet...
Aye, this game don't look too bad, but why's it gotta be an F-14D Super Tomcat? Why can't it be an F-16 Fighting Falcon, or an F-15C Eagle?
Está bonito el juego😮
Kinda like After Burner for the Sega Genesis
Zaxxon too.
The NES version is a port of the Arcade game? Which was developed first?
I could never beat this game as a kid back in 1991.
How is this new I've been watching this for months
I loved this game so much my god I’m Ethiopian in Ethiopia but this was it !! I was 8/9 or something
OMG I Miss this game so much! They should port it to pc.
Ayriyetten övündüler yani zaten ❤

Pretty much Milton Bradley's
Answer to zaxxon.
Love a shooter where you can't see five feet in front of your face.
An F14 in space was crazy
