  • BMW has added two more doors to the 8 Series along with some new features for the 2020 BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupé. We're going over everything you need to know about this four-door grand tourer.
    PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: teespring.com/stores/prn
    Last year we featured the 2019 BMW M850i xDrive Coupé, the G15 was the first new 8 Series model produced since the E31 ended production about 25 years ago. Since then BMW has added a number of additional trims and body styles including this Gran Coupé. With a base MSRP of $122,100.00 CAD, the Gran Coupé is the most affordable M850i available in Canada.
    Our full tour and review of the 2020 BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupé goes over what's new for 2020 including the soft-close doors and enhanced BMW Driving Assistant Professional, and the differences in interior and exterior dimensions with the four-door version. We go over the options selected on this specific car including the Executive Package, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, M Technology Package, Display Key, and the high gloss black kidney grilles and trim option.
    The exterior design has changed slightly with an improved wheelbase of 201mm, the overall length has also increased along with the rear track of the 8 Series. Interior dimensions have increased as well, 5mm more front headroom for the driver and passenger, but the headroom, legroom, and shoulder room have all improved significantly for the rear seating space. BMW has also added quad-zone climate control along with better rear seats, power side sunshades, and a panoramic sunroof.
    We go over some of the sales data from 2019 for the BMW 8 Series in Canada and the United States, and how it compares to the Mercedes-AMG GT including the AMG GT 4-Door.
    We then take the 2020 BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupé on a comprehensive real-world road test to see how this M Performance car handles itself on the road. We're testing Pirelli Sottozero 3 winter tires in our snowy Québec climate. During our road test we discuss how Launch Control works, the different drive modes, and we test to see the 0-100kph time on this vehicle. We talk about how it feels on the road compared to the Coupé and how it compares to the 2020 BMW X3 M Competition we drove a few weeks prior.
    We wrap up our full episode of TestDrive Spotlight on this luxury sports car with our real-world fuel economy testing along with our final thoughts on what we liked the most about this car, and what we hope BMW improves down the road with model year updates.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 года назад +2

      Two completely different beasts. Sure they use the same engine/transmission but the 7 Series is setup for ultimate luxury & comfort, where as this is designed to be a proper sports car with the handling characteristics that match. If you want something that stands out, drives like hell, and can be comfortable when you want it then get the 8 Series. If you're primary focus is comfort but still like to have a bit of fun now and again go for the 7 Series.

    It saddens me to see what BMW has become. A caricature of a corporate culture that has become all about greed and sticking it to customer base that made it what it became.
    This is not the company that gave us 2002, 3 series, 5 series and original 6 series. It has now become a me too company trying to gain every last penny out of customers that made it what it was. First it was options for everything that cost a fortune, then giving us same vehicle in strange forms (x6 and x4 or naming coupes 4 series) and charging more. Is there any reason to call this an 8 series? What is the difference between this so called 8 series and the prior 6 series other than they want to charge their remaining customers some more.
    The performance is great, but not much greater than what was delivered in old six series. The technology is nothing new. It is not a Tesla beater and in fact gets crushed by Model S in performance and new to market features such as auto pilot, and on the fly updates.
    It is a corporate culture that can't see the future and can't even stand on its history of refined performance without costing a fortune. The corporate culture which was the anti Detroit greed, has become nothing but and even worse.

      Welcome to winter, no one who buys this car in a climate like this is going to be able to keep it clean 100% of the time, and it's impossible to do so while filming this considering I don't have a 20,000 sq.ft warehouse to film these vehicles in.
