It suckssss and hurts when parents like try to turn you to a different path when you fail even when it’s your passion but man I needed this, lemme go start restudying bc I’m not about to let one test determine my future
You mentioned the 3 resources that helped me to do well haha. It’s a very individual exam so finding what works for you is one of the hardest part for sure
I feel this pump, i also took 3 gaps years to work in a chem lab and was going to take the mcat last year but my dad died a month before so i took anoyher year off to cope. I am finally hitting the 515 area on the past three practice fls. Feels amazing. I also ditched the books and just did youtube and practice questions. This exam is definetky more of being able to analyze passages then just pure content
You showed up on my feed today. Literally switching my whole mcat study plan as I started a week ago but transitioning to your methods because everything you’ve been saying about the bad resources I’ve been using is how I feel. You’re approaching things the same way I am so gonna trust you will be back in a couple months. Exam August 23. Cheers
In the first 3 minutes you literally said the 3 resources I was planning on using were trash!!! 😭I am going to check out the resources you mentioned though. Thanks!
I have repeated 5x this video, I am listening to you because the resources you mentioned that I should avoid are the same ones that I feel that did not work for me the first 3x I have taken the MCAT.
thank you so much ive been struggling so much with retention because id read the kaplan chapters and then do the anki for the chapters and it was just too much information. so you recommend doing your bouras anki deck and watching the simplifiedscience videos, then moving onto FLs and practice questions on AAMC? I am 80 days from my MCAT test rn
For the anki deck you use, how many cards you did and new cards, because the anki deck for m.d they have separate section for p/s? please elaborate on that
Just curious, what is your outlook before and during med school? Was there something you wished you studied or brushed up on before entering? I guess another topic is covering the myths of med school and the truths of med school I been thinking of attending med school at tOSU but unsure
Thanks for the support! I worked as an EMT in an emergency department. We would have 12 hour shifts 3 times a week. I would try to have my shifts scheduled 3 back to back and then 4 days off. During the days I would work, I would just do anki before work or during breaks/downtime at work. I would say this was roughly 4-5 months of studying while preparing for the MCAT. I did have an OK baseline from my previous two attempts regarding MCAT content. I was also able to get some time off before my exam to solely focus on that. Hope this helps :D
I would start out with one passage a day untimed, and then review it right after updating my Google Sheets document while reviewing it. I would add more passages once my scores go up and then focus on timing once scores were good.
You have no idea how much I needed to see this video today. Thank you Tyler!
No worries- keep me posted on your journey! Good luck :D

You got this! yes those are my recommendations. Let me know if you have any other questions moving forward.
Do you have the updated link to the Bouras deck? Drive link isnt working
link has been updated in the bio. let me know if that works!
It works thanks!
For the anki deck you use, how many cards you did and new cards, because the anki deck for m.d they have separate section for p/s? please elaborate on that
The bouras link is not working :( I am hitting download but it is not letting me download the deck
link is updated!
@@TYLERLUNG thanks!
@@ethanpham6635 No worries! Rooting for you and keep me posted on your journey :D
Should you use the same aamc exams if you’ve already taken it twice in previous attempts? Even if there is memory bias?
Just curious, what is your outlook before and during med school? Was there something you wished you studied or brushed up on before entering? I guess another topic is covering the myths of med school and the truths of med school
I been thinking of attending med school at tOSU but unsure
I would say once you're accepted enjoy the time before medical school starts. It wouldn't be beneficial to success if you studied before entering.
When working on the Princeton Review science workbook, did you jump around between passages or take them in the order they were given?
I jumped around between sections!
Went to the reddit link and the bouras deck is gone :(. Do you have another link for it?
I just updated the link let me know if it works!
Thanks for such an encouraging and helpful video!
Do you mind sharing how many months you studied for the MCAT while working full-time?
Thanks for the support! I worked as an EMT in an emergency department. We would have 12 hour shifts 3 times a week. I would try to have my shifts scheduled 3 back to back and then 4 days off. Do you only recommend doing AAMC full lengths? This will be my third retake, definitely taking all the advice.
that link doesnt let me download the anki deck
link is updated!
@@TYLERLUNG thank you so much!!!!!!!!
@@DrTorres444 I got you; Keep me posted on your journey!
Even though the Princeton Workbook was published in 2016, Is it still relevant in 2024?
yes my buddy used it to prepare for his mcat and took it this past July. He states it was one of the best resources he has used.
Great vid! What did you score on the MCAT and what was your mark breakdown?
Thank you!
How many questions did you do a day from the science workbook?
I would start out with one passage a day untimed, and then review it right after updating my Google Sheets document while reviewing it. I would add more passages once my scores go up and then focus on timing once scores were good.
@@TYLERLUNG okay thanks! I have this book but it’s so thick I honestly didn’t know how to best approach studying with it. Appreciate it!
Would you be willing to share your MCAT scores? Thanks!
hey great question! I will probaly talk about it in an upcoming video. nobody ever talks about the MCAT once you're in med school :D
Agree with this
