This is my favorite RUclips video of 2021. What a legend. Same with BA. sometimes I feel kinda silly being 36 and so hyped on skating like I’m 15 again, but seeing this and seeing other dudes who still dream about skating all day make me so happy. We really did find the fountain of youth.
@Frank Bonazza III it’s just sometimes when I’m at the local park by myself and I’m surrounded by a best trick contest it feels a little alienating to be the dude still doing basic tricks. I live in a city where a lot of locals think they’re all too cool for everyone and a lot of people have attitudes so I sometimes get discouraged and feel like “wtf am I doing here” but it’s all good because I can just go skate a street spot and not deal with the 20YO cool guys when it gets to be too much
@@dadboard i definitely feel you on that one. That's why I always skate alone and street.
@Frank Bonazza III already got a diy spot for that reason, and a list of secluded street spots that I can zone out on. Still love the local park but it definitely matters what time and day you go there unless you want to get snaked by a dozen try hards and/or packs of wild scooter kids
I just turned 40 and I love it more than ever. If you find what makes you happy and gets you through this dumpster fire we call life then do it.
yo man I feel that same damn way, im 34 , 2 kids and my 13 yr old son hopped on a board and I jumped on it and kick flipped and man its ignited a spark and videos like this just help remind me we still have time, to use it

I don't even skate, but I do love Fred Gall. He's a genuine person, and there aren't enough of those around these days! He clearly just lives his life doing what makes him happy and doesn't spend a second worrying what other folks might think of him. Humble house, humble car, humble attitude.

I skated with Fred once about 20 years ago. A group of friends and I heard Fred lived in Sewaren. So we went to his grandparent's house and she said he's living in another part of town. We found him there and asked if he wanted to skate with us. Despite having a hurt ankle he went down with us to a tennis court by the water for a few hours. Good times.
For some reason this Out There series bring me peace. Love watching them.
I remember seeing Fred at Love in 2001. He was cruising around fast as fuck and just busted out a flatground noseblunt out of nowhere. It was so rad to see.
Now it’s just that dumb infinity fountain and no one stands within 100 yards of it.
Watching this makes you appreciate you still have the ability to skate and remember to not take it for granted.

My mother and I had good times with ur mom at NJ’s Tavern and Restaurant. Ur mom gave me my first board and u were responsible for the skating rampage I went on for the next 10 years. Peace brother. JERSEY WE HERE!!!

I was blessed to be skating a spot in Miami on a random summer day years ago and have Fred Gall and Joel Meinholz stop by and shred. Fred was skating this steep ass mini quarter pipe like it was nothing. They had some of my water and I ended up with Fred’s deck. Great memory. Glad to see him still ripping.

my first board in '97 was an alien workshop fred gall slick. Had no idea who fred was at the time, but have grown to respect the shit out of that dude as I grew older and heard more of his story. Looking forward to the vid!!

Definitely. There's a couple crazy drop-ins he's done in Indian School Ditch, one gif recently posted in Thrasher's community section. Didn't see it in person, but knowing that spot is just mind-blowing, especially the one on a 1997 Slap cover. It's easy to overlook the little bolts you have to weave through right at the flat, but that's what makes that spot 20 times gnarlier. He acid droped from this top rail by the sidewalk into it from a noseblunt. Dropping from that top rail is just bonkers. You can't see how steep it is on the cover, but you can see the bolts if you look close. I just dropped into the bank itself like 20 years ago and died because of the bolts, and that was one of the gnarliest things I've done and never tried it again because it's just rolling the dice.
Man these guys are my heroes. They seem so kind, and its inspiring. Make's me wanna go out and burn shit down in the nicest way possible.
